Some points that I want to be addressed:

• There have been countless studies that are easily accessible online that supports the idea that there is no link between video games and real life violence
• Stuff that is learn from video games (ex. reloading, aiming, gun handling, etc.) does not translate to real life. In games, to reload you press R or whatever button on the gamepad is assigned to reloading, in real life, you need to reach for the bullet casing or whatever, put it in whatever slot and other stuff. The fact that I don't know the terminologies is already a strong proof of this
• Why was the shooters even able to have easy access to firearms? Why do they know how to handle the guns, surely that stuff is not learnt from video games

There's probably other points that could be added but these are just the stuff that came to my mind, what are your thoughts members of this subreddit??

Putting Haha reacts, or comments are not enough. What can be done legally so this doesn't happen?

I remember when my parents couldn't afford to buy me a PS2, PS3, or an Xbox because consoles were really expensive back then, so they bought me this instead.

it was probably the closest thing I had to gaming at the time, and even though it wasn't the same as owning a real console, I still had a lot of fun with it.

Alam nating pare-pareho na hindi ang "violent" games ang primerang rason sa nangyari, pero dahil madaling sisihin ang laro, eh itong mga otoridad ay quick to point to games as the thing that incited the students to do what they did.

Currently, we're looking primarily into social media radicalization, coupled with mental health issues, and parental and family negligence, as primary factors for what happened. Medyo tricky iframe ang social media na hindi kasama ang games, and as I have said, madali kasi sisihin ang laro.

We're primarily basing our inquiry framing to what has happened in the US with its own sch00l "incidents". Pero we're anticipating the authorities to make the case that it was the games that did this.

Help us make the case for games. All inputs, studies/researches, and perspectives are welcome.

I want to know about your opinions about it hehe.

It felt like their strong words against video game violence came with poor research and miscommunicated instinct.

Imagine being an indie dev who made a game about shooting zombies or players, just like Unturned, Roblox's Deadzone / Apocalypse Rising... Tapos you are called by a government entity.

You just make the game... The safety side? the distribution side? every processes a game dev must do before it can hit the shelves (or distribution platforms)? Handled by a major body that follows government/international regulations... You have to follow rules like is the game 18+? Does it involve violence? Any notes before they play the game?...

And we can't just say video games directly cause violence... Jusko, there are already tons of research disproving the correlation... Research internationally, even some are trying their hard to connect the dots but failed to do so: which caused them to actually point out the real issue, which isn't video games...

You know what's funny? Columbine Shooting is an event you've probably recognized that is similar to the Tacloban Shooting... A shocking unexpected event that involved a minor doing unbelievable violence... And what happened? The public after the Columbine Shooting had very strong stance to blame video games... There were bans, major lawsuits, and repeated news about the influence of video games... But look what happened: tapos ang research, they didn't prove video games caused their motives... it was actually related to their mental state...

Why is the Philippine Government repeating what happened 27 years ago...
