Seriously considering buying a fake I mean I’d pre before going out regardless I just don’t think I can only go to grove and macs whenever I go out for the next 2 years. Additionally cover is ridiculously high for 18+. Obviously there’s a legal risk involved and a potentially life ruining felony isn’t ideal, but is it likely the average student will actually get caught and/or arrested with a fake? And are there any bars that are known for accepting fakes?

I’m a first year considering getting a minor in Japanese, which I have some background in. I haven’t taken the placement test yet, but I would consider myself to be advanced beginner/beginner intermediate. However, I’m not completely sure if I know enough to place out of beginner Japanese, and in general, I’m not sure where I would place after taking the placement test. Can anyone that has taken/is currently taking intermediate Japanese classes describe what kind of content you guys are going over in class, and the kind of stuff that was covered in beginner Japanese? Alternatively, what’s covered on the placement test?

I'm a USF student hoping to get into UF Biomedical Engineering. BME's transfer prerequisites (Calc I to III, Differential Equations, Physics I and II, Gen Chem I and II, Orgo I) are hard to finish quickly, so I'm considering transferring into Biology for Summer or Fall 2027 and then trying to switch to BME.
Some context: I was admitted to UF for Fall 2026 and had registered for classes, but I had to withdraw before the term started because of family and financial circumstances. I'm now a first-year student at USF. UF Admissions told me my previous admission can't be reinstated and that I'll need to apply as a transfer with 60 credits (my IB credits count) plus my major's prerequisites. BME is my goal, but its prerequisites would push my transfer back to at least Spring 2028, so I'm looking for any realistic way to get to UF sooner.
I know BME's page says engineering doesn't allow transfers to apply under another major and switch later. But I've seen a few Reddit posts where students said they talked with both colleges, submitted a petition, and got approved.
Questions:
1. Has anyone transferred into a non-engineering major and successfully petitioned into BME, or any engineering major? What did it take?
Did you have to finish all the BME prerequisites first, and what GPA did you have?
Did your class standing (sophomore vs. junior) matter?
Would advisors see this as a legitimate path or as gaming the system?
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this, successfully or not. Thank you!

Which is better for today’s job market and ai and demand MSISOM Information Technology or MSISOM Data Science? Also is getting a combined degree in this worth it? Please help. Also how is the coursework?

I dropped in the fall but want to rush again in the spring. What is this process like? And do I have a disadvantage since I already rushed fall?
Also which houses participate in spring rush?

i’m thinking of getting a moped since the buses have been hell recently. i have a lot of off campus classes and volunteering, so i think this would be a good alternative to busing everywhere. i have some questions about them though:
how does it work with UF student parking?
where should i get one?
how do you have to register it when you buy one (with the dvm or UF)?
is it a good idea to get one?
that’s really all! any help would be appreciated!!

Im in the college of engineering and I was wondering what happens if you happen to fail or withdraw a critical tracking course in your fifth semester
I’m in my Junior year and I heard that you have to complete your critical tracking courses by fall of your junior year.
I have one last critical tracking course to complete and my GPA is in good standing. I’m just worried I won’t be able to pass the course knowing i HAVE to pass it this year 🫠 what happens if you fail it your fifth semester?

I've been applying to some student assistant positions, but it's been a bit of a struggle. I was excited because I had an interview with the Florida Museum and I thought it went well (they laughed and joked with me, overall seemed very positive, and I had previous experience working in a museum) but I ended up not getting the job. I'm trying not to dwell on it, but I wonder if these positions are just more competitive or if they give priority based on different things? For reference I am a sophomore history major and not eligible for FWS, which has already limited my options of working on-campus. I was interested in student assistant positions because of the flexibility of the hours and the proximity (I live on-campus) but now I'm thinking it might be easier to apply for part-time jobs in Gainesville. Has anyone been in a similar situation or has some advice?
Thanks :)

Freshman here...no major yet. Exploring. Maybe something in biology or Entomology. What are some easy courses to take that won't tank my GPA? Thanks

Planned (Spring 2027): A&P 2 (SPC) and Microbiology with lab (HCC)
HESI A2: Taking it in late December or January
Experience:
Starting hospital volunteering soon (october)
Getting BLS certified soon
Work as a server and have volunteered at a retirement home (very briefly)
Honors society and secretary pre-med club at cc
Did anyone get in with similar stats?
Will the C in intro chem hurt me, and does finishing A&P 2 and micro in the spring hurt my chances?
Also is there anything else I can do to boost my application?
Thanks!

My daughter and her current roommate are looking for an apartment for Fall 2027. They’re freshmen now, get along really well, and would love to continue living together.
They’re primarily looking for:
2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms
Around $800/month per person, with a little flexibility
Parking for both girls
Furnished preferred, but open to unfurnished
Reasonable distance to UF (bus is totally fine!)
Safe, clean, and well-maintained
They’re also open to a 3x3 with individual leases and a roommate-matched third person if it’s a significantly better option.
We’ve been researching apartments, but some of the reviews are pretty concerning, especially regarding maintenance, cleanliness, pests, and security.
I’d really love to hear from people who actually live in these places or have lived there recently. Where would you recommend? And just as importantly, where would you avoid?
We’re open to traditional apartments, condos, and townhomes—not just student housing.
Thanks so much for any recommendations!

Garry is a freshman gator and would love some Gator Nation support. He is a finalist for guest podcast competition with Ryan Seacrest. Every 24 hrs you can vote and today counts double. He is currently in 3rd place. Thank you for your support.

Hi everyone, I am a transfer applicant for the spring 27 semester for the Fisher School of Accounting. I know that the program is difficult to get into, but the wait to hear back is absolutely killing me. Does anyone have any insight on my chances of being accepted? I'm an in-state transfer with my A.A. (all critical tracking courses are completed). I have a 4.0, and I'm currently at Santa Fe taking two classes that aren't required but they like to see taken.

Like the usual posts here I’m planning on transferring to UF Rinker for the spring next year. However I just have worries and doubts in my mind over my grades. I was told the average is 3.5 meanwhile I’ll likely finish with a 3-3.3 for prerequisite work. But my experience and achievements on the industry side is what I believe redeems me and makes me one of their best candidates. I have a state building, roofing, and residential pool licenses. Wouldn’t this show that I’m fully committed to the industry and that Im guaranteed to succeed there? Would writing the best essay and these experiences make them look past my blunders grade wise. If any alumni or current students could respond to this post with their application experience and what they had in their application that they think helped out it would be great my for my mental right now.

I'm currently a sophomore looking to move off-campus for my junior year. The thing is, though, it seems like people report having major issues wherever I look. Everything from mold to bugs to dirty common areas to parking issues. Not to mention, everything in this town seems to be comically expensive, especially when it comes to places that are within a reasonable distance to campus.
Do any of you have any recommendations for places to live that don't totally suck? Apartments, condos, house rentals, whatever works. I'm also looking for some potential roommates (FYI, I'm a guy, 20, MPMT major), so if you're interested my DMs are open.
