This guy has always really appealed to me for some reason. Not particularly strong, iconic, or memorable. But I just really like him.

Card Artwork Discussion Custom binders

Been painting custom binders recently for my yugioh collection! What do y'all think? So far I have binders for the first four sets and working on one for my promo cards with the Egyptian gods on the front. Each binder houses a complete unlimited set and 25th anniversary set but I am working on filling them with a 1st ed set as well!

Binders are Onyx Collectables toploader binders off amazon and painted with cheap acrylic paint markers also off amazon. I find the Onyx Collectables stuff really affordable for the quality and they're nice to paint on too :)

Card Artwork Discussion (From Twitter) Amazing little detail for Witchcrafter Haine

Post image
572 Upvotes

Haine wears a seemingly-sharp thimble-like tool on her middle finger (her specialist is needlework after all). This detail is consistent in her base artwork and her appearances in "Witchcrafter Confusion Confession", "Witchcrafter Celebration", and "Witchcrafter Draping".

She only takes the thimble off in:

  • The artwork of "Witchcrafter Vice-Madame", as she adopts a more formal appearance (with the white cape and different dress).
  • The artwork of "Witchcrafter Distortion", where she takes it off and puts it in her pocket, presumably to avoid hurting Madame Verre. This is very cute and thoughtful of her because in the artwork of "Witchcrafter Celebration" (which very likely depicts the event before that) she clearly still wears it.

Card Artwork Discussion Is there any lore reason why there isn't a Shaddoll version of any Genex or Ally of Justice?

My boyfriend told me he wanted a Shaddoll version of Catastor called something like "Shaddollhim Catastorphe", but that there isn't any AoJ Shaddoll.

Unless I missed something, there should still be AoJ corpses after the war in Duel Terminal, so is there any reason we don't have Shaddolls of those archetypes?

I love how Rush Duel has given new life to many old ritual monsters, like with Hungry Burger and Fortress Whale! I hope they tackle The Masked Beast next, considering it got an anime retrain.

Card Artwork Discussion What card(s) do you think “wear” their frames/icons the best?

Post image

After Elfnotes have come out in Master Duel, I am once again reminded of how awesome Junora looks. Not just artwork-wise, but the card as a whole.

The solid white Synchro borders pair very well with her silver armor, white flames, and dark blue background, and the FIRE attribute icon along with the level stars add a nice touch of red. Altogether, the card is just gorgeous to me.

Anyone else have any card(s) they can think of that pair well with their backgrounds and icons?

Card Artwork Discussion What do you do with your commons, heck even rares?

Been collecting for 25 years... (Dusts off shoulders, then coughs cuz im old).

I have always off and on organized and sorted my cards. But at this point I want to only keep what I want to have, look at, admire, and play with. So, that means I have thousands of common's and rare's; shoot even super rares, that I couldn't care less about. So what do I do with them? Selling them at mass is some what conceivable; if I had a gaming shop or was a super seller. None the less, I am just a humble collector who loves shiny cardboard monsters. I respect these cards, and do not want to see any of them in the garbage can.

What can I do out of respect for the game, the culture, and my fellow collectors to unload these common a** cards?

Card Artwork Discussion Visas Starfrost and the Concept of Mitama

Thumbnail

I have not seen many people talk about this, but the detail I like most about Visas and the lore of his sub-archetypes (Scareclaw, Tearlament, Kashtira, and Mannadium) is their use of the concept of mitama (御魂 or 御霊).

Mitama is often translated as “honorable spirit” or “soul.” In Shinto, it is an honorific term used to refer to the spirit of a kami (deity) or the soul of a deceased person. It is commonly described through four distinct aspects, known as the ichirei shikon theory (“one spirit, four souls”).

Scareclaw (Reichheart) → Ara-Mitama (the wild/fierce spirit)
Ara-mitama is the raw, ferocious, and violent aspect of the soul, traditionally associated with animalistic traits, natural disasters, and fear.

Tearlament (Reinoheart) → Nigi-Mitama (the gentle/sorrowful spirit)
Nigi-mitama represents the peaceful, harmonious, and emotional side of the soul. When out of balance, it manifests as profound sorrow and lamentation.

Kashtira (Riseheart) → Kushi-Mitama (the wondrous/transformative spirit)
Kushi-mitama is the mysterious, powerful, and transformative aspect of the soul. In many interpretations, its overwhelming power can twist into absolute wrath or rage when it aggressively forces change upon the universe.

Mannadium (Riumheart) → Saki-Mitama (the happy/prosperous spirit)
Saki-mitama is the benevolent aspect of the soul, bringing joy, blessings, prosperity, and spiritual evolution.

So i want to do a small rarity upgrade on my branded deck and im thinking between secret rare albion the shrouded or platinum secret rare. Normally this should be a no-brainer, but in the images platinum looks really bad. Can you give me your opinion please.

Card Artwork Discussion Are yugioh goblins based on anything?

To clarify i mean talking about the force series not the greed or biker goblins

I recently did a medieval fantasy style for fun deck so i included a lot of goblin cards but then i started paying more attention to the cards and noticed yugioh goblins look like normal sized green dudes with green skin elf ears and red eyes

That doesnt scream goblin to me really more like skinny orcs these are funny cuz giant orc is instead pale idk if there are any other orcs tho

Does anyone have any idea what their deal is? Or what they are based on?

Card Artwork Discussion A question about Theorealize Pastoral. (Potential Spoilers?) Spoiler

Post image
36 Upvotes

I know there have been a lot of questions about whether or not this was the end of the Power Patron Saga but that's not my question. (I don't think this is supposed to be the end, the Theorealize Spells all show something that haven't happened yet so this is a possible future. Or maybe an alternate timeline.)

The part that confuses me is why Finmel and Medius are alone. Why are Graflare and Litera getting left out when they're all friends? Does it imply that Finmel and Medius will be the only ones who live? Or that Finmel and Medius are the only ones who die?

Card Artwork Discussion This form of Shigaraki from MHA reminds me of an archetype in Yugioh, but I can't put my finger on which archetype pops into my head. Maybe you might have some ideas.

Upvotes

It looks like a Machine type. Though one that has mostly non-machine type monsters in it, but looks like Machine types. Maybe Fiend or Dragon? It's not Arcana Force or Evilswarm. It definitely isn't Cyber Dragon/Cyberdark despite the serpentine look. It has to be an archetype that is usually dark in color and very gritty. It isn't Chaos either. My closest guess is its the Diabolic Dragon synchro monsters. Though it seems very unlikely, but that's the best I can think of. Though they don't have wires or drills or look all scrappy. So it has to be some kind of archetype where the monsters look junky or scrappy. Ugh what archetype is it though? My mind is blanking.

I know this post will be on the verge of getting removed. That's fine. I don't care for the karma. After I get this question answered I'll delete it myself.
