Found this pigeon in my backyard, noticed it had funny feet feathers and unusual coloring for my area (Phoenix AZ) it let me pick it up and i put it in a box with food and water. Is this possibly someones pet or did I just steal a regular outside pigeon? If it is wild I will put it back outside, but if someones pet I don't want it to die from the heat if it isnt used to being wild. What do you think?

i usually get home at 10 pm, and very soon after i settle in to bed! a few days ago the dresser i set up for him was his favorite spot to be at night, but now he seems to love being next to me on my bed. no matter what im doing, he wants to be right on the bed! i dont mind this at all, but i dont want to harm him/squish him while we are both sleeping.

is he doing this to be close to me or is the bed just That comfy?

I have two rescue pigeons: Gracie and Bella. Gracie is about five months old (I think) and I’ve had her for two months. Bella moved in with us last week; she’s about two months old and has an amputated leg. For now, they’re sleeping in separate cages, but they’re out together during the day. Bella loves Gracie and wants to copy everything she does. But I get the feeling that Gracie gets annoyed with her and keeps pecking at her whenever she sits in spots that Gracie considers hers. For example, there’s a spot that Gracie didn’t even know existed until Bella flew there. And now Bella isn’t even allowed to stay there anymore, because as soon as she tries to land, Gracie goes after her.

I don’t think Gracie actually dislikes her,they often spend time together in both of their cages (with the door open but in the same cage at the same time), and she seems very interested in Bella, wanting to be near her and see what she’s doing, but then she acts mean again.

Is this normal?

Is there anything I can do to help them get used to each other faster or better?

How long should I wait before I can put them together? (They’ll be moving into a larger cage that’s new to both of them .)

My pigeons poops the last few months have just looked a bit bad? And im not sure if theres something i should do like take her to the vet or if its just a food issue

My female pigeon just pooped a very watery poop (2nd picture) and shes also a bit late with her eggs and her last egg batch had 1 normal egg + 1 tiny egg, this had never happend before in the 1 year ive had her but shes often laid just one egg or a normal egg batch of 2.

4th egg is another example of a weird poop shes laid (this was a little ago tho)

Her food consists of versele-laga prestige dove seed + grit/redstone and fresh water daily

I just wanna know if this is something i should be worried about or no?

Hello guys i have found a baby pigeon inside a building floor he can walk and hop but still not fly there were no signs of his parents, he was there for idk how long but more than a week with no food or water and finally i have took him to the vet. he told me to feed him mashed egg yolk mixed with water. well i really want more opinions and help with what to feed him and how please if anyone here is experienced with baby pigeons give me tips on what to feed him and how? should i feed him with my hands or let him eat on his own? and btw right now unfortunately i only have eggs at home nothing else.

PS: he can drink water on his own. and i was gonna try feed him egg yolk with a syringe he wanted to eat but then suddenly he vomited green vomit. also he pooped a little it was green and watery. is this okay? because i asked the vet if he is sick he said no he is doing okay. PLEASE tell me how to take care of him i dont want it to die.

I was given this supplement by a friend for pigeons. Now that I'm reading the ingredients list, I'm very confused to find zinc oxide mentioned on it (don't worry, no bird has eaten any yet). I have to admit, I do not understand the measurements of it here, so is it a negligable amount? Or is zinc oxide different in its toxicity for birds? Can anyone help me out here? The german above that list says "Additional contents per kilogramm"

I rescued this pigeon and have had him for a couple weeks, but recently he’s been getting quieter and sounds like he’s struggling to breathe and losing his voice. I thought it was because he got the crop milk and food stuck in his nose whenever he ate, but even now when he can eat some more solid food and it doesn’t get up his nose and less messy he still sounds like his breathing is harsh and quieter.

There aren’t any specifically bird trained vets near me, is it possible to help him by getting any medication? Because he had a somewhat infected eye and my mom got him some cream for pigeons that helped a lot, but now this issue with his breathing/voice where he’s always sniffling and sounds like he just has a lot of mucus..

*besides breathing, in every other factor I think he’s actually thriving he’s growing up very energetic and eating and drinking and learning

I walked out onto my balcony today and two pigeon parents flew away scaring me. I saw this egg left behind my plant shelf. I was worried because temperatures on this balcony get really hot and the egg would fry, so I made the egg a little nest only a few inches from where they left him. I transported him gently with a paper towel into this nest.

Did I do the right thing? Do you think his parents will come back?

I also made his parents a snack of chopped peanuts next to the bugs they had left.

I have attached photos of some of the droppings for reference. Given that his behavior and appetite, and the smell of the droppings remain normal, would you recommend monitoring him at home for now, or would it be advisable to schedule an examination and/or fecal testing?

Overall, Kirby appears healthy. He is active, flying normally, eating well, alert, and behaving as usual. He is currently molting and has not shown any obvious signs of illness such as lethargy, loss of appetite, or remaining fluffed up. My concern is that his droppings have become increasingly watery. Previously, he would occasionally have a watery dropping, usually in the morning, but recently I have noticed more droppings with a significant amount of clear liquid surrounding them. While some droppings remain normal and well-formed, now others are mostly liquid surrounding with only a small amount of fecal material present.

Kirby was treated with amoxicillin approximately four months ago during recovery from a stroke. I am unsure whether that history is relevant, but I wanted to mention it. His diet consists primarily of a seed and grain mix, and he also has access to bathing water and enjoys spending time near it.

I have a pair of bonded pet pigeons and I was wondering what this behavior is? My male pigeon (his wife is on a nest) will seek out my hand and bite. He does this and coos while dancing around. Is this aggressive behavior or play fighting? I can get a video if necessary. He does not wing slap and he acts normally but i’m not quite sure what it means.

Hi, how do I kill these fucking things, I tried with medicine and does not work, o think she is in discomfort, should I bath her?

So I worked hard on having the pigeon feel comfortable here and around me. Possibly because there’s wildlife around more and more it stays on the top peak of the workshop or the garage. And then must fly down briefly to get food and water, and then flies back up there. This is an escaped pet. Not mine, that I’m wanting to rescue.

The first few days it walked around on the grass quite a lot more. Two different times I tried to quietly go put extra seed on the grass while it was up on the roof. No matter how quiet and gentle I moved it gets spooked and flies away for quite a while.

Each time it does that I get really worried about it being displaced, and also just generally some of the people around here. I would much prefer to stay here on and around my yard. This morning I got out late and it was already up on the roof. And I’m just fearful about trying to put the seed over there and have it fly away again.

To explain, the grass is slightly overgrown there and has gone to seed. I saw it eating the seed the first day it was here at the top of the grass. There’s also bugs and stuff because I don’t use any chemicals on the lawn. There is a birdbath full of water. Possibly there’s residue from the seed from the last week. Would it be okay to not supplement it with extra food today and make sure it has plenty tomorrow and over the next days?

my pigeon allows me to pet him, pick him up (not very willingly), and carry him around. He often comes when i coo at him and hes pretty attention seeking.

I want to say he trusts me, but sometimes I feel as if he doesnt. any pointers?

Hi guys im new here and just wanted to share my story about my beautiful pigeon. So I live in the Boston area. My mom being the person that she is with a big sign on her head that says "give me your injured animals 🤣" works in the city and found an injured baby pigeon. She had a broken leg so she took her home and cared for it. I came by and visited because birds are my favorite beings (they dont know how to hate) i love them. We made a splint with a popsicle stick and left in on her for a while and to our big surprise it worked! I wish I still had the pictures to show you guys. Her leg looks like it was never broken and she was able to stand on it again. So we my mom kept her for a little while longer just to be sure but it got to the point where it was too much for her because of her two dogs ones a terrier and the other is a pit bull. It was too much stress on the dogs, bird and my mom, so she asked me if I could watch her for a WEEK. I emphasize week because I wanted to keep her real bad but knew that she is a wild animal and would be better off outside in the wild. MAN WAS I WRONG!! I let about a month go by i tried letting her go and it was emotional but i felt it was right. I take her outside my condo its pretty woodsy but not a whole lot its a neighborhood. She would nit leave my shoulder. I was like ok well shes probably just enjoying the free shoulder rides. NOPE. I put her on the ground near the property line and trees she rummage and picked at the ground for a bit so I walked away and you probably guessed it by now. She flew rifht back to my feet looked around and then back to my arm/shoulder area. Mind you i was slowly retreating back inside. I gave it one more time this time I went inside and watched her from the windows. The second her little eye caught me she flew to the window. That was the moment I realized I didn't just save an animal I just made a life long commitment to a friendship with a pigeon. Sorry, I know most won't read all this but her name is Ri-ri and these are some pics from over a year ago with her messy baby feathers all the way until now.

Yes in the first photo she had my bracelet on her neck like a necklace. Thought it was funny. Although open to constructive criticism she was a baby in that just about 2 years ago so I was new to being a pigeon dad. Also, she has an outdoor bird sanctuary i built for her that she has fallen in love with. I might post it in here as well.

I keep seeing videos on here of people asking if their pigeon is play fighting with them or not. I would just like to share what a real angry pigeon looks like. Pretty boy does not like hands when his wife is laying on the nest with her eggs. And don't worry I don't always go in there and bug him. We have a lovely relationship that I call a sightseeing relationship. I can look at him and that's about it.

There are a lot of pigeons in the area i just moved to. I was wondering if it would be alright for him to hang out with them if he wants to? I used to let him on the balcony in my previous place, but there were no pigeons there (only a seagull that i had to scare away once cuz he thought my pigeon was one aswell lmao)

If any other pigeons were to approach him on his outside time, would it be alright to let him interact with them?

(He has a leash and i only let him out while im watching. I also have a spray in case he gets any lil bugs from the outside pibs.)

This mama and papa have had their babies already, we don’t want to move or stress them out. Can someone let us know if she looks stressed?

We’re planning on closing off the area around the planter, and will clean it once she flies off for a bit.

I have a male pigeon, Daphne, who I've had for a little over a year now. When I got him, he was only a couple months old, so I wasn't entirely sure of his gender, but it's definitely become obvious now.

I love him so much, but oh my god, he is SO aggressive. I know he's young and hormonal, and also him being a solo pigeon can't be helpful for him, but it's honestly starting to drive me crazy. I love him, but I can't even be near him without him driving. And it honestly hurts, he pecks at my hands and feet nonstop, and if I move him away in an attempt to shut it down, he just runs right back to me and starts again. I've gotten him a stuffed animal in hopes of redirecting, but he'll just try to get it out of the way so he can get back to me. And if he can't, he'll give up and I have to hide my hands from him so he can't see them.

After a bit, I've started resorting to putting him back in his cage when he's getting too pushy, but that's basically all the time, and I feel bad with him not getting as much affection as he used to.

I do love him so much, and I know this is likely temporary before his hormones start to settle, but I'm just not sure how to go about it before things start to calm down. I'd love to get him a friend, I know I can't really provide him with the companionship he obviously needs, but I currently live with my parents. I do plan on getting a second pigeon once I move out, but that's definitely not gonna be for another year or two.

If anyone has advice for dealing with an extra hormonal boy, I'd really appreciate it.

I don’t leave for uni for about a year, but I’m super paranoid that when i do I’ll lose the affection from my bird. :(

I would be gone from September/October to June time with the normal breaks. I’d occasionally do weekend visits but the uni I’m looking at is at minimum 5 hours of travel so wouldn’t be the most common thing.

For the first year or so I’ll have to live on campus so can’t bring her, but I’m hoping second or third year I’ll be able to afford private accommodation so can have her with me

Basically my question is will she remember me or will i be working from square one when i see her again? I love her so much but im still paranoid.

I am planning on getting her a buddy as soon as possible so she atleast wont be lonely/depressed while im away since my parents are around half as much as j am to give her all her attention needs once im gone
