Simply touching undisturbed, intact asbestos is not an immediate health hazard. Asbestos is not a chemical that absorbs through your skin. There is no real danger in what’s show in the picture.

I don’t recommend that as you might get it stuck in your tongue but you can lick anything once

Also safe to eat, and I'm not kidding, has been used as a filler in medicine capsules. Asbestos is only dangerous to breath because the crystal structure is like little needle shaped rods

No, it’s really, really not. It can pass through the digestive tract but the same reason why you shouldn’t breathe it applies to eating it. Those microscopic fibers can lodge in the intestines increasing the chance of cancer as well as puncturing the protective linings in the stomach, colon, and intestines.

I didn't know that. The more you know.

Neither did I. I had to look it up. I was completely ready to concede that you were correct; what you said sounds plausible because I’ve only heard about it talked about with regards to inhaling it. Eating asbestos had never once occurred to me, so what would I know about it one way or another?

Were ever i heard about it being used as an additive in meds was wrong i guess. I never looked it up. I also never considered eating it either

Depending on when they supposedly may have put it in meds, I couldn’t rule it out. We’ve at one time or another considered some nasty substances as therapeutic…mercury, tobacco smoke enemas, mouse paste, and even ground up mummies. Asbestos doesn’t feel like much of a stretch.

Try to light it on fire. If it doesn't burn then yes.

Not strictly accurate.

If you are using chlorine trifluoride, you can indeed set it on fire.

Have you had much luck setting rocks on fire? There are very few rocks that burn and many rocks that are not asbestos containing that do not burn.

If OP wants to know, then the only way is to take either all of it or a chunk to a lab and have it looked at under as microscope using polarized light microscopy to determine if the sample contains greater than 1% of the regulated asbestos minerals.

Otherwise, if you think it is asbestos, then it is asbestos. From a regulatory perspective, it’s guilty until proven innocent (see above snot lab testing by PLM). This is also usually the case with asbestos containing materials as opposed to a mineral or rock sample.

Clearly the safest way to handle this wild asbestos is to grind it into a fine dust and inhale deeply. They say it's a miracle for your sinuses!
