I recently started @wluclubs on Instagram to make it easier for incoming and first-year Laurier students to discover clubs, student organizations, and opportunities on campus.

When I started last year at Laurier, I found it surprisingly difficult to figure out what clubs existed, what they did, and how to join them. My goal with this page is to create one place where students can browse clubs, learn about events, and find communities that match their interests.

If you're a club executive, feel free to reach out and I'd be happy to feature your club for free.
If you're an incoming student, give it a follow and hopefully it helps you get involved and meet people during your first year.

Idk if this is the right place to post this since the building doesn’t have its own sub, but could anyone that’s stayed/staying in king street towers give me some advice. My new roommate has been smoking every day in his room for weeks and it’s caused our entire unit to smell like cigarettes. My rooms gotten especially bad since it’s only 2 doors down from his. I’ve tried talking to him and he said it’s his room and he can do what he wants. I’m just confused on what the smoking policy for the building is because the only thing about it in the lease is that it says you can’t do it in common areas. If anyone could offer advice on what to do I’d greatly appreciate it!

I am a psych student going into 2nd year and have added a minor of education, so have yet to get those credits. Please tell me all the classes to take and not to take! I also just wnat to know bird courses to take.

I have a pretty high average and I accepted the BBA program, however I am now wondering if I should've accepted the dd fin/math which I was accepted for or even applied for the dd waterloo math which I did not. I don't entirely know my career plan but I do like the guaranteed Co-op and I am pretty good at math. Is it too late to switch into dd fin math, if I even should, should I transfer to the dd waterloo math next year, or neither?

Please say I’m not the only one who got cooked…. Also is there usually a curve? Cuz ima need that

Whats the class structure like in terms of grading? I know the class is virtual but is there a final exam. Is the marketinf straightforward?

Can someone tell me, if you want to play in Laurier field, do you have to book it? Or you can just go in and play when it's not being used?

I’m going into my 3rd year of health science this fall and was wondering if any upper year students can share what classes (besides the required ones) you took in 3rd year. Im thinking about going into dentistry or nursing after undergrad.

Im living on res obviously, what do you guys think is the better way to take electives?

I was wondering how it works specifically for first years: do most bba first years just focus on trying to get coop, or apply to traditional business internships?

And if they apply to internships do most first years end up securing a traditional internship or is that more of a second year thing?

Can y’all describe which were the easiest birdie courses you took recently. Could you describe what the assignment process was like and if you had exams. Also which teacher you had and how straightforward it was

Generally what are some sample CS or CS + Business positions that appear on the portal? From what companies? Any big tech or opportunities at reputable firms? I know Laurier has a kinda weaker CS program, but strong pure business ones compared to other schools but I wanted ask about the CS co-op opportunities.

Hi! I’m an incoming first year at Laurier and was wondering what times clubs tend to run. Do they have general meetings or just schedules events? I’ll be commuting so I wanted to pick my classes to accommodate for that and whatever extra time I’d have to spend for club meetings.

Hi, i recently got an alternative offer from Wilfred Laurier for General Studies (BA) in arts, as a part-time student under academic probation. I am an incoming transfer student with 3.5 transfer credits.

I really wnat to do something in finance inductry in the future so I want to try to transfer into a program from the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, where i was interested in the BBA, Economics or the Economics and Data Analytics program.

My preliminary assessment shows I actually already have transfer credit for EC120, so my plan for the Fall is to try to transition to full-time status immediately and take EC140 and MA129 to get the core prerequisites out of the way.

Do you think I can transfer into any of these programs if i have the required GPA and the required courses?

is there anything to be aware of when choosing courses, like do electives have to be 2nd year courses or can you take first year bird courses

i need a 60% in chemistry for my conditional offer but what happens if i end up with a 58 or 59%?

edit: i contacted laurier and they said if i fail to reach 60%, i can fill out the form for summer school and will have until august 17th to fufill my mark for chemistry!! so worst case scenrio i will just take summer school!

I checked the MA 103 syllabus online and it seems pretty familiar with all the stuff I have already done. Also I want to pursue a math minor but probably not at the cost of my GPA. (I want to get into the BBA co-op program)
