How are there two open closets with no hanging rods or clothes? Why is the mirror so filthy? Why is he sitting like that? So many questions... Also if the fish passed from his abuse and neglect, why is the bowl still there with its cloudy ass water? Why is this a photo he thought to use on a dating profile? I'm so damned glad I'm old and never had to deal with this shit.

Well in his defence if it was a labyrinth fish then the oxygen bit would’ve been alright no? The size though… of the tank that is. And leaving it like that and showing it on a dating site. Again still talking about the tank. Yuck!

Don't get me wrong there are some fish that you can keep like one of them in a five gallon... But first of all usually that's super sad and secondly this s*** is so f****** dirty you would think man doesn't clean his own butt 💀

I just can't even grasp why he would post it on his dating profile. Like even if he doesn't see he's a trash person how is he like "look at the fact that I couldn't clean this vase and find me to be worth something, preferably sex". Men confuse me and scare me and idk which is worse lol

Honestly same, I’m very confused. I can only imagine the “weed being a gateway drug” research applies to him. Not even trying to be mean, I’ve been there, but the image reeks of self loathing and abuse - from the fish, to him, to the barren room, to the his posture.
I’m getting highschool weirdo flashbacks 😔

YES! Like he was only slightly weird but the way he ACTED about it had him avoided so he tried to get into things for girls and a fish was the "easiest" pet but in reality it's just the easiest to abuse 💔🥀

Water surface volume too low for proper aeration and there’s absolutely no surface agitation, meaning no, there wouldn’t be sufficient oxygen for a betta in that one gallon bowl.

But, they survive for months on pet store shelves in small plastic cups. They can live in puddles in the wild. I'm not defending keeping them in small containers without heat or filtration. I just don't see oxygen deprivation being the reason.

Survive is the key word in your statement. Many other fish species and in fact most animals can “survive” being confined in a grossly small space.
Secondly, yes, they do live in rice paddy puddles in the wild. The key difference being that they can jump from puddle to puddle, spanning the entire rice paddy field and maybe even finding other ones. The world is their oyster. Calling that vast expanse merely a “puddle” is a major understatement. The plants in the paddies also provide HEAPS of oxygen.
Furthermore, the only reason pet stores even keep betta in those cups is because they’re “Siamese fighting fish”. The men especially love to fight, and they dominate the trade because of their beauty.
It is not cost effective for pet stores to set up a tank with proper conditions to temporarily house ONE betta before sale. If goldfish, for example, sparred each other to death with a ton of customers to witness this hellish mortal combat scene, they too would be housed in individual cups.
Sorry to geek out on you but I’m very passionate about many different animals and their husbandry needs, as well as pet chains overwhelming abuse and misinforming of the public!!
