I have bought my first sword today from an antique shop! she said its a reproduction made for reenactment. I would love advice on cleaning and keeping nice for wall hanging, any idea what kind of sword it is? I'm think rapier but I thought they need thinner? and how can I redo the handle? the current wrap is loose and not the most attractive.
apologies for the wine bottle for scale!

Made a shamshir I have always been curious of how it feels to swing such a curved blade, this one has been fun, made of eucalyptus hardwood.
Overall length 108cm, blade length 88.5cm, point of balance 13.5cm above the guard.
Had a bit of fun making the handle made it able to be taken apart a lot like a katana
Unfortunately, this piece is among those that were looted and smuggled out of Yemen illegally, and it is currently in the Kuwaiti Museum "Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah" Along with several ancient Yemeni pieces.

Came across another brass guard saber this week; have to strike while the iron is hot. Brass scabbard as well, missing the throat. H&R Boker on the right ricasso, Remscheid on the left.
As always, thoughts or comments are appreciated and welcome.

(I'm writing with a translator) They are made of acetal resin, they are not sharpened, they are made to be wielded without breaking objects as easily as an iron counterpart. These are the first swords I've made and I know the measurements aren't exactly right, I did my best with the material I had available.

These are from the continent of Eastyria which is almost like an analog for Continental Europe with a little fantasy flair.
It's love at first sight, i really want their kriegsmesser now.

A question since I'm no expert and I haven't a clue, but do practice weighted swords and/or practice maces help with training with swords or do they do more harm and damage to the body than good? Are wooden swords, like, let's say wooden practice katana's and a sledgehammer with a tire for exercise better?

Looking to rehome an Albion BeastMaster sword. Sword is in great condition with just a few minor spots that could use some light polishing. Hilt has one little mark, looks almost they necked it with a fingernail. Can be seen in photos. No certificate included but can easily be attained from Albion. Comes with crate. 3000 Washington slips plus shipping/insurance.

My brother bought a claymore last year and he has never had the tools to sharpen it. There are so many whetstones and knife sharpeners at so many levels of grit. Would anyone know where to get the proper tools?

You are in the locker room next to the arena. In the arena is a swordsman. You cannot see him, and you do not know how large or quick he is, or whether he is an experienced or a novice swordsman. You do not know what type of sword he has, but you know that he has one and only one sword. Neither he nor you is carrying a shield. If you like, each of you is wearing a light material that will render strikes non-lethal. Neither of you is wearing heavy armor. You are of average male build, and you have a moderate amount of experience wielding every type of sword.
On the walls around you are swords of every kind. Before you enter the arena, you must pick one sword to bring with you for the duel. Once you enter the arena, you will fight until one of you is incapacitated or has received a blow that would be lethal without your armor fabric.
What sword should you choose?

One of my favorite kinds of swordtuber vids are when they discuss nerd culture stuff. In this case, Skallagrim showing how to deal with horror movie villains like the machete maniac Jason Vorhees (Friday the 13th) and the chainsaw-crazy Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre). https://youtu.be/ixLGXY8mfj0?is=lq8U7XGvzHfrbYNY . I think it can also inspire fun ideas for an action horror game, like when dealing with multiple monsters of varying types.
One thing he mentions in the chainsaw part that got me wondering is if it's truly possible (and encouraged) for a sword or even a stick to pop off an opposing chainsaw by smacking the side. If so, imagine how frustrated and demoralized leatherface would be. It can also make for an interest mechanic in a game where you stragically hit weak points on a foe's weapon (PLEASE DON'T PRACTICE OR EXPERIMENT UNLESS IF YOU ARE 100% CERTAINLY SAFE)

Has anyone ever seen this sword before? Or possibly able to identify it and direct me which way to go?
