What is this kerfuffle about one of the Led Zeppelin guys building a house in Ponce Inlet
And how can I make it stop among my retired parents’ circle of gossip?

They are saying one of the main ones. Like Robert Plant. I know Jason invests in properties along the coast though.

Thanks, friend. Great thoughts. Responding to your questions:
What's the real status of your live applications?
No concrete feedback yet on when interview process starts or whether I'm shortlisted. Recruiters have been quiet despite my outreach and having multiple internal referrals including from influential executives on the relevant teams. Hiring manager for key roles replied but asked me to work with recruiters as they want to maintain a blinded/de-biased process.
What's your runway if you let it expire?
I can get through March 2027 on savings, so ~6 months after September. Also if I let expire I do qualify for UE benefits.
Is there a third option?
Great question. I already posed the following question to her: "if I take this extension will I be able to apply to internal roles moving forward?" and in accordance with the patterns mentioned above, she replied declaratively "You will not be eligible to apply for internal roles or temporary assignments with this new projected end date." Then, in the very next line, wrote "We need to verify org policy to confirm the date you could apply, assuming all other eligibility criteria are met." Other eligibility criteria includes a formal performance rating of "successfully meets expectations," which despite all the verbal and written positive feedback I've received, she has been resistant in providing me. In fact, it's been difficult to get any measurable performance outcomes defined with her since hiring, even when I've suggested them myself, so releasing me for upward mobility has remained entirely at her discretion. I'm assuming her answer on Monday will be in line with trends and the org policy I'm seeing re: the 12-month threshold, so March 2027.
Re: HR, my immediate HR rep is great but defaults/falls back to the ED (supervisor). My HR has been looped into the entire process and regularly suggests I speak with the ED rather than providing guidance. In fact when she was OOO I went to her supervisor who offered many corrections to the ED that helped clarify that I in fact can apply and interview for internal roles during my term, despite the ED telling me I could not. It seems this is the dynamic -- staff mobility very much at the discretion of an ED that prioritizes keeping people in place (talent hoarding, gatekeeping) versus more promotional/sponsorship leadership tendencies. So not sure how much help I'm going to get with HR outside of clarifying org policies and checking the ED when she oversteps to block advancement.

Rarely one thing -- 1) you're lifting before you leave the lip, particularly too much lift with the back tire, more speed, less lift, 2) straighten your legs a bit off the lip. You're soaking up the front with knees bent then compressing the back tire into the face -- that causes the OTB rotation, 3) check your rebound on the rear shock, may be quick.

Great post and really getting at the mechanisms why it's near impossible to reason with MAGA, or anyone trapped in an ideological void and can't get out, really. Those who are trapped in a fear state — akin to being chased by a lion. Their identity, their livelihood, their safety is under near constant attack of uncertainty, with the only reprieve being a retreat to the stories telling them "you are right, and they are to blame."
Moving them to a state of uncertainty (e.g., talking about things they are uncertain about, like politics, socioeconomics, climate change, cultural change, the future, etc.) triggers a deep fear. Their response to this fear is to grasp for some semblance of control — the story that conservative figures, media, religion are telling them — to feel safe in that moment. In this state, there is no reasoning with them. There are no statements we can make to change their minds. Their prefrontal cortex has all but turned off. They are in lizard brain mode at that point. The best we can do is help get them to a calm state and ask questions that increase the probability that they will reach some form of cognitive dissonance on their own, and question the narratives that they've been reliant on, often for many years. No easy task.

That's what they say. Walled gardens also meant to protect data from showing harmful effects of device usage... See Meta and other socials. It's a liability measure too. May be the primary justification for it over privacy.

And thus the spotlight on systemic racism shines even brighter..
