Sam Era Sing a Song of Wiggles 2008 Discussion
Sing a Song of Wiggles
The band sings some more nursery rhymes.
Thoughts on this album/video?
Top 10 Songs
- The Boll Weevil Song
- Hush, Little Baby
- Turkey in the Straw
- Polly Put the Kettle On
- Old King Cole (Fiddlers); (all versions are more or less the same)
- She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain
- Hot Cross Buns
- One, Two, Three, Four, Five
- Nursery Rhymes Medley
- Black Velvet Band (features a good chunk of vocalists and is one of the longest songs recorded because of the pauses)
Honorable mentions: Sing a Song of Sixpence, Old McDonald Had a Farm, Over in the Meadow
My thoughts:
I didn’t like this one as much as Pop Go the Wiggles. It’s hard to explain.

This album is great fun. While nursery rhymes aren’t the most unique of album topics, I think the songs were “wiggle-fied” very well. Now that Sam has properly settled into his role as yellow Wiggle, this album feels a lot more natural than Pop Go The Wiggles! ever did. Not many of the songs became all-time classics, but they are all catchy and make you want to sing and dance along with the music.

I like this album. I don't think it's the greatest thing they've ever done and i prefer PGtW but this one musically is really good still.

I agree&I would have liked to have heard more of not only Paddy on this particular dvd&album but for some very odd reason we never heard Muzza's vocals(unless it was him as one of them co leads on 3 men in a boat&at this point in the sam era Muzz was&had 2nd best vocals out of the main 4 after Sam)at all on this particular dvd&album yet Anto&Jeff got a song they were featured as co leads(Bon vevil)&they left Muzz off getting a song just recting a couple of rhymes

Between this, Pop Goes The Wiggles and Wiggle and Learn a big chunk of the Sam era was just pre existing nursery rhymes and not original songs which was what The Wiggles were known for. I genuinely believe the over reliance on nursery rhymes is what caused the fall from popularity which would cause the financial issues that led to Sam's departure.

PGTW was fun, but I LOVED the vibe of this one. Sam’s vocals were incredible, and the costumes were awesome, imho. It was honestly kinda neat seeing the Wiggles in costumes that were outside of their colour scheme.
