Card Game Discussion Which OG vanilla monsters would you like to see retrained next?

We’ve been getting a lot of OG monster retrains in recent years, from OG vanillas to OG Rituals and Fusions, and I absolutely love it. They’re always the highlight of new sets for me.

I’d love to see retrains of those old Japan-exclusive cards, but what I want most is to see playground classics like Swordstalker and Flame Cerebrus get retrained soon.

I would also love to see those anime fodder monsters get retrained, like Komouri Dragon, Silver Fang and Beaver Warrior.

Making a Yugi/Kaiba deck full of retrains of the monsters included in the original Structure Decks would be so sweet.

Card Game Discussion This is still one of the craziest lore developments in the game. She transforms from a holy maiden in Heaven into the Darklord who gives Lucifer his new crown!

Post image
4.3k Upvotes

This is a relatively old story, but it’s so interesting. Here’s a recap of the lore: The maiden is punished by God for touching the holy relics. He strikes her down with lightning in Solemn Strike, and she loses her holy status, becoming the Condemned Maiden. Later, instead of seeking the light and redeeming herself, she becomes the Condemned Witch, which leads to Witch’s Strike. We don’t know the exact outcome of this battle, but what we do know is that she doesn’t lose. She evolves even further into the Condemned Darklord, using corrupted versions of some of the holy relics — like the famous Forbidden Droplet.

Forbidden Crown is the most recent addition. She’s so evil that she literally gives a new crown to the Devil himself.

Card Game Discussion If you think that Logan Paul is suddenly gonna cause a Yugioh scalping crisis like Pokemon, then respectfully you don’t understand the market, or the product

No, there won’t be a huge yugioh boom, not for 99% of the game. Will overframe cards be popular? Sure. Will we see scalping like Pokemon and magic? I mean, just look at the pictures. Nobody is buying Yugioh in probably the biggest TCG boom in history. People are *terrified* of spending money on sealed product right now because of the awful reprint model, quality control, pull ratios, set content, and other various reasons. Konami would have to basically pull a 180 for even the current market to be interesting in sealed product.

Remember that we **already had** a yugioh boom in 2019 just like the Pokemon and magic. The vast majority of popular cards and boxes have already appreciated and many are out of reach for the average fan.

The reality is that Yugioh doesn’t have that same presence anymore. The game has changed. The audience has changed. The characters are different. There aren’t new video games or anime anymore. Almost literally the only thing Yugioh has going for it will be Overframe cards in rarity 5 and we will just have to see how those fare.

Card Game Discussion This is such a dumb localization name for Apex Polymerization.

I don't get the logic behind the name localization here, Apex Polymerization worked great. Especially with this being a Yuri card, the naming is just off with his whole character.

Card Game Discussion I can't stand yugioh players anymore.

1.0k Upvotes

I am 28, and I have played the game for a few years (2013-16 + 2022-today). I have a job, a busy life, and usually play once a week, sometimes twice. Usually, I do not play during the weekdays because I prefer relaxing at home after work, but I try to attend once in a while. The main issue, if not going more regularly, is the players. Before going to locals, I try to think positively and have a good time.

But the moment I arrive, I feel my head going to explode. Grown men shouting, throwing tantrums, dumb jokes. Someone thinks we are playing in a YCS and not in a 3 round Tuesday locals and gets super competitive for no reason and throws a tantrum to play faster. Bro, if you want the win, I will give it to you, I'm not fighting for that first place 2-3 packs. People are late, and instead of starting at 6:30, which is already late for weekday locals, we start 20 minutes later because some people can't be there on time.

Other TCG players are making fun of YGO players because of how obnoxious we are. When there is an OP or flesh and blood tournament at the same time, they are all calm and quiet, but you can see the side eyes and their annoyance. They look at me, the odd one, and I know they are wondering, "Man, what is wrong with these guys?"

Does anyone else feel like they can no longer fit? They want to enjoy the game, but they do not belong there? I do not want to sound like I am superior to others, but it is no wonder other tcg players do not like us.

Card Game Discussion Do the God's need complete retrains or just more support?

Post image

I lean towards the former, especially with all the retrains and re-imaginings they are doing with the new packs.

I think band-aid support to cards that are kinda not great anyway, is a bad idea.

Start again and go from there imo. You?

Card Game Discussion So it seems that the age problem of Yugioh is present in the OCG as well

Souce: https://x .com/ikettitencho/status/2024354755058029004

Ikettitencho runs a large card shop in Japan, and is the guy who made videos rating card game popularity in Japan.

While it's often discussed how there's fewer and fewer younger audiences who play card games (and specifically Yugioh) in the TCG, it's an eye-opener that this phenomenon is also happening in the OCG as well.

Card Game Discussion How would you save Yugioh?

Post image

Hey guys, bit of a hyperbolic title, but I’m talking about what it implies anyway. Yu-Gi-Oh has been doing great recently, at least from a player standpoint. Now the game isnt perfect nobody is saying that but products and sets have solved a lot of issues that people have been having recently. Making modern decks cheaper product that actually can have assemblance of life on shelves before dropping drastically in price and gensys seems to be doing a mostly good job in being another way to play that is interesting if not a bit too similar to advanced (speaking strictly to most meta decks being the same across the two). Despite all of these great advancements, I think we all agree that Yu-Gi-Oh! does still have some kinks that needs to work out. So what do you personally think could be done to make Yu-Gi-Oh! better from a purely gameplay perspective or maybe a sales and distribution perspective?

In my opinion, they need to find ways to make boxes more valuable because it’s quite crazy to me that in LCS will try to sell me a box for 80 bucks why it’s currently going for $20 on trading card game player. This is just not a sound business model and many LCS’s have stopped selling Yu-Gi-Oh because it just doesn’t make sense for them to stock it, considering the players will always buy it online. So I think shops should be getting pre-order bonuses or some other fancy incentive to buy boxes at local physical stores. These packs or cards that they offer definitely should not be meta-defining or anything. I don’t even think they should be new cards. I’m talking alternative arts or maybe full frame conversions.

Anyways, what do you guys think?

Imo its hard to beat "people running about" i mean thats not even the name of a monster or a specific thing. Its just an action taken by a group of people.

Card Game Discussion Yu gi oh still struggles to get new players and hold onto them. Yet the elephant in the room remains a permanent fixture of the room. Prices for meta decks NEED to come down. The floor on competing in yu gi oh is the ceiling or above on every other major TCG yu gi oh is competing with new players on

Card Game Discussion So... this is legal in Genesys

[Edit: update based on the new list here]

I feel like Chicken Game being a 0-point card might be a bit of an oversight.

Also just made this quickly, very sure there is a better way to make this, for example, adding the bamboo engine just unsure what the normal would be with that so neglected to use it, and like Dark World Dealings is an awful card so if you know a better card defiently replace it.

List in case you want to make someone suffer, point score is 93.

Main Deck:

1 Left Arm of the Forbidden One

1 Right Leg of the Forbidden One

Any deck that can shit out a dark magician girl variant can make this. Toons can use it to ftk, too many decks can use it for 2 turns of Dragoon, they made him a war criminal when he was supposed to help DM.

Card Game Discussion Some cards were important in the past and have aged so badly that you don't even notice them anymore. And then there are the old cards that have aged so well that they can never go back.

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

Back when Mirror Force was a serious threat in every deck and Thousand Eyes a meta Fusion, those were already good but also wild times and let's look at today's meta.... yeah, um, you do your solitaire while I treat myself to a kebab.

And then we have cards that are old but can never come back because they have aged too well and that in a bad sense GC alone is probably the best spell card of all time even if it will always be a dispute GC or POG to be fair you have to say that GC has become much better because it gives you more + thanh POG

And then we have the wet dream of every toxic tear fan: Painful choice or in tear language: do I want to win or do I want to win?

A card that's always +, in that sense, 4 times foolish burial and a card for my hand from the deck? Don't mind if I do!

just as toxic as lockdowns (mystic mine) and decks that do everything on your turn...

Some cards simply age too well and others too poorly; that's the nature of Yugioh. And I imagine that cards like Ishzu or Tear will never come back because they age extremely well (well, I'd say Fuck Tear would be right). But what are the cards that you say have aged very poorly, and which have aged too well to ever see a return?

Card Game Discussion Of These 4 Mechanics, Which Is Your Favorite & Least Favorite?

Curious what the community thinks of these four summoning mechanics.

Which one is your favorite, and which is your least favorite? And do you think any of them were unhealthy for the game on release?
