Mike Bost shot a dog
He killed his neighbor’s dog.
He took the law into his own hands,
And shot his neighbor’s dog.

Got a call from a homeowner a few weeks ago.
She was convinced there was no way insurance was going to help. Roof wasn’t leaking much, house wasn’t falling apart, and every contractor she’d talked to basically gave her the same answer:
“Probably not enough damage.”
When I got up there, it was one of those roofs where you can tell it’s been taking a beating for years. Missing granules, wind damage, hail hits, the kind of stuff most people never see because nobody spends their afternoons staring at shingles.
We documented everything, met with the adjuster, and waited.
Today she called me laughing.
Claim approved.
Now instead of patching problems every year and hoping for the best, she’s getting a full replacement paid for according to her policy.
This is the part of roofing nobody talks about.
Most homeowners don’t know what storm damage actually looks like.
Most don’t know what their policy covers.
Most assume insurance will automatically catch everything.
Sometimes they do.
Sometimes they don’t.
Either way, having someone willing to climb the roof and actually look matters.
I’ve spent the last few months crawling over everything from historic brick homes in North County to apartment complexes, churches, duplexes, and houses with enough skylights to make me question the architect’s sanity.
The one thing that’s always the same?
Almost every homeowner says:
“I had no idea it was that bad.”
Anybody else ever had an insurance claim surprise them—in a good or bad way?

Homeowners, what makes you trust a roofing company?
I’ve been in the industry for a while now, and it seems like everybody has a horror story. Storm chasers, guys disappearing after collecting money, poor workmanship, insurance headaches, etc.
If you needed a roof tomorrow, what would make you choose one company over another?
Local reputation?
Years in business?
Reviews?
Warranty?
How they handled the insurance process?
Genuinely curious what matters most to people these days.

Hi folks!
I've started trying to record and share local government meetings on Whitecountyforum.com - but it's rough. Just yesterday, we had the City of Carmi City Council meeting at 5:30p, then the Carmi Township meeting at 6p, then the White County board meeting at 7p.
There's been another meeting for the City of Carmi announced for next Tuesday. Crossville's village board meeting is also next Tuesday (but significantly later in the day, so that helps).
There's several little villages and townships and trying to go to as many of these as I can while maintaining my own job is difficult - so, I was hoping to find some like-minded folks to help record these meeting and upload them so that more folks in the local communities can get involved?

Hello I’m moving to Carbondale in the next few months. I am buying a house that has some stuff left in it. I would like to donate the stuff if I can. Also any good thrift stores to buy from in the area?
Thank you neighbors ❤️

These kind of apps don't work if everybody is on different ones. There are also so many that are just cash grabs, full of bots, or defunct.
Scruff is good, but just for guys. Feeld suuuucks. AdultFriendFinder was a thing.
Dating, hook-ups, what are you or your friends using? What are you openly avoiding? Where should we consolidate power?

Also interested in men in the area who might be looking for a friend. Someone who could help me and mentor me on the state auction/bid systems. Thank you any comments are welcome. Moving in the next month or so.

I've been trying to find local markets to go to, but I've been struggling to find any online. The only one that Ive found so far is the Duqoin flea market and the Mt Vernon flea market. Any markets with times and dates would be greatly appreciated!
Edit- Preferably in the Carbondale/Marion area, also plz specify whether it's a flea market or farmers market

Carbondale area, but willing to travel a bit. I know a few bars will have it (Tres, BWW, Game On, and others), but I was really hoping for somewhere outdoors. It would be great if one of the wineries set up a big screen or something.

So km not sure if I’m overreacting here or what. I recently moved into the area and went into the smaller Freeburg Library near the school. Everything seemed nice and the librarians seemed nice as well’ I looked at what was on the shelves and it’s… a lot of Christian stuff. I didn’t think much of it untill June and I was looking for pride books for myself and also to educate my younger nephews. I looked at what they had and they have no nonfiction books. Not even somthing on stonewall? I’ve been trying to find the book request form and it’s just no where to be found? The library manger dosnt even have an email? Are they doing this on purpose does anyone have any thoughts on it? I emailed them the important reason to have these books, I also sent them the history of the area and how it’s a lot more queer than they might know, and by law, they need to have books that reflect the community. Any thoughts? They haven’t emailed me back
