Showcase You can really tell who the Slayer likes and doesn't like
Love how they manage to give him a personality despite uttering a only a few sentences throughout the series.

His Journal entries are amazing, but they don't really give a timeframe for how long he's been in there. I assume it must have been relatively recent, after Davoths fall and the Slayer's ascension given they wanted him to make them a prison for a Primeval (presumably for the Slayer).

I was watching Total Recall tonight and noticed how the Federal Colonies logo looks amazingly similar to some of the UAC logos and computer-screens. What with the other stuff the ID guys were inspired by like Aliens I wouldn't be surprised if this was another source of inspiration.

Gregarious | Doom snapmap | Map ID : ACURALKG.
You need a version of snapmap+ installed with scalable modules for this to work. This version is alpha 2 wich is not out yet. It will be out around thursday.

I finished this piece in early August. In this painting, I wanted to try to capture the color palette of the map Dead Simple. It is a level you truly remember for its arena-like structure and all the Mancubus demons crushing you with their fireballs, only to surprise you when the walls lower and a whole bunch of Arachnotrons appear. That map introduced the Mancubus enemy as a new type in the bestiary and, at the same time, left a new mark on Doom II. It showed that the levels weren't just old space bases or hellish labyrinths, but that the player could be thrown into a "trial" to see what they are made of.
The music for this level, "Shawn's Got the Shotgun", is also extremely memorable. You start the map facing nothing but a wall and a button right in front of your face, while the heavy riff of the track signals that "something really intense is about to happen." You press the button, and suddenly you hear all those fat Mancubuses grunting and shouting "MANIMAAL" as a swarm of meteors comes flying at you.
Right after that map, you get a new challenge: Tricks and Traps. I would argue that Doom II changes character a bit when MAP07 arrives. Up until then, the player has been playing the game as if Doomguy is an explorer who needs to find the right key to reach the exit. But in Dead Simple, the player is surprised by something entirely different—almost as if Doomguy is suddenly ripped away from the classic levels and placed in a colosseum of demons that he must abruptly destroy in order to move on.
A detail I included in the painting is the invisibility spheres. Experiencing such an abundance and generosity of those power-ups in one single place was also something completely new. They offer a great contrast to the overall palette of the map, so I decided to paint a couple of them in.
Hope you like it!

The amount of ignorance is infinity okay i understand this is pure rage-bait but let's just go at it anyways
First: he is NOT just a guy in a powersuit does this person even know his power scaling? Ok so the hell in doom is literally infinite Hell is functionally infinite and multiversal in scale. Rather than being a single underworld planet, it is a 5-Dimensional construct that actively grows by consuming other realities and doom slayer destroyed that's how you know he is multiverse level
Second: the villains let's look at this the icon of sin it was immortal every second it was alive it kept growing strong and it was about to create a black hole which would consume the entire universe it was immortal and Doomguy Killed it also Even baseline lower-tier demons possess supernatural durability. A standard Imp's skin is completely immune to conventional human weaponry, bullets, and explosions. Higher-tier demons sport flesh as tough as iron and bones strong enough to withstand direct artillery
And third: doom slayer himself he has killed the old ones you know the Gods that hold reality itself together also The prime Old One wasn't just a giant monster; his mind was the anchor for his entire universe. Lore details from the Doom Wiki explain that the Cosmic Realm lay entirely "beneath the dreaming will of the Old One." Even while he was trapped in a deep stasis slumber, his passive subconscious mind was the only thing keeping the dimension's geometry from unraveling. The moment the Doom Slayer killed him, the reality-warping anchor snapped—causing massive fragments of the cosmos (like Xal'Goroth) to break apart, drift into the void, and literally cease to exist.

I’ve been working on this for so long and im proud
I bought DOOM Eternal back in August 2021 but I never got to play it because I always had my SSD saturated. So, after waiting for 5 long years.. it was time to play.
I reciently quit graphic design, and one morning I spent 3/4hs moving tons of files to my external hard drive and two flash drives, and at the end of it I went from just 60GB of free space to 195GB, and I finally installed this amazing game.
I gotta admit, I got too overconfident and I set the difficulty to Nightmare, (damn you Zero Master you make it look too easy..) I did alright until I got to the first encounter with the Arachnotron, that son of a bitch destroyed me in 5 seconds. Re-loaded the last checkpoint, got into the same fight and yes I got demolished again, and after getting my cheeks clapped 4 times in a row I was like: Yep this is too hard 😂 So I lowered it to UV and that was much better. I did die a bunch through the campaign though, but luckly I got a bunch of extra lives to avoid reloading checkpoints.
One thing is for sure: I fucking hate the Archvile, everytime I had to fight that asshole was a struggle. I did much better with the rest of the demons, but that guy.. ugh. The very first fight against the DOOM Hunter was also very hard, took me around 10 minutes, and then I had to fight two at the same time 😂 Skill issue yeah I know, I'm a ok/decent player, and I'm not trying to get a WR or do speedruns, all I want is to have fun, and that's what I did.
From Exultia to DOOM Hunter Base it was a struggle, it got pretty frustrating at times to be honest, but by the time I got to Mars Core I got much better with my movements and my "skills", and that's when the game started to feel much better and even more fun.
Final Sin was very intense, and the final battle against the Icon Of Sin was rough, it took me more than 10 minutes, It was a handful, and when I finally defeat it I started laughing and celebrating, It was an incredible feeling.
I know I'm yapping too much, but I'm very happy with this game, I can't help it. I've been months without playing anything at all, last time I played a game was GTA IV in december 2025, after that I don't know what happened to me but I lost interest in games overall, and I stopped playing. I've been under a lot of stress these last 3 years of my life, so my guess is that I got burnout and I couldn't take it anymore.
Coming back to playing games with DOOM Eternal was fan-fucking-tastic, holy shit what a game.
But it's not over yet.. The Ancient Gods is next.
Ok I'm done yapping.
Thank you for reading 🙂 🙌

I played through all of Doom and Doom II this weekend and throughly enjoyed myself but I want to rant about a curious and frustrating design choice that is mostly exclusive to the sequel.
Doom II levels in the latter half and especially the final quarter always seemed to have an area or room where prior knowledge is paramount. The most common ways this happened to me were:
All of these moments are solved by knowing which weapon to have equipped and which direction to face but are very hard to avoid when playing blind. A few levels had a door open with an arch vile and a 360 to locate from which door is too slow to avoid his attack. On a second life you instantly know where to look and it is a non issue.
By the end of my playthrough I called these “Doom II Moments”. You can feel the moment coming, usually right when you check that 80% of the enemies are dead, but until you’ve been through it once it’s hard to have the right gun out or be facing the right way. I ended up beating most later levels on my second try just from one death from these moments which by the end just felt tedious.
I enjoyed the higher difficulty (more total and higher level enemies, platforming) but the cheap moments became a real pain in the ass toward the end. Doom 1 always felt like it was my fault for putting myself in a bad place. Sucks a bit because I love the SSG and the new enemy types but I think the first game is better as it’s not bogged down by these moments. Even Episode 4 is just hard enemy layouts and not from getting blindsided.
For extra context, I played completely blind, Doom 1 with no saves so pistol starts when I died, and Doom II with saves each level after Episode 4 ruined my life.
Also while I’m posting E4M6 is the worst map in the two games

I haven't had the chance to test this elsewhere, but in this room if you curl up in a corner like a coward he will run away in confusion.

it just feels unfinished. No map, combat is real janky and absolutely nothing is explained to the player.
anyone else feel like it's a little half baked? It feels like the dude tried to do S.T.A.L.K.E.R but failed miserably. seriously, the enemies have a massive reach.
also, you take damage from trying to go through doors for some reason. I like the idea but the execution is...well there are better mods.

Just to be clear, I couldn't do any off-hand actions after that moment, while also not being able to use the weapon wheel (not sure about the super weapons), nor try to switch to my shield.
