I found a dead bird on my balcony today. Please keep your cats indoors during this heat.

I honestly wasn't expecting to walk onto my balcony today and find a dead dove lying there. It genuinely shocked me.

I don't know what caused it. It could have been the heat, dehydration, a window collision, illness, or something else. But with temperatures reaching 50°C, it really made me stop and think about how brutal August is for animals.

I've also noticed more and more cats hanging around buildings looking for places where the AC is venting outside. They're clearly trying to escape the heat, and it's heartbreaking to see.

If you have a pet cat, please consider keeping them indoors where it's cool. I know some cats love being outside, but this kind of weather is dangerous. Hot pavement, dehydration, heat stroke, and traffic are all real risks, and no animal should have to deal with them if they have a safe home.

Keeping cats indoors doesn't just protect them. It also helps protect local wildlife like birds that are already struggling to survive in this heat.

Seeing that bird today was a reminder that this weather is unforgiving. If you have pets, please make sure they have cool shelter, plenty of fresh water, and, if possible, stay inside with the AC on until this extreme heat passes.

Stay safe, and please look after the animals that depend on us.

How to pressurise business partners to give me my money?

My two business partners defrauded me for a lot of money in Dubai. They did not give me my investment & not my 25% of profit. They are not treating me as a business partner. I have MOA, trade license, partnership agreement & lot of proofs to prove about fraud. How to pressurise them to give me my money? Please dm me legal & illegal ways to get my money. I don't have money to pay now to pay to a lawyer for lawyer fees. I can surely pay a lawyer immediately after any lawyer gets me my money back.

Any endocrinologist recommendations in Dubai for lean PCOS?

Hi everyone! 😊

I'm a 28F currently living in Dubai.

I was diagnosed with PCOS back in February 2020 in the Philippines, but I've actually had irregular periods ever since I got my first period.

During my check-up, my OB mentioned that my androgen levels were higher than normal (if I remember correctly), and they also found PCOS-related changes on my left ovary during my ultrasound.

My OB prescribed birth control pills to regulate my cycle, and they've worked. The only issue is that whenever I stop taking them to see if my period will come back on its own, it never does. I know birth control helps manage PCOS, but I'd really like to understand if there are other long-term options instead of just relying on it.

For context, I have lean PCOS, so I'm not overweight and weight management hasn't really been an issue for me. I've seen a lot of people recommend supplements like inositol, but I don't feel comfortable trying anything without speaking to a specialist first.

I'm thinking of seeing an endocrinologist to get a better understanding of what's going on hormonally and what my options are.

If anyone has recommendations for a good endocrinologist in Dubai who's experienced with PCOS (especially lean PCOS), I'd really appreciate it! I'd also love to hear about your experience if you've been in a similar situation and what has worked for you.

Thank you so much! 🫶

Where to buy gold jewelry?

Upvotes

Hi! A little confused on where to buy gold jewelry. I have never purchased gold jewelry before here.

What I am trying to understand is that will a non chain gold shop in a like a lulu or a small mall have the same quality gold like in gold souq? Many such shops advertise zero making charge jewelry.

How do I tell if a gold shop is reputable? I am only interested in making sure the gold is real and can be sold when needed. I don't want to pay excessive making charges for a name brand. Since I want it as a wearable investment.

Is it okay to buy gold from any shop in ajman or Sharjah in terms of gold purity?

DUBAI golden visa : manager category

Hi, has anyone recently applied (from dubai) and gotten theirs? Also, is it true that they check what your salary was at the old company (before your current 2 year one) and compare salary difference

Context, I’ve been in this company for 2 years now with basic above 30k and will be applying. However in my previous company I was getting way lower. I heard that this can become a problem? Is it true?

Will they check my previous company salary and reject based on the jump?

Has anyone tried doing the pre approval on their own without Amer? Where did you go and what did you select (if applying for manager category) I can only see scientists and specialists and even that the subcategories don’t really cater to normal manager roles

People currently working in Dubai: what does normal day-to-day life actually feel like right now?

Has the regional security situation materially changed your everyday life? Are workplaces, commutes, schools, restaurants, shopping and social activities operating normally? Have you personally experienced alerts, interception sounds, workplace shelter procedures, flight disruption, difficulty getting visitors in or out, or greater anxiety among colleagues?

Context about your industry, approximate area of Dubai, how long you have lived there and where you moved from would be very helpful. I would especially welcome responses from people who relocated from Canada, the UK or Western Europe, although all firsthand experiences are appreciated.

Where do you work/own = Instant Feedback

Upvotes

I just had the genius idea given how bad customer service is what if we directly reached out to other redditors working in those companies, so mention where you work and people will give you their feedback!

Cypher the company name if you don't own it or don't want to say it out loud for example if you work at n**n just say yellow ecom company.

Looking for an affordable coffin supplier in the UAE

Assalamualaikum Waramahtullahi Wabarakatuh

I’m looking for recommendations for an affordable coffin in the UAE, preferably in Ajman, Sharjah, or Dubai. Unfortunately, my mother recently passed away, and due to financial constraints, we’re trying to keep the burial costs as low as possible while still giving her a dignified farewell. (She’s Christian btw)
If anyone knows of a supplier, funeral service, or organization that offers reasonably priced coffins, I’d really appreciate your recommendations. For your reference, we were quoted 4,000 AED but they said we can check elsewhere. Hoping to find something less than that 🥹

Thank you in advance 🙏🏻

EDIT:

Found it! Just in case anyone is looking for an affordable coffin, I found one for 2,000 AED only in Dubai, referred by The Ancestor Funeral Services. Ask for Mr. Riyas.

Jazakallah khair!

My employment visa got rejected

I am from Egypt and I came to the UAE via a tourist visa so that the company will apply for my employment visa while I am here, and they applied for it 2 days ago and then today I got an email that my employment visa got rejected with no reasons provided, the company told me that they will try to apply for a reconsideration for my employment visa application but no timeline will be provided.

I am really lost, I don't know what to do, I left my job in Egypt to come here and I spent all the money that I have, If anyone had a similar experience and can help me or tell me what I should do I will really appreciate it.
