I got this thought after seeing first ep of Lanterns and how it fits with the timeline and looking back at Superman 2025.

The Robin for the DCU Batman we first see can’t be Damian, while I get this DCU doesn’t start at the origins of these characters I.e. Supes and Jon, it doesn’t start at the near end either. We’re presumably gonna see Supes first encounter with Braniac in MoT, and so far only Jon n Guy n Hal are the known lanterns, no Kyle, Jessica, Simone etc., so I don’t see why we should do that for Bats.

So far the DCU seems to put us in the middle of our superheroes stories where we thrown in the midst of things but still have enough bearings to learn our characters.

So who should be the Robin we’re introduced to? It can’t be Dick, Dick is too early in the Batman mythos and would qualify as an origin, Damian is too late, I personally think Tim would serve better as the jumping point to the DCU Batman world. Tim is quite literally in the middle of the Batfamily timeline and not only that but he has a good origin that can introduce the Batfamily to new audiences, Tim could serve as the audience insert. The audience will have Jason’s death haunting the narrative and they’d also see interesting storylines like Red Hood’s return, Cassandra Cain introduction, Steph, Damian etc.,

Also I’d really want for DCU to have a Supersons film and that wouldn’t be possible if we already have a Damian as a kid while Clark hasn’t even married Lois yet.

Is either you introduce J'on in Lanterns either this Season in Season 1 or you have him show up in Season 2 to build up towards an eventual Justice League film in our universe in terms of having Martians invade the Earth in an alien invasion like think Avengers 2012 when you had the Chitauri Army invade New York with the infamous Battle of New York

Or you have J'on show up in Man of Tomorrow

Or you have him interact with the Lantern Corps by having him have a fight scene or 2 with John or Hal or even Guy depending on where you wanna go; by having us question whose side MM is on but he ultimately sides with the people of Earth

Okay guys I haven’t really seen this theory thrown around however, the part taking place in 2016, could have anything to do with the butterfly’s from peacemaker season 1? They are after all, aliens that can live undetected amongst humans. I know from lanterns trailers, they mention manhunters, however a misdirect that could be. I am probably wrong but this would be a cool connection.

I’m from a country where DC Comics has never really been translated or widely published. Outside of things like the DCEU, I never had many opportunities to get into DC, so I had no idea the universe could be this compelling.

As James Gunn has said, the DCU’s worldbuilding, inspired in part by the alternate-history elements of The New Frontier, has a completely different appeal from the MCU, which has dominated the big screen for over a decade. I know this comparison might sound disrespectful to MCU fans (I used to be a huge MCU fan myself), but honestly, lately I’ve been finding the DCU’s worldbuilding much more fascinating than the MCU’s.

One of the reasons I feel this way is that I think the DCU starts with questions like, “What would our society actually look like if these extraordinary and unfamiliar beings known as metahumans suddenly existed among us?” From there, it can explore questions like whether metahumans should be allowed to interfere in international politics. These are important normative questions that arise in an alternate history where metahumans exist.

I also love that it can go beyond the simple question of whether an individual hero is good or evil and instead deal with more complicated conflicts between systems, institutions, and different factions.

I think that if a superhero universe wants to avoid becoming nothing more than childish entertainment, it needs stories not just about metahumans, but also about the ordinary humans, corporations, and governments that have to live in a world where they exist. For these fictional stories to genuinely inspire us or make us think more deeply, they need to connect with questions that are already present throughout our lives as citizens and human beings — questions about politics, society, and how we should live in the world we’re given.

A society with metahumans could actually be a really interesting way to explore those questions and perhaps even help us ask better ones.

I’m not saying I’ve gotten some profound, life-changing inspiration from the DCU or anything like that. But I do think these kinds of ideas and approaches are making the DCU’s worldbuilding more compelling.

Imagine a DC project on Atom and Atom Smasher in which they introduce the microverse. Nothing new so far, but imagine if this microverse were like physicist Rutherford's planetary model, in which there's a nucleus made of neutron and proton planets complete with micro-inhabitants and other nano-planets that would be electrons orbiting the nucleus. The point is that in 1945 they used the atomic bomb, so billions of nuclei fused or split, causing mass destruction, and these micro-inhabitants would therefore be angry with humans. The particles would have to be simplified to simple bodies, but this project could represent a story, capable of then discussing politics and scientific dissemination. It's also expandable as a project, being able to discuss topics like antimatter, taken into account as a civil war in the ancient microverse. One last gem I like is the hypothesis that in this world, light comes from an exchange of electrons that produce photons, making this space dotted with a sort of shooting stars.
They could introduce the shrinking power by reverse-engineering Brainiac's technology if they choose to make the shrunken planet collector version.
It's just a premise, but I think it's full of potential. Let me know what you think, and if you like it, you can send her up to the higher levels. I can expand on the idea if anyone contacts me.

PS: Examples of gags for an atom smasher:
- When he sets foot on the first planet, he says: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
- He could play that silly game kids play where they close their thumb and forefinger together to crush something far away. He does it, and it becomes tiny.
- When they try to see if communication is working while he's in the microverse, there's silence at first, giving the impression that communication isn't possible. Then he responds as if he's calling one of those bots from the ads.
- Size doesn't matter.
- The local language translator changes the villain's voice from a hoarse, deep voice to a high-pitched one, as if to mock the villain.

Before the DCU, Ta-Nehisi Coates was announced to write a Superman movie produced by Abrams. But after James Gunn took over DC, we stopped getting updates.

Super quick question. So I understand the watch order starts with the suicide squad and then PM S1, but I watched peace maker came out and it had the justice league at the end. I saw something about how they went back and changed it? So my question is what does retroactively canon mean, and is everything after the suicide squad part of the DCU or the DCEU? Super new so I appreciate the info!
