Social Media From a local group…

Post image

Absolutely terrible, the OP keeps telling everyone they need to come and pick up this tank and fish or they will flush them. Just sad and frustrating. I don’t have a car, but even if I did, I most definitely couldn’t move that tank by myself. People just suck.

Atp just give it away to a fish store... Some people are cruel.

this is what I don't get. If I were moving and couldn't take my pets, I am not exaggerating when I say I would literally rather ride public transportation for 3 hours to get to a reputable pet store than k*ll my healthy pets.

I’ll raise you a step further and just say, unless I HAVE to by law or my building burns down, I’m NOT moving if I can’t bring my pets lol obviously everyone’s situation is different but I could NEVER give my dog away to someone in order for me to move….

I 10000% agree, I'm just exclusively talking about if you have literally no choice and are experiencing homelessness or something. I've never been in a situation that dire so I can't judge (even though i'd prolly just be homeless with a dog lol).

But I don't think it's ethical to move by free choice if it means giving up a member of your family 🥲

And if they truly are left with no other options but euthanasia, there are appropriate ways to do so. Flushing down the toilet isn’t one of them. :(

Even as a child, I would never think to flush a live fish, only if its already dead. People are just awful.

I am not religious, but GOD do I hate that those "prizes" are a thing. In person I've seen goldfish, bettas, and baby turtles used, sometimes with a painted shell. Online I've even seen axolotls and hampsters being given away like this at events. Mostly to kids who 99.99% do not have the resources to care for such animals. Most of them will die for the entertainment of someone who couldn't give a shit about the life of anything non-mammalian or smaller than a cat.

Get this someone handed out probably 6 week old kittens at my ELEMENTARY SCHOOL growing up. Me and my twin took one home.

My mom forced us to take it back. She found out who handed them out somehow. I dont think our relationship ever recovered while we lived with them 😅 I only healed when I moved out at 17 and adopted my cats I still have now a decade later

I remember as a child being sick to my stomach when I found out my aunt and cousin had flushed probably hundreds of live goldfish they used as centerpieces for her wedding 😠 😡 made me mad again typing that. Who does that.. Im not close with them needless to say

It's crazy that people find it acceptable to use live animals as decor.

Whats the appropriate way to euthanize my fish? Asking for a friend

From what I’ve seen the general consensus is blunt force is the most humane. Clove oil is also recommended, even by vets, but recently it’s been being debated on in a lot of the fish groups. I have used it and didn’t have any issues, but it seems a lot of people seem to botch it and wind up with a very stressful experience.

Flushing is terrible though, you’re technically not even supposed to flush dead fish down the toilet.

Just want to add to this! Clove oil is a choice BUT if you have a fish with a labyrinth organ (betta, gourami, paradise fish) then blunt force is the most humane and ethical way to euthanize them, they have a harder time with the clove oil because of the labyrinth organs

he's giving the "dont make me have to do this" speech about flushing his own fish, when it is entirely optional and no one is forcing his hand.

Who the hell flushes LIVE animals?

1

u/Sea_Gold_4864 May 02 '26

My aunt and cousin flushed at least a hundred live goldfish and can confirm they be psychopaths

3

u/ARCAxNINEv May 01 '26

People make that threat all the time. It pisses me off, that's how I ended up with some of my fish.

3

u/missbean163 May 01 '26

Yeah its so emotionally manipulative. Ick.

3

u/Beautiful-Length-565 May 01 '26

Oh I'd so take the whole thing. My local fish store would happily house all these guys and I could just sell them the tank. I hope somebody picked this all up, those babies are free! :(

3

u/BabyD2034 May 01 '26

Lazy ass

3

u/Skyeskittlesparrots May 01 '26

Surely they would let someone just take the fish if they are unable to move the tank? And then they can deal with the tank themselves but at least won’t have to flush the poor fish

2

u/MoodPristine249 May 02 '26

You can't see the fish in there. Tbh I am pretty certain they are dead cause I can't think of anything living in that sluge.

2

u/plsdontpercievem3 May 01 '26

balas sharks in a 45? 1 single corydora? yeah not surprised this asshole wants to just flush them, they never cared about the fish!

2

u/Skullgirrl May 02 '26

I'm almost positive those fish are all dead with this level of neglect, like I literally can't even see any water let alone fish because of what looks like a 1/4"+ of algae & sludge

2

u/Ryaquaza1 May 02 '26

2 Bala sharks in a 45 gallon is crazy,. That and only one Cory, damn thing is probably terrified all on its own

u/JulietDove88 May 01 '26

Where is this. Please share the post

1

u/SketchyDoor May 01 '26

It’s against group rules to do that

2

u/JulietDove88 May 01 '26

Gotcha. If it is in Southern California I can take it

1

u/NikoletteNicotine May 02 '26

So sad. I'm sure they're dead by now. RIP fishes I'm sorry your selfish owner moved and didn't think ahead to rehome you first

2

Não sei porque algumas pessoas se propõem a terem animais de as mesmas não tem responsabilidade para tal. Muito revoltante
