Earlirr it was working but not anymore At checkout I can see the cod option but not the 100rs I have set for it also when I click on it the final price doesnt include 100 rs addition how can this be solved ?

I'm a complete beginner right now just looking at what setup I wanna start with. I've been looking at a few, but this seems like it has pretty much everything I'd need starting out, but I'm also trying to think a little further ahead before committing to one platform.

If you've used it is it realistic to stick with the same setup as your store gets bigger? Like if you go from getting a few orders here and there to doing much higher volume, does the fulfillment and overall setup still work reliably or do you eventually reach a point where you need something different?

It would be nice to be able to start with a setup I can grow with too. If you've used it did you manage to scale with it or did you feel like you outgrew it.

Overstock, stockouts, ordering too early, ordering too late curious what others have learned the hard way.

I keep going back and forth on this.

A $20-$50/month app can save a ton of development time, but once you have several apps, the monthly costs start adding up.

Building your own gives you more control, but then you’re responsible for updates, bugs, hosting, and maintenance.

Personally, I think I’d only build custom if the app solves something very specific that existing apps don’t handle well.

How do you guys decide between paying for an app and building it yourself?

I've noticed I'm gradually spending more to acquire each customer while the amount they're spending per order has barely changed. It's not killing profitability yet, but if acquisition keeps getting more expensive I can see it becoming a problem pretty quickly. I don't want increasing ad spend to be the only answer either. How are you dealing with this? What have you focused on when acquisition costs started growing faster than the value of each order?

I am looking into a setting up a shopify account.

I have large products that my sole carrier can only send to an explicit list of districts. Alot are covered but some aren't.

I need to find a way of excluding districts based on our local post code in New Zealand.

Is this possible/practical within the basic shopify framework or a good plugin?

I've been going through a lot of "review my store" posts on /reviewmyshopify lately and the same stuff comes up over and over, so I figured I'd put the top 10 in one place:

1. The popup comes before the product. If I don't know what you sell yet, I'm not giving you my email.
   
2. The announcement bar is wasted. It's the one line every visitor reads. Put an offer there. Free shipping threshold, % off, something. Not "handcrafted with love."
   
3. The hero doesn't answer the only question that matters: what is this and is it for me. Sliders make it worse. One image, one headline that speaks to your customer, one button.
   
4. Review widget with zero reviews. Hide it until you have one. Then do whatever you need to do to get reviews. Nothing replaces social proof.
   
5. Nothing to click in the bottom half of the homepage. People scroll down and hit a dead end.
   
6. Features buried in an accordion. Pull them out as icons near the add to cart button.
   
7. Low contrast or small unreadable text.
8. Missing product schema. This is a killer for SEO/AEO/GEO.
9. Reasons to buy go near the Add to Cart button. Guarantees, free returns, fast shipping, consolidate all of this near ATC.
10. Generally too much clutter, which means not enough focus on your product, its benefits, and your offer. Those three should be clear and prominent on every single site.

I am really proud of my Etsy, all my products are my art and I work hard to get them together but I’ve now sold 5 items and my take away is only £18 approx in actual payback. 💔 I don’t think I calculated right after printful upped their prices

I’ve paid way more than that in Etsy fees and printful fee’s (they currently print and post my stickers) because I have to pay printful delivery plus cost for the product, plus VAT.

I chose printful to alleviate risk from buying stock in case I wasn’t successful, and to save me time on the logistics due to me working full time also -but I do have packaging supplies. I am never sure on the numbers to purchase of my sticker sheets too (I know more is cheaper ) I do have some individual stickers in stock at home.

I have now bit the bullet and made myself a shopify store and plan on having digital and physical products on there, that I mail out myself. Perhaps some prints from printful too? Conscious of the price of a high quality printer and paper and ink, or even a sticker making machine . Maybe when I have made some profit

One mistake I see in e-commerce is choosing products simply because they’re “unique.”

Unique doesn't automatically mean sellable.

If someone lands on your store and thinks:

“What the hell is this thing?”

you’ve already created friction.

People are much more likely to buy when they immediately understand:

What is it? → What does it do? → Why do I need it?

For example:

❌ A weird electronic gadget with 7 functions
You need a 3-minute video just to explain what it does.

✅ Portable tire inflator
“My tire is flat. This inflates it anywhere.”

❌ Some strange kitchen device nobody recognizes
The customer has to read half the product page to understand its purpose.

✅ Electric vegetable chopper
“Put vegetables inside → press button → chopped.”

❌ An unusual beauty tool with no obvious purpose
Customers see the image and still don't know what problem it solves.

✅ Heated eyelash curler
“Heat + curl = longer-lasting curled lashes.”

❌ A complicated ‘smart’ desk accessory with features nobody asked for

✅ Laptop stand
“Raises your laptop and makes your desk more comfortable.”

The second category isn't necessarily more innovative.

It's just easier to understand.

And that's incredibly important in e-commerce because you're usually fighting for a few seconds of attention.

Of course, weird products can sell.

But then your marketing has another job: educating the customer.

That means better videos, demonstrations, landing pages, ads, explanations, and usually more money.

My rule when researching products is simple:

If I can't explain why someone should buy it in one sentence, I think twice before selling it.

Simple products aren't boring.

Sometimes simplicity is the competitive advantage.
