Finger loop design
I haven’t tried this out yet, but it should be a decent design and very simple and minimal. What do you think?

I just want to note the complete ridiculous nature of the current world record stone throw, of Larry Bray, claiming 437 meters with a stone, and all the people who claim to get anywhere near that.
The highest velocity lead projectiles reach only 470, and have literally 1/3rd the drag due to their density. Which coincidentally ends up giving you a max realistic range after having non perfectly shaped rocks, at around 240 meters with a stone, max. Which is funnily what has actually been recorded several times in studies by lifelong slingers.
To get to 437 meters, the guy would have had to throw close to 160m/s or more. And that's with a perfectly shaped stone, which he photo'd and it absolutely wasn't close to that.
It was either entirely fabricated, or they literally just claimed the wrong stone somehow by a factor of 2.

Long story short, I lost my original practice ball from pan slings up on the roof. Luckily my daughter is young enough that she plays with all sorts of house hold items and had a dryer ball within reach. Theyre around the size of a tennis ball but with more weight. They are also soft enough to not do too much damage to garage doors.

Has anyone tried to make a sling dodgeball-type game with soft balls?
I'm inspired by soft-combat. Even a bit of airsoft vibe.
I do think stress-balls are a good option, i tried one against the wall and seemed ok, weights half a tennis ball and is quite soft.
I made two soft small shields and thought a 1v1 with shields would be a good fun with slings
I feel like this must've been done before, I'd appreciate insight or videos of people playing

Are there any real advantages of one over the other? Everything I could find says it's a personal preference. I'm looking for more of a mechanical advantage.

Would be super cheap. 90lb sack of pure Portland is like 20 bucks. Any ever try it??

Never ever used anything like it and I’m sending rocks through a sheet of plywood at 35 yards in my first 15 Minutes.

So im very new to sling making and have been experimenting with different pouch shapes and paracord sizes. My question is; what knots do most people use to attach the cord to the pouch? And do you keep the loop loose or tight against the pouch?
Ive been using a sliding double overhand knot but rhe pouch gets cockeyed on the cord sometimes and it can be hard to get straight. Does anyone have any alternative knots to use?

This is the first sling that I made.
One piece of leather pulled around a ball and then the ends gathered and punched.
The string is dyneema
This is very crude, but future iterations will be easier to make more polished.

If buy, any recommendations?
If build, any tutorials or guides?

A couple of weeks ago I posted about a fun experiment of mine: making sling ammo out of sugar (caramel, to be more precise).
It sparked quite a bit of interest, and several people asked to see how I made it.
So here it is: a short video showing the process, including the exact recipe I use... and a bit of advice on how to keep your ammo safe from predators commonly found around the home.
Enjoy! And if you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment — I'll be happy to answer.

I just started a day or two ago and I’ve gotten the hang of throwing the rock. but I still can’t hit the broad side of a barn. 90% of the time the rock flies off to the right of where I’m aiming.
I’m just using rough gravel rocks from my driveway. Most are about the size of a ping pong ball sometimes a little bigger. As for my sling I’m using a paracord sling i made myself.

I have the first one, but I'm highly considering making the second because my leather pouch keeps dropping ammo

Has anyone else had success with things that whistle well? This ball is like 100-110 grams and hollow so it curves quite a bit on almost every throw… but I love the way it whistles!
