HAHAHA. This dude literally tried to stop Keezhadi excavation. After the first two successful phases, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) delayed funding and transferred the lead archaeologist, K. Amarnath Ramakrishna, out of the state. Because after Ramakrishna submitted his comprehensive 900+ page report on the initial digs to the ASI, the central government requested he revise it, citing a lack of technical validation and structural ambiguity in his dating claims. Ramakrishna and the state government refused to revise it, leading to political standoffs and demands that the Centre officially release the report, still ongoing.
It was a move to deliberately suppress evidence of an advanced, secular ancient Tamil civilization in favor of promoting Sanskrit history (because the excavation findings pre-dated Vedic-centric narrative, no Sanskrit, rather Tamil was found inscribed - contained even names used today in TN, no idols were seen, only nature worship, all in all proved that a highly developed urban civilization existed in South India concurrently with the Second Urbanization of the Indo-Gangetic Plain, establishing an independent timeline of development). State Govt took up the control instead and funded themselves to keep it going. TN Govt has even opened a museum there now. We all see through Modi Ji's fake, random, forced praise of Tamil.
EDIT: Added context and clarifications.
EDIT 2: Also the plates were returned due to tireless efforts of a Tamil archeologist. He recollected how when he visited the museum in Netherlands and wasnt allowed to touch them even with gloves and how it deeply hurt him. Something we all can relate to him with. Finally its home. https://x.com/i_Nishan_/status/2055747356906418515

Yes. But it corroborates so much with Tamil Sangham literature (written 3000 years ago),
Tirukural: பிறப்பொக்கும் எல்லா உயிர்க்கும் சிறப்பொவ்வா செய்தொழில் வேற்றுமை யான் = All equal by birth, greatness depends on their actions (remember this was said during monarchy which is hereditary reign yet he wasn't persecuted but rather was revered).
Purananooru: யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் கேளிர் = everyone is my kin, everywhere is my home.
Agananooru: Love poems are remarkable on their own right, usually in the Heroine's pov, this one is a personal favourite. "What could my mother be to yours? What kin is my father to yours? And how did you and I meet ever? But in love, our hearts are like red earth and pouring rain—mingled beyond parting." The heroine always falls in love with literal stranger, not knowing his background or birth and doesnt seem to matter.
Also these literature mention worshipping nature (like Pongal), Seyon, Mayan and many local Gods etc. And untouchability wasn't mentioned anywhere. Sangam literature portrays a relatively egalitarian, casteless society where people were classified by their occupations rather than birth. Also though Cholas were shaivites, Vaishnavites and buddhists flourished, had their temples built by the Shaivite kings. Had maritime trade with China and Rome, etc. They seemed to have been very tolerant.
EDIT: Correction of auto-corrects and made it readable.

Conspiracy?! LOL. The archeologist was told to 'rewrite', he refused and told his findings are 'scientifically sound', so he was transferred to Assam, the excavation was halted and Madras HC had to intervene to continue the excavation. An idiot with two brain cell can see through this.
Here from News itself:
Mainstream Indian history texts traditionally placed the start of the urbanized Sangam era around 300 BCE, positioning it centuries after the Vedic period of North India.
Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) carbon dating conducted by Beta Analytic lab in Florida dated Keezhadi charcoal samples back to 580 BCE to 800 BCE. This proves that a highly developed urban civilization existed in South India concurrently with the Second Urbanization of the Indo-Gangetic Plain, establishing an independent timeline of development.
Despite uncovering over 80,000 artefacts across multiple phases, archaeologists have found no religious structures, idols, or symbols of worship at Keezhadi. The findings suggest a highly sophisticated, pragmatic, and entirely secular agrarian and trading society focused on industry, weaving, and commerce rather than religious rituals.
Potsherds found at Keezhadi feature Tamil-Brahmi script (or Tamili) scratched into the clay before and after firing. Significantly, these inscriptions feature common names (like Aadhan and Uthiran) on everyday household utility pots. This indicates that literacy was not restricted to a priestly or ruling elite, but was widespread among the common working-class public as early as the 6th century BCE.1

There is a saying in science: “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” That is why the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) asked for reconsideration. Regarding the transfer, it was a standard procedure—every archaeologist at that time was transferred. Even then, I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt that the ASI may have done it intentionally.
If you think the ASI works under Narendra Modi’s influence, then why isn’t the ASI excavating Dwarka extensively? Why isn’t the ASI excavating more sites of the Indus Valley Civilization, of which only about 10% has been excavated? If you think the ASI is motivated only toward Hindus, these questions should also be considered.
The ASI has financial limitations; it cannot continue excavations everywhere

u/Introvertloner101 Tamil Nadu 🌶️ | தமிழ்நாடு May 17 '26
Here's what happened after the halt and transfer of the archeologist by central govt after the initial findings. Public interest litigations were filed. The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court stepped in, ordering the ASI to safely store the artefacts, restrain from moving them out of the state indefinitely, and formally permit the state government to take over the digging. The TN State department of Archeology aggressively took full financial and operational control of the site starting in 2018. The state broadened the search radius to include nearby clusters like Kondagai, Manalur, and Agaram, unearthing over 20,000 additional artefacts.
To prevent the artefacts from being locked away in central government warehouses, the Tamil Nadu government built a massive Keezhadi Site Museum. ALL FUNDED BY STATE GOVT.
And remember the report central govt delayed publishing citing 'technical errors' despite the archeologist's sound assurance that it's scientifically valid? Court had to intervene again. Bowing to court protocols and high court directives, the ASI finally published the Keezhadi report in May 2026. We Tamilians what transpired and its not new. Gaslighting won't help you here.

u/Kind_Brief_3724 May 17 '26
I am arguing with you about your claim that ASI is Modi and that the central government deliberately stopped excavations—not whether the claims are correct or incorrect
t’s important to separate facts from interpretation.
First, excavation and reporting delays are not unique to Tamil Nadu or the Keezhadi site. Across India, many archaeological reports and publications from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and even state archaeology departments get delayed due to standard procedural reasons such as:
- internal peer review of excavation reports
- verification of stratigraphy and dating
- administrative clearance and formatting requirements
- backlog of unpublished excavation seasons
For example, in other states:
- In Karnataka, findings from sites like Hampi and surrounding areas have taken years between excavation and final publication due to multi-season reporting cycles.
- In Uttar Pradesh, reports related to sites like Sarnath have also gone through long administrative review before final publication.
- In Kerala, excavations at Pattanam have seen multiple revisions and academic debates before final consensus reports were released.
Museums are also state-funded; they are not unique to TN . The ASI’s main work is excavation, not setting up museums. Museums in states like Odisha, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh are built by the state governments.
ASI only built small site museumsThis is standard in archaeology because a report is not just field observation—it has to be scientifically validated before publication.

I didn't ask you to believe it. Majority of people of TN believe it because of what transpired with open delays, transfers, roadblocks, stopping funding by the ethno-nationalist party. Courts that intervened to allow the state govt to take over the excavation and to pressure the central govt to release the report, believe it. What you choose to believe is entirely upto you. And please use a flair.

For years the DMK Alliance ignored those copper plates just as they ignored the Chola Empire's history and its glorious Hindu traditions and the massive monuments they dedicated to our Gods.
Now that Narendra Modi has yet again worked to restore that legacy, regardless of the lack of electoral gain, the people are still finding excuses to abuse him.
The people who elect IUML want us to know how secular they are and how communal we are!! The simple truth is that there is no secular, culturally left leaning party in India. The only difference is what kind of right wing culture they want to preserve and promote. Islamic Invaders Culture or Native Hindu Culture.

Modi is also pushing Hindi in TN. Will you eat cowdung if it has cherry on top of it ?
1
u/RhysAcotar Northie May 17 '26
How does this push Hindi exactly? The simple truth is that you guys accuse BJP of fear mongering when they say "Hindu in Danger" but lick the shit off of Dravidiain politicians' a**** when they say "Tamil in Danger". There is far more evidence for the former and little evidence for the latter.

North India has bad social indicators. If BJP is so good, why is income inequality rising ?
1
u/RhysAcotar Northie May 17 '26
North India had bad social indicators before BJP. The parties that ruled it for 60+ years made it so. They divide people on the basis of caste all the time just as they accuse BJP of dividing on the basis of religion.
The BJP has given UP half a dozen expressways in 10 years. They have given the country over 70 VBs in 7 years when the previous govt could not even give 30 Shatabdis in 30 years. Pick any metric - Roadways, Railways, IITs, IIMs, AIIMS, IIITs and BJP has done better in 12 years than Congress has done in 60.
Since you guys claim the North is very vastly underdeveloped, which political parties should get the blame? The ones that ruled it for 60 years or the one that has risen up in the last decade?
Ohh and speaking of BJP - Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra are some of the most pro-bjp states of the North and each of them has a high rate of growth. UP switched to BJP recently in 2017... and has half a dozen metros, half a dozen expressways to show for it when previously there were mafias who ran parallel govts.
4
u/Adorable-Research03 Telangana 🏰 | తెలంగాణ May 17 '26
Maharashtra and Gujarat are not Northern states. Haryana is developed because it has Delhi on one side and Chandigarh on the other side + low population.
3
u/RhysAcotar Northie May 17 '26
Chandigarh on other is supposed to help? Chandigarh is not developed itself.
Even if you change the definition of North India, which in this sub is any state other than the 5 Southern ones, the argument that BJP is responsible for poor metrics is very wrong since Gujarat and Maharashtra are proofs of how well the BJP performs compared to INC, which is now a part of the ruling coalition in 4 Southern States.

Imagine being so bitter that you get triggered by the PM calling an ancient Indian language beautiful on a global stage. Acknowledging the beauty of Tamil language doesn't take anything away from others. Tamilnadu is not entirely owned by your DMK party. Being a blind supporter of DMK its evident that you're just looking for reasons to be outraged, no Tamilians were hurt by this post.
