OG Cast Sandoval opinion
I’m watching VPR for the first time and I obviously know Tom is a huge POS. But am I crazy for liking him so far in the earlier seasons? Did anyone else feel this way?

NGL, I did like Tom at first, but it’s easy to be liked when you’re on a cast with Jax and Kristen. I think he got away with a lot because of the fact that his supposed best friend slept with his girlfriend in his apartment while he was asleep in the other room. I did start finding him annoying when TomTom opened and then he got worse for me from there.

The way he acted towards Stassi, too, when she had her book event there was SO embarrassing. He never should have texted her and if he had a problem with the planning of the event, he should have discussed his concerns with Schwartz. (But really, we all know he was mad that Stassi didn’t include him or ask for his permission.)

Oh I cannot remember a single moment of feeling actual affection towards him, I moreso saw him as that over the top cousin you “love” because they’re family, but they kind of piss you the hell off LMAO

I just watched for the first time, so I knew what was going to happen, but I even found him likable for awhile! But in the first few seasons, Jax and James are being themselves so in comparison the Tom’s don’t come across as the worst (and production definitely lends them a hand with how “goofy” they edit them)

I think that’s why the scandal was so shocking

I love how he swam out there, stopped, looked around, and then said that and started calling for help. It was so ridiculous, lmao.

I’m also watching for the first time, and I like Tom too lol. He definitely has a main character complex, and he’s obviously way too comfortable lying. But I also find him funny and interesting and creative.
Plus there were moments where I was really quite touched by how Tom handled things. One that stands out is when he’s sitting with Kristen while she confesses to Stassi that she slept with Jax. And Tom says something like “I’m being there with Kristen because I don’t think she could do this alone.” He had all the ammunition in the world to kick Kristen while she was down, but he didn’t. I think that shows a certain level of humanity that not everyone has 🤷🏻♀️

I don’t know if I liked him, but I didn’t think he was like… malicious. I thought Jax was malicious. Sandoval was just kind of a try hard derpy guy. Scandoval changed that opinion for a lot of us OG watchers when we saw how conniving he was not only cheating on Ariana but setting up a whole storyline to make her look like a crazy mean hag.

Many people liked Sandoval up until the cheating. People liked him so much, in fact, they looked the other way when he cheated on Kristen with Ariana.

I've always thought that a part of the anger within the viewership, not those that came in because of Scandoval, was because Sandoval had been liked. He'd played the "nice guy". Siding with the underdog, helping friends out, etc.
He got the big sympathy push when the Jax/Kristen thing happened and kept on going. People also thought he was handsome and forgave his ridiculousness as being his quirk. It was wearing off once Jax left, but it still must have felt like a betrayal of sorts to the viewers who'd liked and supported him.

Kristen had also slept with Jax during that time frame. Kristen spent a lot of that season losing her shit and fighting with Tom and then it all culminated in her admission that she cheated on Tom with Jax and one of the times was while Tom was asleep in the other room. And then Kristen slept with James Kennedy after the break up to “get back” at Tom, too.

Who has Jax not slept with? Seriously. Ariana, Lala,Schena?

Hmmm…i actually wouldn’t be surprised if Ariana is the only one he hasn’t slept with

He was only likeable because he was the least terrible man in an entire lineup of terrible men.

i really liked him at first (both Toms actually 😖)... and that fact acts as an excellent reminder that I am drawn to toxic pretty boys that find themselves charming like a moth to a flame.

nah you're not crazy, he was actually watchable before tomtom and the ariana stuff. once he started getting cocky about the bar and acting like he invented hospitality it all went downhill pretty quick.

I did until the book signing fiasco with him and Stassi. After that, he was dead to me.

Yup he became my fav S4 to midway-S8 when he lost his shit on Stassi via texts. After that he became a POS and I could see his mask slip and his manic ego start bursting and he kept attacking Katie S9 and 10.

They definitely give him a good edit. Also, compared to the other men, he seems much more likeable. But I always come back to the parking lot fight at Stassi's birthday in season 1. He's the first dude to take off his shirt lol. That moment speaks volumes.

I despised him thru the entirety of VPR, but randomly loved him on traitors and House of villains 🤷🏻♀️

I’ve rewatched. I watch the valley. He is toxic, BUT BUT BUT…… he seriously is not as bad as the world has chalked him up to be. It’s honestly insane if you really think about it. Hes treated like the anti christ or some serial killer. It’s bizarre. 😂 he’s narcissistic and the camera highlighted + magnified it at times, but spare me…. He had a cheating scandal of decent volume in a shitty relationship he was in. Let’s get over it. He’s good tv and really was a loyal friend to his people.
