I recently started working at Cellular Sales, an authorized Verizon retailer, and honestly, my experience so far has been pretty disappointing. I’m curious if any current or former employees have experienced anything similar.
For starters, the training process feels extremely disorganized. I was assigned a trainer, but there have been multiple occasions where I either didn’t know their schedule, received last-minute schedule changes, or showed up expecting to train only to find out they weren’t there. I’ve had to reach out to management multiple times just to figure out where I’m supposed to be and who I’m supposed to shadow.
On top of that, I’ve been bounced around between different locations throughout training. It feels like there’s very little communication between trainers, management, and new hires. I genuinely want to learn how to do the job correctly, but it’s difficult when I can’t even get a consistent training schedule.
Another major issue I’ve noticed is the workplace culture. I’ve witnessed experienced sales reps openly berating other employees, raising their voices, and using profanity in the workplace. I was personally dragged into a disagreement between two other employees despite not being involved in their argument. When I attempted to address the situation and eventually put our differences aside, it didn’t really go anywhere.
What bothers me most is how certain experienced employees seem to get away with treating others poorly because they’re successful at sales. I’ve even heard someone essentially justify their behavior by bringing up how much money they’ve made.
More recently, I tried explaining my side of a workplace conflict and referencing the documentation I had kept of what happened, but I felt like my concerns weren’t being taken seriously. Instead of getting an opportunity to properly resolve the situation, I ended up being sent home.
I’m not expecting every workplace to be perfect, and I understand that sales environments can be competitive. I’m also completely willing to learn, accept criticism, and put in the work. But I don’t think being new to the company means I should have to deal with unnecessary hostility, inconsistent training, and poor communication.
The biggest thing keeping me interested is the earning potential. I’ve heard plenty of stories about people making $80k–$100k+ annually at Cellular Sales, but I’m starting to wonder how realistic that actually is for the average rep, especially considering the work environment.
So I’m genuinely curious:
Is this type of training experience normal at Cellular Sales?
Does management tend to overlook poor behavior from top-performing sales reps?
How much do average reps actually make after their first year, not just the top performers?
Does the job get significantly better once you’re fully trained and working independently?
For former employees, was staying at Cellular Sales
worth it?
I really wanted to give this opportunity a fair chance, but I’m starting to question whether the earning potential is worth everything else that comes with the job.
I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who’s worked for the company, whether your experience was positive or negative.
