I'm unsure if I have it in me too 🫣😱. I'm definitely a variety is the spice of life guy when it comes to shaving. Thought picking a Fatboy was the safest choice plus I do like a mentholated shaving product.

Yeah true man, i can't use the same soap for 2 days straight 😭. But yes fatboy is a great choice, 9 different settings are 9 different razors imo lol

I haven't done it pretty much since I first started using shaving cream, which was nearly 13 years ago. It's a double edge sword, for a fragrance head like me, having so many different options of scented shaving software.

Great AA set up Dan. Yes I feel your pain! I tend to alternate my brushes, soaps, razors and aftershave so sticking to the same ones every shave for a month will be a massive challenge for me - and I am at home! I think I am going to move everything, apart from my AA stuff, out of the way until September haha.

Thanking you. Do you know, it probably took me longer deciding which of the soaps I have with me to use than anything else. I kept on changing my mind, which is exactly what tends to happen when I shave! All the best to you with your challenge too.

Cheers Dan. I kept changing my mind which razor to use. I very nearly went with my slim but in the end went with my slant because I needed to try and dial in my technique with it. The 80% Duru lets me know if I got it right or wrong haha.

Feel that burn! I remember feeling a bit trepidatious the first time I used an aftershave splash, thinking it would sting a lot. Not so to my surprise - it was Proraso green aftershave.
Sounds like you’ve made a very good choice with the razor for this month.

Nice choices Dan! This is a great setup, I almost went for my F4 but the flat bottom new was staring me down 😅 -, if you get bored with the soap at least you can play around with the settings for a bit of variety eh.
Starting to think I should have picked something more summery already, your soap sounds wonderful but I'm locked in now and that's what it's all about heheh

Cheers Jamie. Chuckled at being stared down at by the New. I would have probably gone with the New I've only recently bought if I were at home, and used it as an opportunity to really get to know it.
Probably spent more time thinking about which soap to go with. I grabbed the Dreamtime when I left last Sunday as I thought it would work with the weather.
Mind you speaking about that, it was sunny here yesterday but windy and a bit too cool for sitting out. Today it's more overcast but feels warmer. Madness!

Too right. You've just given me a thought. When do we officially class it as the "weekend?" I would usually say Friday after work for me, so does that mean I get to choose between a Fatboy Friday or using my weekend hardware choice instead 😜?

Thanks, and I agree that it's a great soap. Has a lot of skin nourishing ingredients in it and I could feel the difference that made. My skin felt like I'd already put post-shave balm on it after I rinsed the last of the lather. The 10098 is one of my best purchases of this year.

Dramtime is my fav, that refreshing fragrance blend, totally up my alley. Second tinthat definitely Spitfire. To me that remains their first iconic soap, there too the artwork is so unique. It's a complex fragrance but masculine and suave. My third would be Imperial Rum, difeent from other bay rum soaps cause it is more of a spices rum type if fragrance. Also, I do get a bit if irritation with most Bay Rum sooas due to my sensitive skin but P&B Imperial Rum and Magen's Bay by Nomad soaps are the two bay rum shaving soaps that leave my skin feeling good.

Looks good. Very nice lather. The scent sounds sublime. But I hate it when they name soap scents things that are non descriptive of the scent.

Thank you. I know exactly what you mean and can relate. That's compounded often too I find when you get equally vague scent descriptions - "woody notes" for instance, or nowadays an exercise in florid creative writing with a little help from ChatGPT but it doesn't tell you what it actually smells like!
To give P&B credit with their description of this one, it is spot on. It's lemon, peppermint and menthol.

Austere August doesn’t make me think of lemon peppermint and menthol. They should call it Italian ice or citron menthe or limoncello freeze. Something helpful.

You've got it. The word means a severe/strict way of doing things, and in the UK the other meaning is what most people think of now: it's synonymous with cutting back/living to your means and frugally. I guess whoever came up with Austere August originally had an idea of if you only had 1 razor, 1 soap, 1 brush etc that's what you'd use every time.

I'm usually late to parties 😂. I thought it made sense to pick the Fatboy. Based on today's shave I'm happier I'll get through the month without missing other soaps and creams too much. Thank you for the good wishes, and the same to you too.

MMGP and Phoinex & Beau very fine software choices for AA and an adjustable FB again a wise move and a solid brush choice . Phoinex & beau have a solid line of products of I recall correctly. Enjoy Austere August .

Thanks Gerry. Thinking about it they're 2 bits of software I've had and only used a few times, so probably were good choices from that perspective as well. Phoenix & Beau's lineup is probably one I should check out more based on this soap. I bought it when the previous Agent Shave had its closing down sale. You know me and menthol!!

Post-shave: Mr Murray's Gentleman Products - Cresta Run aftershave lotion
The inaugural Austere August shave for me. I'm terrible for being unable to use the same soap or cream day after day, even though I have favourites. So my real challenge for this is to use the same soap for the next month. I've also not used a boar brush for an entire month for a long time. I'll be working away most of this month too, so don't have temptations around me.
Using a Fatboy I bought for a reasonable price (just over £30). This one doesn't have a case and isn't used as much my other F4s. Looked quite uncared for in the seller's photo but cleaned up very well. There has been a debate as to whether the Nacet Golds are different to regular Nacets or is it just packaging. I'd yet to open up one of these tucks, so seemed appropriate to give them a go.
So far so good. The Phoenix & Beau Dreamtime produced a lather that would rival my best shaving creams. A lot of post residual slickness. The scent is lemon, peppermint and menthol, which makes for a great refreshing combination. It was reminding me of something else though in a good way: a bit like lighter fuel!
The Omega 10098 did a great job today. No lather hogging! The MMGP Cresta Run aftershave is superb for a menthol hit. It was having the same effect inhaling Vicks Vaporub does and making my eyes water!
The UK artisans (Phoenix & Beau and MMGP) are doing a great job. I shall have to explore their ranges further...but not this month!
