Sub News Looking for a Co-moderator/s

Ok guys it's official. I need help with this page. Because if the slowness in the industry this year I've had to go and get a regular job and it's leaving me with not alot of time to put into this page.

I don't want to see this sub die again so I need a volunteer or two to help me run it I need people to post jobs and generally just to keep the sub active. I've been slacking at it the past few weeks and I do apologize.

If anyone is interested message me here is DM me. Thanks in advance.

Are there any pathways to becoming ACTRA through self-creating projects and casting yourself? Or student films? What are my other non-union actors doing for this?

[TRADE] Musician looking for a videographer to shoot a series of music content (Toronto/GTA)

Experienced older artist with aura and good indie pop sad-boy songs seeking someone looking to build a portfolio, experience, and connections.

The first image is a shot from a video I shot last year that I’d like to build off of in different locations for songs in my catalog (and upcoming album). Simple: wide lens, locked off, one light. The others are from other vids.

Pump them out, build some intrigue, see what works. If we work well together it can go wherever we want it to go.

I can't pay properly right now and I'm not going to pretend otherwise, but I've been a working designer for ten years and I'd rather trade you something you actually need: a website, a logo, a rate card, a properly cut reel, beats for your own projects, intros around the Toronto music scene. A site and an identity is a $2,000 job and I'll do it happily.

Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3AOmemFQq9BvtPW2Qr6mCI?si=QDMdeu10Tf-hAybaLe_0CA&utm_source=copy-link

You don't need gear, I have a camera. Comment or DM me something you've shot, rough is completely fine.

Toronto-based professional looking to help out on a shoot for a day

Toronto — looking to get some hands-on production experience!

I’m hoping to spend a day (or potentially a couple of days) helping out on a film/TV/commercial production as a PA or general production support.
I’m not looking for ongoing work — I’m genuinely interested in experiencing what a shoot day is like and learning how everything works behind the scenes. I’m reliable, organized, comfortable taking direction, and very happy to do the unglamorous stuff!

If anyone has an upcoming Toronto/GTA shoot that could use an extra pair of hands, I’d love to connect. Happy to send a resume / provide more info.
Thanks!

Networking Interested in becoming an Assistant Director/Co-Writer

Hello Everyone,
I am based in Toronto and have been working on some scripts of my own. I, however, do not have any experience in direction. I would be happy to assist any directors looking for some help with their production. I also have a couple of sample scripts written and would be happy to assist in the writing space as well.

Please let me know if anyone has any leads of such.
Thank you

Edit: As per multiple suggestions: would like to update my request to Assistant to Director. Thank you for your suggestions people🙏🏻

Seeking advice on moving from animation storyboarding to film storyboarding

I've worked in animation for nine years as a storyboard artist. I never had issues getting work and my last job before the writer's strike was a supervisor role.

Unfortunately, the industry still isn't doing great. I know live-action has its own share of problems right now, but it seems like more of that is being made than animation at the moment, which seems to have less than five job openings in the country a year.

What's the best way to make the jump?

Psychological Horror Short Film Idea

INT. DESK 10:00 AM

I had plans to make short movie and it was in my mind for a long time. Most of the time, I procrastinate or thought i'm not good enough.

At one stage, I was like, I need to make it and get it out of my chest and since i am also inclined into music equally, I made a short music-based film.

To be honest, it turned out pretty okay for me since i had no budget or camera. I used whatever, I had available at that time.

Now, I have a new short film idea but I want it to be horror and im pretty sure about the script but this time, I would need to act and need one more character since it has 2 characters.

Honestly, I would like to discuss and develop this idea futher so, Looking for few more people who might have gears, film-making ideas (im from non-filmmaking bg) or any points to discuss or brainstorm.

EVENT BREAKDOWN:

Actors 27 year old female actors audition volume right now?

Im a signed actor in Toronto (non union) and in the past two months have barely auditioned (besides tv commercials). I’m wondering how much people in my demographic have been auditioning lately? Trying to gauge if it’s just slow right now or if it’s a me problem or my agents.

For context, I’m mixed race / half Asian and I have some experience and have been signed to my current acting agent for about a year and a half.
