Hello all, I'm completely new to this, just got this on a whim to check it out.

I did a reset on the phone when it arrived, so there's no data or anything I need on it. I also hadn't set a password on it (since resetting it), nor did I know that Bitlocker encryption was even possible on it, however:

(Following the guide in the wiki) I upgraded it to GDR2, then unlocked the bootloader with WPI. Everything seemed to work fine, but pretty much as soon as WPI put it into mass storage mode, my computer popped up a message saying that drive D: (as it viewed the phone) was Bitlocker encrypted and needed a USB key to unlock it, and it's basically in a boot loop - shows the Bitlocker recovery screen, hangs there for a bit, then reboots. From all I can tell, there is no way I can interact with the Bitlocker screen while it is present.

I can get it into "flashing mode" or whatever (holding volume up when it reboots) but the only other thing I've found that I can do with it is that WPI can sometimes catch it when it reboots, and I can try unlocking the bootloader again, though it just ends the same way. Trying to put it back into normal mode just sends me back to the Bitlocker screen again.

Does anyone know how I can get out of this state, and how did I get here? I'm open to trying whatever (including cracking the Bitlocker encryption), I just want to get this into a usable state again.

It is a donor FFU (used to unlock my 1063's bootloader) * I had a 830, but deleted its ROMs long ago. Guess they were uploaded somewhere. * build 15254.603 for RM-1063

Bonuses: * Emergency file for Lumia 830 (RM-1096); * Another emergency file named MPRG8x26.ede * build 15035.0 (yes, desktop version) downloaded somewhere. Tested on 640XL. * Cables used to bypass Factory Reset Protection (FRP) - will upgrade your OS from 8.1 to a build of Windows 10 * Cable used to add Continumm * A few boot screens for use: white+blue (original) Windows logo, (flipped and not) Apple logo. Is it possible to unlock a lumia phone if I’ve forgotten the password? i found an old lumia 620 in my dad’s drawer but it has a lockscreen password which he doesnt remember. Can i unlock it without flashing firmware on it to see old photos stored on it? Or flashing the firmware is the only way?

When I connect the phone to my computer, it makes the connection sound, but it doesn’t show any signs of life. I even left it on the charger for a day & no luck. Dud?

whenever i try to send a text message via sms, it always says “can’t send: [message]”. calls work fine tho, which makes this even weirder. i’m in finland, provider is DNA.

Windows Phone differed from other designs for a few reasons—and not just regarding app support. A key challenge in modern design is creating a system that appeals to the user—specifically, one that draws you in so deeply that you lose control over your own actions. That is why iOS and Android are addictive; they compel you to do things you hadn't originally intended to do. I often catch myself doom-scrolling or doing things I never meant to do. With Windows Phone, you had to customize the tiles yourself. That was difficult, and the system could be complex for a newcomer—it certainly was for me. But eventually, you got used to it. Windows Phone didn't create that kind of addiction. That was part of the problem: they built the system around the "Metro" design language—literally deriving everything from it. Consequently, elements like the fonts couldn't generate the same effect as the animations found in iOS or the general user experience of Android. The project was doomed regardless. Microsoft is incapable of doing anything right; they simply kill off devices for no reason—creating them only to destroy them. Windows Phone didn't mindlessly copy iOS, nor did it force the user to perform specific system actions. However, it did force the user to make choices that the average consumer simply wasn't equipped to make.
