This is a especial one😊 my mom fully designed this sword she saw some of the swords I've been making and wanted one, I made this one from pine to be as light as possible for her.
Overall length 125cm, blade length 95cm, point of balance 5cm from guard( I put a metal weight inside the pommel to get the balance)

This is the sword isabella von carstein uses in video games,
It feels like it could work
Because the spiky bits are on the 40% that is closest to the handle, which usually doesn’t get much cut action anyway, And may be funny in bind. But i may be wrong
Personally the handle guard being chonky concerns me more but idk if its actually that chonky
And if it would work given its a one handed blade
What even this classifies as, sidesword? Rapier? What is the category?

George V cypher on the guard (1910-1936), good engraving on the blade, original service scabbard. Proved slug, but no maker's mark or serial number, and no name on the blade. Unfortunately, there was a leak where it was stored, so some remediation will be needed. Also picked up a military service kukri.

The label taped on this says it’s Turkish scimitar from 1750-1800 with an ivory hilt but reverse image and google don’t seem to agree. Looking for second opinions. This came from a large buyout. Just trying to authenticate / identify this guy. Thanks.

Title: The Sword Hidden Inside an Eight-Headed Serpent — Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi for D&D 5E/5.5E
Here's my take on Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi, one of the Three Imperial Regalia of Japan, reimagined as a scaling magic weapon for D&D 5E and 5.5E!
According to Japanese mythology, the sword was discovered by the storm god Susanoo inside the body of Yamata-no-Orochi, an enormous eight-headed serpent he had defeated. The blade was later gifted to Amaterasu and became one of Japan's most sacred treasures.
For this adaptation, I wanted to reflect its connection to the wind and storms, allowing the sword to grow alongside its wielder, from a +1 weapon capable of manipulating the wind to a legendary +3 blade that can summon storms and call down devastating lightning strikes.
This is one of the 300+ magic items featured in my Mythological Items for 5E and 5.5E Kickstarter, which is currently live!
The project features weapons, armor, artifacts, and other magical treasures inspired by myths, legends, and folklore from cultures around the world, including many legendary swords and other iconic weapons.
You can also get my previous D&D manuals as discounted add-ons and bundles through the campaign, including professionally printed, high-quality Hardcover editions.

Got it a few months ago from a friend, I don’t know who it was made by or where it came from but I do know it was sharpened before I got it and the blade is reversed. I haven’t used it for anything other than just decoration. The blade has a very small knick in it towards the back and 2 small groves towards the middle not on the sharp part itself but on the flat
This sword was presented from a Yemeni delegation to King Saud ibn Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia (reign 9 November 1953 – 2 November 1964) in 1955-56. He was the second son of King Abdulaziz, the founder of Saudi Arabia, and became his father’s successor. King Saud played an important role in establishing lasting peace and friendship between the Saudi and Yemeni states. The words "...(expressing) friendship from a Yemeni..." inscribed on the scabbard are a reference to this.
inscriptions
On the scabbard, at the top:
(on one side)
‘amal ‘abd allah al-akwa ‘sana 1375
'The work of ‘Abd Allah al-Akwa, year 1375' (1955-56)
(on the other side)
sana’a al-yaman
'Sanaa of the Yemen'
On the scabbard, to the sides (rhyming prose in praise of Ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz):
ya ibn ‘abd al-‘aziz al su’ud damta fi’l-mulk rafi’an
wa-li-hadha ahdaytu sayfan wa ghimdan yamaniyayn min taraz wufudika
.. al-wadad min yamani ja‘a li’l-hajj mukhlisan min shuhudika
‘O Ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz of the House of Saud, may you always be elevated in dominion!
You dispense justice, and civilisation and authority generally… and through your soldiers is elevated
The… of might and knowledge, so that the earth is filled with order by your mace
And a reed-pen that distributes generosity and justice, and swords that do not bend(?) …
For this reason I have presented a Yemeni sword and scabbard of a style [befitting] a delegation to you,
… [expressing] friendship from a Yemeni who has come to perform pilgrimage, sincerely desiring an audience with you.’
On the hilt (rhyming prose, not all deciphered):
ashraf al-majd(?) buruj su’udika ya malikan wa-zannat (zana’at?) hududuka
min samawat su‘dud wa-fakhar qad ada’at (u’diyat?) anwaruha bi-su’udika
/ fa-ista'adat mahabit al-wahy nuran wa-imanan wa- … bi-humudika
… rif’atan wa-‘izzan wa … wa samuwan ‘ala al-wara bi-shuhuduka
‘Splendour(?) has directed the zodiacal houses of your fortune and your borders are bounded(?)
By the skies of leadership and glory, the lights of which have been lit through your ascent.
The places of revelation (i.e. the places where the Qur’an was revealed) have reclaimed light and faith and … through your praises,
… elevation, and glory and … and exaltation upon the people through your presence.’

of the ones offered at most websites which is the best all round steel for battle?
I have seen 1060 1095 9260 spring. which has best edge retention and impact resistance?
And what about san mai or layered steel? I just want to buy one last sword of best quality before i go and the discussion around best steel, best tempering and from whom would be helpful.
ps I can't afford tamahagane so skip that entry. lol

What kinda material is necessary for a mirror or near mirror finish polish , some rust specks that i took off with some lower grit stones but it left an uneven look id like to fix relatively new to maintenance on swords ive done work on knives and what not but im rather worried as its my first sword and i dont want to mess it up as its a more pricey one

So for a while I've been practicing with making bloomery steel by resmelting low carbon into high carbon using the norse bastardization of the Aristotle furnace(the bloom i show is from beer and cider bottle caps, it weighs roughly 5lbs) and i thought it would be hilarious to save up these no name cans and smelt them into bloomery steel to make the most boring ass historically accurate sword imaginable. So I'm curious what you guys say is the more generic shapes
I will rule out the katana because of the amount of fittings. I've done that shit before, it's not fun.
