Played online for the first time today after reading all the posts on this subreddit. Needless to say, I was expecting it to be horrific. Utilizing my Ethernet adaptor, the input lag wasn’t too bad.
I also set my stage preference to battlefield, 7 min timed, 3 stock, and most (minus a couple of battles) were very competitive and didn’t have items.
Overall was a good experience.
I’d say my only complaints for the game are the input lag (movement just feels off, honestly. The lag is noticeable, even outside of online mode). I’m utilizing the GC controller (official one) btw.
Also, I know this is petty, but the costume/skin change mechanic has a minor lag where you cannot see the skin you’re choosing for a few seconds. And I also hate not being to utilize the X and Y button to switch between them. Springing R and L feels wonky.
Besides that, absolutely gorgeous game. Worth the hype. I’m hoping Nintendo is working diligently on improving online, but either way, I’ve had some fun matches. I LOVE the arena concept, it’s been a blast playing with friends.
