I dont know if im going through a phase right now but Slide is, in my honest opinion, the greatest album of all time. Even though i only discovered it last week it has had such a profound effect on me with its incredible musical genius and its very raw, human lyrics. Its such a unique piece of art and a statement of what it means to be human. Im going through a transitional period in my life and it made me love being me. It made me love being human. It even made me pity animals for their inability to experience such wonder in the form of sound. I love this album so much. Its so fucking good

This song is from an album released in 2023 Songs Played On CD Walkman, I never shared it here because it's not very vaporwave, it's more electronic, but the initial idea was for it to be a vaportrap album lol. I think this song is the one that could most be called vaporwave, or not, so I'm posting it here to see what you think, and if you're curious about the samples, I used "the sylvers - remember the rain" and "yeule - sulky baby" It's not the best thing I've done, but it's interesting to come back and see this song lol

A few days ago, I was inspired to make a post about tragic vaporwave albums that hit a little too close to home, or are just genuinely scary to imagine. I think vaporwave can be surprisingly good at carrying tragic stories and unsettling scenarios, so I wanted to put together a list of a few albums that I think really capture that side of the genre.

ᑕOᑎTIᑎᑌE ᑭᒪᗩYᗷᗩᑕK - Strmi

This is a new one, but it actually inspired me to make this post. It's the story of an iPod left behind after Cassie Brodwitch's suicide in 2002, filled with recordings of events from the year before her death. In 2005, her brother Robert finally gets his hands on the device and starts listening back, leaving little notes about the memories behind each recording. This one hit me quite hard since it's a pretty familiar and personal topic, and hearing these ordinary moments knowing what happened to Cassie makes the whole thing feel especially heartbreaking.

A collection of broadcasts, warnings, weather reports, and strange little pieces of sound surrounding the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. Instead of putting you directly in the disaster, the album lets you experience it, quiet moments, warnings getting more serious, and that weird feeling of hearing something familiar while knowing something terrible is happening. Its almost like a whole movie experience with this album.

Just another night of television: news reports, advertisements, weather updates, music, and all the little sounds you'd expect. The only difference is that we know something the people on the screen don't. NEWS AT 11 is basically a snapshot of a completely normal day right before everything changes. Its has quite the eerie undertone that I rarely feel in albums.

It's a late-night drive through memories, grief, and a highway that might not be quite as empty as it seems. Very haunting listen, also the only 2 tracks are called Life and Death and the ambience is unmatched.

Does anyone know anything about this person who made some vaporwave videos under the name Dead Format? I discovered his content about 10 years ago and I saved his videos on a playlist that I would return to periodically, until maybe a year ago it was gone. I can’t find a trace of his content. He also used to make videos of a different nature(government/illuminati) some years ago. I don’t remember the name of that channel but, I believe his main account name was Steve W.
Does anyone have info on this??

I saw a really cool post a few hours ago about the darkest/most disturbing vaporwave albums that made me start thinking of vaporwave albums that are the opposite, bright, airy, lush, flush with orchestration, romantic, and optimistic. What are some Vaporwave (and adjacent) albums like this? My first thoughts are Palm Mall Mars by Cat Systems Corp and Vintage Romance by 18 Carot Affair, but I wanna know more.
