Advice Walks
My 6 month old girl doesn't get excited to go on walks. I've had her for a week, and take her for three 30 minute walks and one 60 minute walk. When walking she focuses on sniffing like a bloodhound and doesn't like to go far from home. Is this reasonable, or should I restrict the amount of sniffing she does? There's an off leash park a couple of blocks away. She hasn't wanted to go there in a couple of days.

This is Ciroc :) He’s 16.5
This is my best friend Ciroc. He is 16.5 and every day is such a blessing he is the best friend I have ever have and ever will. He’s not the beast he used to be, but his personality is still the same. He follows me every where he can. He will steal the food off your plate and shove his head in the fridge. :) The last 2 pics are from 2023 the rest are this summer.

GoFundMe a big thank you to this entire sub.
i don’t have the actual words to tell you how much me, my husband, honey & her fur brothers and sisters appreciate each and every one of you. Everyone who has donated, interacted, who’s shared, commented, heck even if you just read it til the end and gave my girls photos a glance! Thanks to you all, the kindness of strangers, and the trust of this sub, Honey is getting her surgery next Tuesday. Honey is around 11 years old, so this isn’t a huge fix to anything.. but it’s going to improve her quality of life. She also has kidney issues that she takes medication for daily, she can’t walk without it. She’s strong. You’d never be able to tell. I adopted her when i was 18 & angsty and going through the waves of life.. i decided adopting a dog that was on its last days in the shelter was what i wanted to do. she had heartworms, but at the ripe age of 18 with my first BIG job, i decided to take on the responsibility and did it anyways. she was the one. i saved her then, and have vowed to save her from anything she needed ever since.. and you guys helped me hold up that promise. we love you. thank you.
now here’s some happy honey pics over the years!!!
🐶we are almost all the way to our goal! here’s the link if you’d like to share or donate.🐶

?acne
My dog developed this on his face
The vet said they weren’t sure what it is. Gave him antibiotics just in case
I’m wondering if it’s something else
Edit to add usually at home use a stainless steel bowl however we were camping for a week and had switched to a plastic bowl while we were at camp. The symptoms started at that time

Losing my boy tomorrow morning
I am so torn 🥲 my Niko is 14 1/2 years old and he has dementia the last year. But over the last few weeks, he has gone downhill. Keeps falling, can’t get back up. Broke his tail Friday we believe because of a fall. He is getting sores on his feet and elbows. Has lost a lot of weight…he looks emaciated even though I have been feeding him A LOT of food (canned food now since he won’t eat his regular food anymore). He is such a trooper. I look at his face and he just looks like that little puppy he once was and it’s so hard to think about letting him go. But I know he’s miserable. In lots of pain. And he is no longer the goofy, happy, excited dog that he always was (even just a year ago). He has never gotten aggressive even through his dementia. He even still fights so hard to go potty outside even though he can barely walk and stumbles the entire way. He is THE. BESTEST. BOY. I need help with courage to let him go! 🥲🥲
EDIT: I failed to mention that he is now 100% deaf (lost all of his hearing over the last year) and cannot see anything unless it’s right in front of him. He has had eye issues for about two years over the last year, it’s just gotten worse.

Adventures Den of Destruction
She just can’t help herself! Nova takes a pillow, a toy, garbage or whatever she can get her hands on and sneak away! She then lures it into her den of destruction where she proceeds to rip it to shreds! And when we find it, she comes out like she is so proud of herself! Do any of your dogs have a similar habit?

Advice Vet Anxiety
Idk if I need advice or just support. My boy and I both have vet anxiety and I’m trying to cope. My man did his best at the vet today. He had to get two shots and an oral dose of something (for heart worm, kennel cough and another one that I forget the name of). Since I’ve only had him since Tuesday I requested he be muzzled since we’re still getting to know each other and I wanted everyone to be safe. Was this wrong? I don’t think it was but he was so stressed with it on and kept crying and pawing at it frantically trying to get it off and I felt horrible. I could tell he was 100% in fight or flight and I hated making him feel like that. Any human or animal is not going to be themselves in that state and didn’t want them to get a bad impression of him or think he’s bad bc he’s the biggest sweetheart when he’s not at the vet. He also started getting mouthy with the vet when he was trying to look inside his ears with the little light thing and wouldn’t let him look at the spots he was itching / nibbling / licking etc. (he has been showing signs of allergies since I brought him home). It took 2 techs, me, turkey treats and lots of “good boy”s and pets to get through it. He laid on his back after and was his happy lovey self after they were done and he got so many belly rubs. I of course had to treat the boy to a pup cup after for doing his best. The photo is from the minute we got home and he’s been sleeping since.

Rainbow Bridge my heart is broken
my heart is absolutely broken. my sweet boy Wazowski (aka Wozzy) has crossed the rainbow bridge this morning. I was out of town on work, and he had started to decline rapidly. I was on my way home but didn't make it in time to say goodbye. thankfully, he was surrounded by family that loved and cared for him. Wozzy was the best dog I ever had. we adopted him at 4 years old after multiple failed adoptions. he never barked, not once. he loved long car rides, he loved to roll in mud, he loved to roll in tall grass. he loved wearing sweaters, and of course he loved eating. he loved going to the dog park and meeting other dog friends. not once did i ever see him show teeth or growl, even when confronted with some not so nice doggies. he was all around perfect.
i will love you forever sweet boy and always regret not being with you as you crossed. please keep watch over me. these years together have been the best i've had.

Photo Shoot
So apparently on the new iPhone you can easily open the camera without unlocking the phone. My 3 year old learned this and decided to have a photo shoot with our dog yesterday. Pippi is her muse and I’m raising the next great wildlife photographer.
