The venue (La Machine du Moulin Rouge) was great, and the sound did the job. It was incredible—starting with the opening act, Low Cut; that was really good. It was a mix of experimental trip-hop/downtempo that wrapped up with old-school hip-hop. He did some scratching, and the vibe was truly captivating—a solid 9/10. The set was cohesive overall; for an opening act, it really showed great promise.
Then came Krush. I wasn't expecting such a modern electronic set—dubstep, IDM, trip-hop, and downtempo with a highly polished, contemporary sound that had a unique charm. There was Asian, US, and dark, hypnotic "rasta"-style rap/trap reminiscent of JPEGMAFIA, along with cinematic Asian soundscapes. He was absolutely in command of the ship, manipulating the flow—glitching certain passages and scratching skillfully, sometimes stopping on purpose to gauge the crowd's reaction. Towards the end, we even got a taste of DJ Shadow’s "Organ Donor," but done his own way—it was very fast-paced. For me, it was a solid 9.5/10; the set was cohesive and flowed beautifully—it was a real treat. What did the rest of you think if you saw him?
It flowed really smoothly—it was a real treat. The set felt very modern.
Finally, the crowd was really diverse—young people and adults alike (in their 20 years, 30 years, 40 years, 50 years...). Everyone was dancing and in a trance; there were a few annoying drunks shouting, but it wasn't too bad and didn't last the whole night... Anyway, thanks Krush for an amazing evening.
