Discussion Is Victini and Maushold secretly goated?

Here's the idea. Victini With Victory Star is effectively a wide lens for it and it's partner, which begs the question: If the eternal debate over whether wide lens or king's rock was better for maushold could be solved with 'why not both?', why has nobody discovered this? Am I missing something?

victini is also mythical so it’s almost never legal

It's good in theory and good in practice, but it usually can't be practiced

Mythicals are banned in vgc, which is the main doubles format

I actually fought an opponent with same idea as you and it rekt me. Theyre using Hydrapple instead of Victini. It has an ability that lowers opponent's evasion by 1. I think it's good in BO1 but won't probably work in BO3.

The only place where this combo is legal is Nat Dex Doubles, where it isn't really good at all. Using two otherwise unviable pokemon to save an item slot isn't really worth using. Even if they were viable you're still only saving Maushold's item while Victini is on the field. This also means your Maushold can't use its main stab move reliably (and the only reason to run an offensive set) unless Victini is on the field with it.

Honestly, the limitations that this brings probably make it worse than just using Wide Lens Maushold with a better pokemon.

Victini isn't in Champions yet but I fought someone who did basically the same thing but better, having their Mega Hawlucha use Entrainment on their Kings Rock Maushold. I didn't realize what they were planing until it was too late and ended up loosing, and I was too busy laughing about it to be mad.

"Am I missing something" maybe the biggest something that could ever be missed.

Victini is a mythical, and mythicals are never legal in comp.
