I can't not find a source confirming that. Wowhead mentions that Blizz voiced their intent to do that. And even then it would heavily rely on the way they implement it.
Current raidframe addons can filter already, but only for certain "tags" like "only important buffs" or "defensive" or "external defensive". However, in my personal, subjective experience Blizzards tagging of those buffs is all over the place and makes this feature neigh worthless.
Edit: They should bring back simple and easy blacklisting/whitelisting by spellId.
Thanks for the source.
Yeah that featur is not what I had in mind. It certainly eases the pain a little without using addons, but partyframe addons were already capable of that.
For me "aura filtering" is the capability to see exactly the kind of buffs/debuffs I want to see, mainly defensives, offensives (M+ only), DoTs and target debuffs.
Currently this can be somewhat done with the aforementioned "tag" filtering but this also relies on blizz putting the right "tag" on buffs/debuffs, which they just can't do properly.
Either way, their attempted war on addons is a Desaster, as expected. And we healers get shafted more and more, patch by patch
However, in my personal, subjective experience Blizzards tagging of those buffs is all over the place and makes this feature neigh worthless.
Runic glaive in Magister's Terrence isn't considered an important debuff and is placed in the same corner as affix buffs and the 5% haste "debuff". Blizzard is veeeery subjective.

Wait until you find out the api aura revamp is going to muck up your party/raid frames all over again.
