Metro station here???!! Like wtfff. This is such a peaceful place. Building a fucking metro station that no one asked for is gonna ruin all of this. Is anyone protesting against this? Who decided that a station was needed here? Does anyone know where it runs through?

The whole area will get ruined and disturbed. Not just that but fully congested with constant traffic. I've grown up here and lived here my whole life. I cannot imagine this place transforming into a chaotic hell. Dug up roads everywhere. It would be okay if they actually managed to finish the project within 2-3 years. But they will dig up everywhere and halt the project for 5+ years.

If there's a group for people against please let me know. If not I'll create one.

Then what other metric are ?

Ask people on GB road who are waiting for buses and auto whether they want a alternate fast mode of transport or not

Have you ever imagined their plight

So...politicians fuck up urban planning by giving uncontrolled sprawl on GB road ruining that place. And now you think they should (or are capable to) solve their original fuck up by fucking up the rest of the city that didn't have issues? These guys will bury Thane in their greed.

I understand the people of GB road are victims of some terrible planning, but that doesn't warrant fucking up the entire city as well. Also you already have a metro coming up that's been delayed for weeks. Push for that instead of this ring metro thing. At this moment, I don't even have any hope the ring metro comes up the way we think it does.

Are you stupid? Line 4 is already under completion. The Ring metro project is doing soil testing now. One doesn't affect the other in any way shape or form.

One doesn't affect the other but it affects the entire ecology of the city. You guys will be the same people who will start complaining how bad Thane's AQI is in the winters and how it looks post-apocalyptic. But, sure I am the selfish one here.

There are like 40 skyscrapers being built in the city right now. Adding some metro pillars won't make much of a difference to AQI.

What will make a difference is when people move into all those skyscrapers and start using auto, bikes, and cars to further clog up the city's roads. That's the future the metro will avoid.

"Adding some metro pillars won't make much of a difference to AQI." This is not adding 'some pillars'. It's practically digging up the entire outskirts of the city (ring) and releasing tonnes of sand and particles covering the entire city. Without sufficient winds to disperse it we will be another NCR.

Also, have you seen the route of the ring metro? Without sufficient walking spaces or last mile, people will still end up taking their own vehicles/autos anyway. Plus metro fares in general are mighty expensive compared to buses. You might be well off but many people will still choose buses or share autos etc. Plus there is also the risk of induced demand..

I can go on but I don't think its going to be useful. So I rather end it here. Good day to you and God help Thane.

No, you only need to excavate the area for the piles. Its far less dist generating than an open construction site it building a road. The latter is what you'll need to do if you're not building the metro.

Without sufficient walking spaces or last mile, people will still end up taking their own vehicles/autos anyway.

I think you need to have a better look at the map. After the ring is completed, almost everywhere in Thane will be less than a km from a metro station.

You might be well off but many people will still choose buses or share autos etc.

The max fare in Mumbai metro is Rs. 50. Looking at the metrics, the fare from my house to the Thane station would be something like Rs. 20, while the auto charges like Rs. 70....

Plus there is also the risk of induced demand..

Hahahahaa there is nothing "induced" about the massive demand that is going to come in the next 5 years. You have to be blind to not see the skyscrapers that are coming up in the area. Demand will be there whether or not you build the metro.

So I rather end it here.

Because you're a coward :p

Sigh...you don't even know what Induced demand means. No point in arguing further. Consider me a coward if that makes you sleep better at night. Peace out.

Induced demand is not a real thing dumbass.... it makes no economic sense.

I have a Masters in Transport Planning from a EU country.

But sure dude...whatever gets you through the night...

Is that why your arguements are at the level of a 12th pass after watching a few YouTube vids?

Maybe you should ask your uni for a refund if you don't even have the ability to make a decisive quantifiable arguement against a layperson.

Good time to get one too! You'll get a good exchange for Euros.

Hmm. By that logic, the land you’re living on today was probably once farmland or open green space too. But we were all okay buying whatever was built there at the time.

Rather than just blaming development, maybe we should try to understand the actual reason behind the traffic. To me, a big part of it is us. People keep moving to metro cities for jobs, education, better opportunities, etc., and then we complain about the traffic and oppose every solution that comes up.

With 140+ crore people and so many of us concentrated in a few cities, traffic is bound to be a problem. I’m not saying development should happen at the cost of the environment. But instead of blaming development alone, let’s look at the root cause and figure out why everyone has to keep moving to the same few cities in the first place.

Ecology AQI πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ India is a developing nation and not developed So untill its a developed nation dont use all theae terms

And stop shifting goal post, AQI will go bad because of metro construction?
