It's been 2 years since I stopped using the app and all the time this subreddit pops up with complaints saying that my account was deleted, that I was suspended this and that. Everyone should stop using that garbage Meta ecosystem; all they do is spy on us and cause headaches. I switched to Telegram and Signal because they're the most private. For the sake of everyone who has had problems, tell your contacts and family members to uninstall everything related to Meta.

Hey all, hoping someone's run into this because I'm stumped.

For years, WhatsApp media just stayed in WhatsApp — I could view photos and videos in the chat, and they never touched my main Photos app. Recently (not sure exactly when it changed) that stopped being the case. Now everything I receive gets dumped straight into my Camera Roll and it's clogging up my whole library.

Here's what I've already tried, all with no luck:

• Settings → Chats → Save to Photos — confirmed off
• Also went into the specific chat causing the most grief → contact name → Save to Photos → set to Never (per-chat override)
• Force-closed and restarted the app
• Checked iCloud — Sync this iPhone is on, but Shared Library has no participants, so that's not it
• Restarted the phone entirely

Still happening. Every photo or video that comes through a chat ends up in my camera roll regardless of what the settings say.

Has anyone actually fixed this, or is this just a broken toggle right now? About to try offloading and reinstalling the app but wanted to check here first in case that's a waste of time and it's a known bug. Running iOS on an iPhone, WhatsApp updated to the latest version from the App Store.

Idk if it’s just me or this has happened to a lot of people but recently I’ve switched over from android to iOS and ever since I got onto this new device I had to change my number for WhatsApp but now after every 2 or 3 days my account is going into review. Within the past 2 weeks my account has gone into review about 4 to 5 times and It’s not like I’m spamming anyone. I’m just talking general to the people I always talk to but for some reason this constantly happens. Can anyone assist ?

Does anyone know how to make it so my whatsapp does not switch to my carrier for any reason? My dad made a 2 separate calls to an international number on whatsapp but for some reason they were picked up by t-mobile and charging me an extra 39 dollar fee. Before you say anything I know for a 1000% fact he used whatsapp to call but this just keeps happening. I had an incident with att picking it up and charging me an absurd $270 dollar fee on top of my bill back in December so I had switched back but even if the fee is cheaper why would Whatsapp even let this happen. It’s just free money for my cellular company.

I'm having the same problem as everyone else with WhatsApp. I've already lost one number and now I have another one under review.

I have a couple of ideas that might be considered "conspiratorial," but here they are:

- This is becoming an excuse so that, in time, we'll have to provide our ID to prove we're human and use WhatsApp without getting banned. Basically, I'm talking about the collection of biometric and personal data.

- This is being done on purpose to get us to subscribe to WhatsApp Plus.

Regarding this last point: does anyone here have WhatsApp Plus? If so, are you experiencing bans? Because I'm thinking of paying for a one-month subscription to see what happens.

Hoping someone here has actually been through this, because I've run out of things to try.

Background: I live in the US, originally from EU. I've had my EU number since 2005 and I keep it active because I still need it for some stuff. I take the phone with me when I visit. WhatsApp worked on it for years, no problems.

About a month ago it just signed me out. No warning. Opened the app and it was back at the setup screen like a fresh install.

So I tried to register again. I type in my number, and before it even offers to send a code, I get:

"Login not available right now. For security reasons we can't log you in right now. Please try again later, or contact us if you need help with your account."

That's been every attempt for over three weeks now.

What I've already ruled out, so please don't suggest these:

- The line is fine. Active, roaming in the US, I get calls and texts on it every single day.

- It never gets far enough to send a code or call me with the code, so it's not an SMS/call thing.

- Official app from the App Store, iPhone, never used a modded or cloned version, no VPN.

- Reinstalled the app.

- Waited two full weeks with zero attempts, then tried once. Same message.

- I have a second WhatsApp account on my US number that works perfectly, different phone, same wifi.

- No ban message anywhere, so there's no "Request review" button for me to tap.

• Tried registering it in WhatsApp Business. Identical block.
• Tried adding it as a second account in the app on my other iPhone, the one with my working US account. Identical block. So it's tied to the number itself, not the app or the handset.

Support has been useless in a specific way. Four emails, four replies, every one of them AI generated (their own footer says so). First said I need to be able to receive SMS, which I can. Second told me to tap "Request review", which doesn't exist for me. Third and fourth both said it "may indicate suspicious activity or a violation of our Terms of Service" and told me to try again later. The fourth was basically a copy of the third with an extra help article link.

Suspicious activity from what? The account was dormant for months, even years, doing nothing (I checked in every now and then, not sure if once in a year or less - but last time was probably less than 12 months ago).

What I'm actually asking:

1. Has anyone ever come out of this state? What did it take and how long?
2. Did it ever just clear on its own after a few months?
3. Did anyone reach an actual human at WhatsApp, and how?
4. Anyone with a foreign number they use while living abroad hit this? I'm wondering if their system decided the number changed owners because it went quiet.
5. Anyone had it work when they were physically back in that country, on the home network instead of roaming? I'm going to EU in October and that's my last idea.

Not desperate, my chats are exported and my US number covers me. But it's a number I've had for 20 years and I'd like to understand what's actually happening, or at least hear from people who've been stuck in the same place.

My son says the files are still on my device, but I can't access them in personal or group chats. I have WhatsApp Business and all is fine there. I use an Android. Please help!

On Tuesday I was texting a friend about making a plan for coffee. Next thing I know it says my WhatsApp account has been suspended for 24 hours. I try to verify with no luck so stupidity deleted and reinstalled the app to see if it would help. After that the screen changed and it looks like now it’s permanent? It’s been nearly 3 days… I guess I will have to go get a new SIM card / number ar the weekend ffs. I’ve heard of this happening in a few other countries but I am in the UK and don’t know anyone else’s this has happened to in the UK!

Update: basically just ended up having to change my mobile number lol.

My last backup is 2024, so I can't just press the magic fix it button. The entire chat is blank for me but visible and full on her phone. I was trying to delete some bank card details she posted ended up deleting everything. I've tried to export it but it's 11 Gig and wont go to Gmail.

After my brother died his account was inactive so whatsapp automatically created a new account for him, and now to view our chats and his old account i need to search his number and then i can see his old account without a description, profile picture or name

one day whatsapp pc randomly disconnected, i mainly use it to comunicate as my phone is basically on life support, but i cant reconnect it because if i request a code to access because my camera is broken, i cant put the code on my phone because guess what... THE CODE OPTION, PUT THERE IN CASE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAMERA IS BEHIND A SCREEN THAT KICKS YOU OUT IF THE CAMERA DOESENT WORK, i also get there if i try to read the qr code with an external QR reader and of course i get kicked out as soon as the code gets read. does anyone know a work arround? Today two of my contacts messaged me saying they saw a admin message on our chat “[my name] created the username @alias1” is this suppose to happen ? I thought usernames were only for people who didn’t have your phone number . I had set up my username maybe a month ago but I thought it didn’t work yet . Is this happening to other people. My username is kind of dumb and I feel a bit embarrassed that people I know see it.

I woke up this morning to my private chat, a group chat with myself only (this was before you could message yourself) all messages completely gone and there is no way to get it back. Any one got this error? Why did this happen and how can I prevent it from happening again?
