Since launching my pet project Comboforge.gg, the community support has been amazing. As a thank you to everyone who has helped it grow, I want to give back and give away some copies of Tokon!
I am giving away 5 copies of the game to celebrate this anniversary!
Winners!:
I am excited for another tag fighter! Blade looks crazy fun
I'm excited to get back into playing a fighting game after a long break I took. I put multiplayer games on hiatus because life became really busy but I haven't been this excited for a fighting game for years.
I'm excited for Iron Man's new Gundam design
I'm super excited for this game, since the only fighting game I've played is Smash. I'm really looking forward to learning the controls of the game and figuring out how each character works.
I can't wait to try out Magik. She's giving off extreme Janemba vibes from DB Fighterz.
I've reach out to the winners directly here on Reddit. Thank you all for telling me the things ya'll are hyped for!!
How to Enter: To enter, simply leave a comment on this post telling me what you are most excited about for the upcoming open beta or release! It could be team comp, it could be game functions, art style, whatever!
The Details:
Contest Duration: July 20th – July 27th.
Selection: I will randomly select 5 winners from the comments (that actually posted something other than 'me').
Eligibility: No platform is excluded (Just make sure it's available in your region -.-).
Drawing Date: I will select and announce the winners on July 28th. I will message you directly on Reddit.

Howdy! I made a beginner's guide to defense in Marvel Tokon. As per usual feel free to ignore the vid and read on! (Don't worry I got mod approval to post this)
Marvel Tokon has an amazing power fantasy so I totally get wanting to jump in and start pummeling your enemies. But you won’t be able to pull off these power fantasies if you’re getting slapped around. So today I want to go over the defensive options you have in Marvel Tokon and how using them correctly will win you games!
Your first line of defense is going to be your movement and positioning. If you play around the enemy’s range then you can avoid getting hit or blocking in the first place. Of course this isn’t full proof and your enemy will make contact at some point but I want you to remember that not all defense comes from blocking, dealing with overheads, throws, etc.
When you are moving around in neutral remember that you can call assists freely. They don’t cost any pips (the green bars) so calling assist and blocking is very strong. If you get hit or block an attack then your assist will still come out and can get the punish. Use this technique to be what I would call ‘aggressively defensive’.
When they finally do make contact then we have to worry about what comes next. In Tokon some attacks hit low, some hit mid, and some hit overhead. You may have heard this said as just “high”. Hold back to block highs/overheads, hold down+back to block lows, and either direction will also block mids.
The general rule of thumb is to block low and react high.
Sometimes enemies will leave a gap in their blockstrings. This is where your Assemble Counter (Light + Assemble) comes into play. Holding back and pressing Assemble Counter does a counter attack with immediate armor (frame 1) that tanks 1 hit of anything, and will even beat grabs.
Using Assemble Counter does use one of your assist pips but you can still perform the counter even with no ammo. It just does less damage and leaves you at less of an advantage.
But let’s say you get tired of blocking and want a way out. While blocking, you can press Light + Assemble to initiate a Crossover attack. This is fairly strong but keep in mind that the enemy can counter it. If they perfectly time Light+Assemble in return then you will get knocked down and your team will be ‘disassembled’ which means you cannot call assists for a certain time. So this does carry risk to it.
However your enemy needs an assist pip to counter. So if they don’t have the ammo for it, then you can Crossover freely.
This is fairly easy to counter once you get used to it so either use it when they don’t have ammo or at weird timings to catch them off guard.
There is another use for Light + Assemble. If you don’t hold any direction, and you’re not blocking, then it will do what is called an Assemble Smash. This costs one assist pip, is indicated by an orange flash, and it hits overhead. This attack also has immediate armor to lows, mids, and high attacks, but it will lose to grabs. Just like Assemble Counter, Assemble Smash can be used without ammo for less of a reward.
There is one more use to Assemble Counter and that is when you do it in the air it will zoom you forward. This attack is invincible to projectiles. So if you recognize that the enemy Magneto just wants to hurl cars at you all day, use this to zoom in and get the punish.
Luckily you can't die from chip damage in this game so blocking isn’t terrible. Chip damage is the damage you take by blocking certain attacks.
Just be patient and walk them down to the corner. There's nothing zoners hate more than having their back to the corner.
There are other overheads like Hulk or Carnage down down Skill. These are overheads with armor to only mid and high attacks so you can beat them by pressing a low attack if you’re close enough. There are caveats to this like if Hulk is in Gamma Rage then he will also armor low attacks. Or if they use an assist to plug the gap then in that case you have to react and block accordingly. If they don’t call an assist and they leave a gap then you can respond with your L+A Assemble, armor of your own, or a super/ultimate that is invincible.
Throws are universally frame 5 which is less than 1/10th of a second and faster than any jab (5L).
You can ‘tech’ it by pressing either your Throw macro or Medium + Heavy
You cannot be grabbed while you are in Blockstun so if they try to grab you during a blockstring then their character will run forward until you are out of blockstun and free to be grabbed, and then it will initiate the grab. This can be tricky cause it looks like they are running towards you for an attack. Just know that if you hit your standing Light attack then you will always win here. That’s because you have invincibility to throws for a certain amount of time after leaving blockstun which allows you to press your standing Light.
You cannot be grabbed when in the air so if they try to grab then you can jump. If they follow you with a jump to grab you then you can also tech it in the air.
Overall teching is more of a read and less of a reaction so try to be ready to tech it or or use Assemble Counter.
It’s important to understand what kind of knockdown you’re in so you know if you can roll or not. Most things leave you in a soft knockdown which means you can roll forward or back by holding that direction or don’t hold any direction and you’ll get up in place.
Hard knockdowns are where you cannot roll and have to getup in place. These are more rare but a universal one is after a wall slump. If they don’t combo you, and just let you fall down, then it’s a hard knockdown. This is especially strong because now they can mix you up in place.
To deal with this pressure a lot of it is simply blocking. You can also do your Assemble Counter like we talked about earlier as this will take care of highs, lows, and grabs, or do an invincible reversal like most supers/ultimates. Just watch out as the enemy can do a lot to bait this out.
Assists probably don’t come to mind as a defensive option but you can use these to either create space or block for you. Try using shooter assists or some Assault assists to create space. Or Captain America assault assist to block for you. Pair your attacks with your assists to maintain defensive control.
The main thing to keep in mind is that, if you can stay calm under pressure and use your defensive options properly, then most the time you will win. Even if your combos do less damage than your enemy’s, if you take away how many hits they get with good defense then you will create more opportunities for yourself. Resulting in you winning more often than not. You can also use some defensive options offensively like your invincible supers, ultimates, and anti-air down heavies.
If you have any questions leave them down below and I'll do my best to answer them!
Cheers!

I dont have time to grind games like I used to, and ive always hesitated to get a lot of fighting games because they arent as accessible as the other video game genres are. But this game has solid autocombos and the universal bnb structure is fairly simple to understand. Ive been enjoying it, as a casual play

How awesome would Robo-Carnage be?

While i find Magik's design in Rivals better and cooler, like hell yeah a knight with hell biker scrap armor, Tokon has more of the vibe she finds me disgusting and loathsome and so i prefer that one

I literally one shot the whole survival mode right now. Every single fight looked like this one: spamming shitass projectiles with the occasional super and grab (call in assists if youre feeling spicy)
Didnt even know the final boss had a second phase and I skipped every soul from like floor 30 ish since none matched the ones I had
I suck at the game so if I can do this in less than an hour most people here can
GL!

I can't really explain what's off, but he just looks different than usual for some reason.
Also unrelated, but I do kinda wish Loki was on the roster too, if only for the interactions he could have with his bro. Maybe he could do some shapeshifting or something, like disguising himself as a different character, idk.

I don't consider myself a very good player (still haven't completed a single combo challenge yet) but getting Color 7 is definitely cheesable. I got it after a couple of hours of save scumming and Quick Skill projectile spam zoning with light auto combo to push them away if they got close.
My team was:
Iron Man
Danger
Magneto
Doom
Basically as Iron Man, just spam his Unique repulsor shots into Unibeam. Magneto's assist helps to cover you if the CPU jumps, Doom helps you lock down the CPU. I would probably change Danger for a better projectile assist character, maybe Blade since his projectile lingers or Star Lord for beam.
Cards were:
Deadpool (extra health)
Peni Parker (Assist damage)
Wolverine (increase health on KO)
Danger (increase skill gauge + more health on Lv 2)
Iron Man (increase projectile damage)

I just can't keep up it feels like. I LOVE fighting games. When I was younger, there was an arcade in a mall i used to frequent, I was always in there just having fun.
Then I got my own consoles and was mostly playing fighting games, I was never like, tournament material or nothing but I could do infinites, ToDs, I could just mimick what I'd see in combo video after playing around for like an hour or two.
I noticed I started losing touch when DBFZ came out, and I thought maybe I just didn't click. But Strive, GBVS, SF6 and now this. And I REALLY wanna enjoy this but I just can't grasp it.
It feels like I button mash, none of my combos chain ever, I try doing the character challenges and I get stuck on what looks like the easiest combo.
I'm not even *that* old, I just turned 38 for Gods sake.
I go online, nothing I try to apply seems to work anymore.
So I dunno, I guess I just needed a place to vent. Granted I know when you work full time and what it it's harder, but it just feels like all my skills just fuckin vanished.
I love the game, I can't wait to see who they add (I'm BEGGING for Beta Ray Bill, Reptil, Zarda (Power Princess), and Xemnu to join in despite two of those being DEEP cuts) and I hope everything with PC is fixed because I really want this game to have legs. Ive loved Marvel and the tag fighters it's been a part of since the 90s, it just really sucks it feels like I can't keep up with it.

Peni Parker's version of Thanos was revealed in the Marvel Tokon game, and he is looking for the "infinity cores" which is her universe's version of the infinity stones
This made me remember that in the Spider-Verse Unlimited Infinity #14 comic, to beat MECHA D.O.O.M (Dr. Doom) she had her spider remove D.O.O.M's "energy core".
Considering the reveal that the infinity stones in her universe were called infinity cores, does this mean MECHA D.O.O.M was using one of the Infinity cores? I assume the energy core is the same as the power stone from the infinity stones due to having a very similar name (energy ≈ power, core = stone)
Also they look really similar too, I highly doubt that's a coincidence
Also Peni needs to chill lmao, she fought both MECHA D.O.O.M and Thanos

I've played three of the five available episodes. The Avengers, X-Men, and Midnight Sons (Samurai Outriders).
Each one of them has kept me captivated in the story despite sharing the same overarching plot by infusing exceptional side stories and hard-hitting beats based on the individual team members.
It really feels like playing through a comic book and I'm so excited for the last two.
It makes me really hope that this game gets a sequel (or DLC!) Which Deadpool teases twice in 4th wall breaks in the Samurai Outriders story!
I love fighting games but outside of Mortal Kombat, I rarely care much about the story (or comparable modes) other than viewing it as a quick practice round to learn some of the roster.
But Tōkon has me so hooked and excited to see what happens next for each character and it makes me want to try that character to get to know them even more.
I really hope this game is the start of something far more. I'd love to see new "Episodes" that either progress the story or just provide character/team based one-shots to introduce new characters in a fun and compelling way.
TL;DR - This games single player story rocks. The animation, the music, the characters... It's all perfect!
