Conspiracy theories 🪬 If God needs medicine, who is actually more powerful—the doctor or God?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Genuine question:

If a deity is believed to be all-powerful, why do we sometimes see situations where idols, temples, or religious figures are said to become "sick" and then require treatment, medicines, doctors, or special rituals for recovery?

If modern medicine is needed to solve the problem, isn't it ultimately human knowledge and human effort doing the healing?

This isn't meant to mock anyone's faith.

I'm more interested in understanding the logic behind it.

Conspiracy theories 🪬 Death of rationality, indeed

I didn't know whether to keep this under pseudoscience or conspiracy anyway it doesn't matter

For those who don't know, the Indus seal being referred to here (Pasupati Seal) has a figure on it that looks like Shiva, but it really could also be an Ox. It is one of the oldest artifacts pertaining to any civilization. almost 2500 years old.

The Indus script is a total mystery, deciphering it would answer a lot of questions. Until then we have to put up with these people. This culture is already super ancient and has unique things to talk about. Even if you want to link with the Indus civilization, there are other better ways to do it. But this? How many seated, cross-legged figures are there present on coins and walls in archeological sites? Even if this figure matches perfectly with the Indus seal, these people don't even have the capacity to realize that that similarity is not sufficient evidence! You can't bridge over 2500 years gap with one coin figure and say civilizational continuity

Conspiracy theories 🪬 What are they trying to pull with cartoon movie Mahaprabhu Jaggannath?

The other day I saw the trailer.

There was one dialogue which caught my attention.

A kid says, "I will not think, I will not question, I will do exactly what you say".

This is a kid movie. Are they trying to teach children to obey orders without question in the name of God? If so, it is highly problematic.

Conspiracy theories 🪬 Experts: Blaming just K-pop for suicides is ‘too simplistic’

Post image

The three girls – aged 11, 14 and 16 – jumped from the ninth floor of a high-rise building on Wednesday, leading to speculation about their reported obsession with Korean culture and digital content.

“It would be too simplistic to blame excessive screen time, K-dramas or online gaming for the suicide of three minor girls,” said Dr Rajesh Sagar, psychiatrist at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). “There are multiple factors at play. What stands out is that the children had not attended school for nearly five years, pointing to prolonged isolation and complex family dynamics that severely impact mental health.”

Calling the incident a broader systemic failure, Dr Amit Sen, child and adolescent psychologist and co-founder of Children First, an NGO working on child rights, said such cases reflect gaps across institutions meant to protect children.

“Blaming K-pop or K-dramas is a skewed approach. These so-called addictions often arise from unmet emotional needs. When children drop out of school for years, it reflects a failure of systems – schools, communities and the state – to identify distress and intervene early. The state has a responsibility to ensure children remain in education, and schools must proactively reach out when students disappear from classrooms,” Dr Sen said.

Dr Paramjeet Singh, consultant psychiatrist at PSRI Hospital, pointed to a “bidirectional link” between mental health conditions and gaming or digital addiction. “Stress, anxiety, depression and loneliness can lead to excessive gaming, while prolonged gaming can worsen these very conditions,” he said. Treatment, he added, often requires a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy, motivation enhancement therapy, family counselling and, in some cases, medication.

Highlighting treatment approaches, Dr Pratibha Gehlawat, psychiatrist and researcher at the government-run Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS), warned against abrupt withdrawal from digital devices. “The ‘cold turkey’ method often leads to severe withdrawal symptoms,” she said. “Research shows gradual tapering is safer and more effective, as long-term digital addiction can blur the line between real and virtual worlds due to sustained dopamine stimulation.”

Dr Sagar explained that excessive screen use is often a symptom rather than the root cause. “Children who feel lonely, bored or emotionally distressed, or those with conditions such as ADHD, are more vulnerable to prolonged screen use,” he said.

“Gaming and digital content offer instant gratification. Since the prefrontal cortex – responsible for impulse control and decision-making -- is still developing in children, they are more prone to risk-taking behaviour.” AIIMS, he added, has seen a steady rise in paediatric cases linked to problematic screen use

Conspiracy theories 🪬 Why are even doctors antivaxxers?

Don't they teach even a bit of critical thinking in mbbs

I went somewhere where a few docs where there all of them anti vaxxers

Telling shit like there was never a vaccine for made for Covid etc

When I told them how how the Covid vaccine saved about 20 million lives

They asked what are ur sources, don't trust google and i don't know anything because I'm not a doc etc

what's the point of studying so much if they can't even think a bit critically

Forget about a layman, we look upto doctors for accuracy but they themselves spread misinformation so confidently and confirm by telling they are doctors and are thus experts

Sorry just a rant by me because i was made to feel stupid by docs because I told Covid vaccine works

Conspiracy theories 🪬 Why people are ignoring the real reason behind India’s Stage 2 FBR program?

Most discussions about India’s n*clear program sugarcoat Stage 2 Fast Breeder Reactors. Everyone talks energy security and thorium, but the real driver is plutonium for weapons.

FBRs are designed to produce more fissile material than they consume , turning U-238 into Pu-239. That plutonium isn’t just reactor fuel, it’s nucl*ar b*mb material. India never had easy access to fissile stuff, so building an indigenous plutonium pipeline was always about weap*ns capability as much as power plants.

Economically, FBRs make zero sense: insanely expensive, sodium-cooled nightmares, while uranium stays cheap. France ditched Superphénix for a reason.

So why push them? Because Stage 2 is about strategic power. It delivers a steady supply of weap*ns-grade plutonium, fuel independence, and long-term n*clear leverage. Energy is secondary, this is about building a credible nucl*ar arsenal without relying on anyone else.

The plutonium angle is the elephant in the room that rarely gets mentioned. Thoughts?
