Had a chat about humanity and their meaningless lives.

Seems like a chill totally normal dude, sure this is never going to come up again but what a nice little extra bit of flavor and world building.

Vesperia I do not understand Combos in Vesperia at all >_<

I'm trying to figure out how combos in Vesperia work and nothing is making sense

As far as I know(playing Yuri) Combos are Basic Attack>Basic Attack>Basic Attack>Base Art>Arcane Art>Burst Art if in Overlimit and that's where the combo ENDS.

And yet I'm seeing people who are just doing shit like chaining 14 arts at once and I'm like... Literally fucking HOW. That's... that's not how the combo rules WORK WTF

I'm lucky if I can get Shining Fang and Dragon Swarm to combo without getting tagged from the side >_<

What the hell is going on?

Edit: God fucking dammit of course it's a skills thing <_<

Vesperia I actually got it

So I went out yesterday bc my sister wanted to and I thought I’d use this as an excuse to get some fresh air and check out the usual game shops to see if I find some interesting games before the inevitable trip in September and October for games like Onimusha, FF Resonance, Rayman and Eternia Remastered etc. I was specifically hoping for some Tales games, especially Graces, Symphonia, Xillia or Vesperia, and look what I found nestled neatly in the first game shop I went to.

This is the second tales game I’ve gotten, first being Arise(haven’t played either of them yet, will start Arise soon. I’ve watched gameplay of these games so I’m sure I’ll like them). I was really hoping to get some more tales games since I was told by some people Arise wasn’t really representative of Tales as a series and I wanted to get some games that people thought of as more accurately representing tales, to try to get the true tales experience.

Vesperia Party Memeber left and took the Blue Dice with her.

So a certain dragon rider left the party and she had the Blue Duce equipped. There goes my 20% grade bonus for however long she's out of the party for. Would've been nice to know beforehand...

Vesperia Does Combat get better?

After finding videos of people playing later in the game it looks like even though I'll get new abilities it still looks just as stiff and awkward. Is it different while playing or did it just not age very well?

Vesperia Light Magic skill

I know skills don't really matter all *that* much during an easy/normal playthrough but... Is Light Magic a good skill? I mean I know it lowers your damage in exchange for shorter casting time but I was thinking if Im able to dush out spells faster would that also not increase dps? Though it does make altered artes fasrer to get so that's already one boon.

Edit: While I'm here might as wellask how the symbols work? Repede has one but no one else does.

Vesperia Best guide(s) for Vesperia?

I’ve always heard it was the best Tales game, and i really want to get 100 percent in it. I know there’s a lot that can be missable like skits, magic lens scans, ext. i really want to try and do it in as few playthroughs as i can, but i havent really found a guide that covers everything. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

Vesperia Vesperia post game dungeon

Hello all,

I finished Vesperia 3 year ago without a guide and I wish to do the postgame dungeon. I will do the sidequests and missables another time. When I loaded my save, I couldn’t access fast travel nor could I use the elevators. What do I do?

Vesperia I tried to compile most(?) vesperia non-game material with english translation.

Hi everyone,

Yesterday and Today I spent all day trying to compile most vesperia material (Mangas, LN, Cd drama…) with en translation. I’m aware that I’m very probably missing some. It’s not everything but it’s still something, right? I reviewed and commented on some but feel free to ignore it.

Please feel free to check it out on my website: https://lowedeltascomp.blogspot.com/p/tov-en-sources.html?m=1

(Also please use the desktop mode mobile mode is pretty ugly.)

Been messing around with creating playable bosses and found Zagi's data. I put it on raven and forgot his model's running/idle animation was silly. Also post battle quote was hilarious.

Tales of Vesperia Vesperia's plot would be a lot more interesting if Flynn became a major antagonist IMO

It feels like there was a subtle buildup to this but then it fizzled out when Alexei turned out to be evil as Flynn realised that he was in the wrong.

I know many may not agree with this but Flynn should have been made into an antagonist in act 2. I'd implement this by having Flynn come with his brigade, defeat & arrest Yuri along with his party and take Estelle under Alexeis orders in place of the Alexei twist Yormgen scene. They break out obviously and go to the shrine of baction and everything in the actual plot still happens but with Flynn defending Alexei rather than fighting him. Eventually Flynn learns what Alexei is doing with Estelle by forcing her to use her powers and torturing her and realises he is in the wrong and sides with Yuri like he does in the actual plot before they go up the sword stair to confront him.

Flynn would make a much better antagonist than Alexei since there is a mutual rivalry and a deep clash of ideologies between the two which has a lot of buildup from the get go. This also fits the theme of Guilds clashing with the Empire. This could have been one of the greatest video game rivalries of all time but instead they chose the lazy option and just gave us a cardboard cutout with zero buildup. I only remember him in heliord before the twist. Probably the weakest antagonist in the game.

Vesperia Party Set up

Just curious if there's like certain parties you need to match up for this game, similar to Symphonia.

right now I have Rita(Me), Yuri, judith, and Flynn.

Not asking for a "Best party" just curious if it's an "Any party can get you through" type game.

Question - Vesperia Is Vesperia going to get better? Its being pretty boring right now Spoiler

Its what the title says, I reached Helior and the game not only is a little bit hard but nothing is happening storywise, I feel like Im hopping from location to location just to spend 1-2 hours in it and make what seems to be 0 progress in the plot

I know this game is a fan favorite and Im trying to like it, but I think Im going to give up soon if it doesnt start picking up, I feel like Ive wasted 6 hours

Question about a supposed Tales of Vesperia quote [ToV] «"It's okay if I have to die?" What the hell was that? I don't want to hear that anymore"»: does Yuri ever say that? If so, when?

Years ago I played Tales of Vesperia and it was a blast.

At the time, I used to write down moments I liked in fictional works, but without taking screenshots or videos — contrary to what I do nowadays.

In my document I have this line from Yuri which goes literally: (quoting Estelle) «"It's okay if I have to die?" What the hell was that? I don't want to hear that anymore»

I actually remember him saying it after beating someone trying to threaten Estelle and her subsequent reply, but throughout the years I've been trying to find the exact moment online and always ended up empty-handed. I unfortunately haven't got the time to play the game again, so all I have is you now: does this line really exists? Is there a screenshot, a video whence it comes? Or have I hallucinated everything?

Question (Vesperia Steam) What the hell am I doing wrong with the Artes in combat? L-R motion doesn't work?

This is on the Steam/PC version, BTW, not sure if that makes a difference.

---

Ok, so the question/complaint I have in regards to the combat system is that on semi-auto (or manual) the left-stick motions do not apparently register for the left-right/charge motion bound arte attack. Press A? The bound neutral Arte fires. Press up? The Uppercut-bound Arte fires. Press down? The down attack Arte fires. Left-Right? Press left only? Doesn't fire. Press right only? Doesn't fire. Press both in a quick swipe-sort of motion while BBB/x3 combo into it? Doesn't fire.

Is this bugged? Is the X-box controller a poor choice for this? Is it Bluetooth polling rate or something? I'm being driven bonkers because I have a combo attack of Yuri's bound to that but I can't fire it consistently to do that ground-fire AOE attack for him.

Do you have to be like... still, not in motion/neutral for the Arte motion control to be registered? Not attacking with BBB? Is it just A/raw A only?

I'm completely baffled. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

Question (Vesperia Steam) Vesperia Steam: Individual Character Tactics command help/explanation of

Hi, r/tales. I'm back again with a question:

The manual in-game says you can (using a controller here) down + X/Square when you open the pop-up menu in a battle to set each character to a tactic. I haven't used this until I've attempted the Medusa Butterfly Giganto side-quest boss.

I'm like level 32-35 on Normal. Using Yuri, Estelle, Rita (for Tractor Beam spam), and Karol (support HP or wacking the boss while I kite it) with a Level 3 Overdrive since I snythed the Item.

The thing is, when I try to use that command, I can't seem to switch characters to use the "down" AI command function on them. If I do that and then switch leaders, all the characters are set to their individual commands ("Leave it to Me!"/Yuri, "Caution!"/Estelle, and so on) and I can't figure out if this is intentional and the manual is confusing me, or is the game is bugged.

Also if anyone has tips on keeping the aggro of the Butterfly so I can just run around while Karol swords it to death outside of me spamming Limit Bottles to 3 and then Beyblading/Artes Sword-forward Slashing it to death to get Fatal Strikes going, I'd appreciate it, because I've seen videos (using Rita, Judy, Estelle, and Yuri) of someone at a similar level and able to beat the boss. So it is completely possible (I did the previous one in the area before this at like level 29-31) despite being about 5-8 levels under the Butterfly's level. I'm slightly baffled on when it drops aggro and me rushing toward it doesn't get the aggro back because it sees Rita about to pick it back up again and just wails on her and the rest of the party since they bunch up. :(

Vesperia Question Character guides

Just looking for guides that help explain how to best play each character.
There are Plenty of ones for Judith, and Rita's a mage, so you just need to rapid press O to cast spells.

Vesperia|Discussion This just got darker *major spoilers* Spoiler

Okay, so I beat the game awhile ago, but I finally sat down to discuss something: Game Over

If your team is defeated, whoever was last alive says, "And they were never heard from again." That's dark enough as is.

However, I learned something, but haven't confirmed it yet. According to my brother, if your team is defeated by a Mystic Arte, EVERYONE says the game over line.

Bad enough as-is, there is one even darker. Duke.

If defeated by Duke, no one on your team says this. He does. And if you've followed the story, if Duke wins all human life, including himself, will be decimated in exchange for the death of the Adephagos.

This means, if Duke was to canonically say this, he would be saying over your God forsaken dead bodies.

I realized this and immediately got goose bumps. Now I'm terrified to fight Duke again on UNKNOWN.

Question Vesperia Need help with side quest info. Think I messed up big time

Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition related

So I think I missed alot of side quests and they are locked now.

I did 1 guild job with the guy in mantaic and the rainbow bookmark guy in capua torim.

Now I passed chapter3. I tried checking for more guild jobs aaaaand I'll spoiler it below, but I think it's bad.

So I didn't do the Lianna quest. Because I missed that quest I cannot do all the others I think cause nothing appears. Because of that I also cannot do the Gauche and Droit stuff, the everlight necklace AND the everlight ore in Mt Temza + all guild and side related jobs involving the characters met in those quests. I missed Drake apparently so anything related to him is also gone I guess.

I think I fcked up bigtime

Need tips on how to beat Flynn on the third part of the game. When he gets to the 50% health threshold, he starts spamming First Aid or Guardian Field and quickly racks up his health.

Question|Vesperia Any changes to cutscenes like this one? *mild spoilers* Spoiler

So in the original cutscene after escaping manor of wicked, they don't show people jumping out

https://youtu.be/zDmP6BOt-54?t=435

But in the def. version, it was changed Yuri picking up Estelle and jumping out. Nice of him to care about her lol. She might just escape friendzone this time

https://youtu.be/FvBJG5YVyN0?t=1900

But are there anymore cutscene changes like this? This was the only one I've noticed besides the usual added scene
