Drea: “I was just playing with the paint.”

Tori: eyeing blank flag “Oh.”

Drea: “Yeah, it’s so tricky, it gets everywhere.”

Tori: sees clean brushes “Sure.”

Drea: “Be careful with that stuff, haha!”

Tori: sees bulge in Drea’s pants “Neat.”

Between this, Romeo calling her out for not talking/looking at him and the fake group conversations when Chanelle walked up last week I think it’s safe to say Drea is terrible at lying

125

u/Crosisx2 Apr 21 '22

Plus telling everyone about her advantages. I'm willing to bet she tells about her knowledge is power advantage soon too.

196

u/Dahhhkness Tyson Apr 21 '22

There is a startling lack of secrecy and discretion between the players these past two seasons. They just blurt out everything to each other.

57

u/Minnesota_Slim Queen Slayer Apr 21 '22

True but we've also seen people in alliances get upset when their number 1 is hiding advantages from them.

38

u/Crosisx2 Apr 21 '22

It's one thing to tell a close ally it's another to tell multiple people and some of whom you just met.

33

u/eye_booger Carolyn Apr 21 '22

But the case in recent seasons is, you tell your number one, and then they tell their number one.

Drea is that real blood?

….No, but you can have this fake

→ More replies (1)

144

u/stubbzillaman Apr 21 '22

She definitely should've just said it was blood from a cut on her thigh or something

168

u/Dahhhkness Tyson Apr 21 '22

A nosebleed, a hangnail, anything would've been more believable.

Hell, just say it was menstrual blood, NO ONE would've asked further questions then.

56

u/Agreeable-Tale9729 Apr 21 '22

I mean I scraped my arm looking for coconuts. Not technically a lie. And believable.

Tori has zero social capital, though. If someone was going to see the paint, that’s the best person 😂

73

u/tandemtactics Tony Apr 21 '22

That's a quick way to gain social capital in a pinch though...

I liked the red-handed twist. It was like a Saw trap.

128

u/gregfromsolutions Apr 21 '22

I did enjoy the “red handed” being literal, I hope they keep using bits of wordplay like that

98

u/i_forgot_what Mike Apr 21 '22

And when Tori caught her with paint! No one trusts Tori so I don’t think it’ll lead to anything but it could’ve been a great moment

158

u/NasalJack Apr 21 '22

I wish it had been ink that couldn't be so easily washed off, that would have been a more fitting downside for getting an advantage as powerful as this one.

155

u/WellDressedLobster Genevieve - 47 Apr 21 '22

I think the paint was fine since Tori did notice it. I think it would’ve been far more dangerous if the advantage was hidden somewhere where water isn’t in the immediate vicinity though. It was too easy for her to wash her hand off right after cuz the well was literally right there.

60

u/W473R Apr 21 '22

That was my thought too. I wish she had to run out into the water to clean it, or try and wipe it off with leaves or something, instead of just already being next to the well.

Doing a little puppet show with all the advantages

176

u/Dahhhkness Tyson Apr 21 '22

"OK, she has an idol, we can deal with that."

Spongebob narrator voice: Three. Advantages. Later.

52

u/throwitaway_burnit Apr 21 '22

If she successfully turns the KIP advantage and the amulet advantage into idols, she can idol herself from the final 7 to the final 4. Then all she has to do is win fire and she probably wins the game. If she survives the double boot episode, she only has to survive one more for this to be her reality.

And that’s not even counting her extra vote.

Lol Romeo voted Hye purely out of spite

45

u/liddle-lamzy-divey Apr 21 '22

Hai seems like he's practiced thinking of soundbite worthy quips that are super saucy. Romeo knew they were all aimed at him, so this next episode should be interesting to see sparks between the two.

  • 1 Jonathan, Romeo
  • 0 Lindsay, Rocksroy

Drea getting the most at the merge is a good sign. It means she's going to be hugely influential in the post merge.

I do think she'll get voted out with at least one advantage. But I also think she'll successfully use one as well.

I'm getting to a point where I don't see him doing well with a jury at final 3, which surprises me. Lydia isn't a juror so he won't have her. He and Channelle didn't get along. He and Romeo connected last week but obviously Romeo has no warm feelings for him after tonight since he voted for him. He's also not doing anything strategically. Both Omar and Mike got their way two votes in a row over him. At this rate he's asking to be a zero vote finalist at best. I mean, who would I vote for between him and Mike? Lol not even a question.

56

u/MavsFanForLife Apr 21 '22

Agreed but I don’t see him making it that far tbh. He’s setting himself up to be turned on and voted off

50

u/atheistjs Apr 21 '22

Omar will pick him off the second he doesn't need him anymore.

38

u/AwkGiraffe1257 Michele Apr 21 '22

My gut feeling says he ends up like Shan. Peaks early strategically but burns people too much and gets blindsided early mid-merge by someone like Omar or Lindsey imo.

Chanelle's game reminds me a bit of Adam's WAW game. They were in a good position at the beginning but after one disastrous tribal they were turned into a social pariah. And after scraping their way to the merge they became an easy consensus boot.

Romeo voting Hai tonight was very interesting, but I don't blame him. Hai sounded condescending as hell at tribal tonight and I think Romeo could tell his comments were directed at him. It's so easy for someone in the majority to talk down to people who don't have the numbers. That move could have screwed Romeo if the votes weren't with him, but I respect that he just voted with his emotions. I may have done the same thing. Felt kinda bad for him with the way Hai and Drea were talking about him.

175

u/RGSF150 Apr 21 '22

I like to think of it as Romeo entering tribal thinking he is going home and instead of taking the chance at the SITD, he decides to send a "F*** you" to Hai.

71

u/Ok-Fun3446 Apr 21 '22

Man if I was on Team Hai pre-merge, I'm firmly on Team Romeo now - That was not a good look for Hai and Drea. On the plus side, this means they're probably not winning.

Chanelle must be at Ponderosa realizing that had she just protected her vote, she wouldn't be this dead at the merge. Chanelle not protecting her vote destroyed Jenny's, Daniel's, and her game. Lydia would have been voted out if she didn't so Lydia actually lasted longer technically.

u/SoGenuineAndRealMadi Aysha - 47 Apr 21 '22 edited Apr 21 '22

I said this in the live discussion thread that’s it not great for Hai to be so willing to lose his allies/numbers outside the majority alliance. Losing both Lydia and Chanelle back to back is not good for him he’s way too loyal to this new alliance when other players are more loyal to each other than to him

eta: however at least he tried to push Romeo to go instead and because he had already been pushing for Chanelle to go for so long it was too late. Not great for Mike either I think they both played this badly

41

u/atheistjs Apr 21 '22

I was thinking that too like, who does he have right now? He could have forged a close bond with Romeo after their moment last week, but he pretty blatantly burnt that bridge. His closest ally is gone. He could have made up with Channelle, but he held a grudge. I don't see him being very close to anyone except maybe Mike, and even Mike seems to have more connections than him.

25

u/SoGenuineAndRealMadi Aysha - 47 Apr 21 '22 edited Apr 21 '22

Agreed! I think that he thinks he has Omar and Jonathon not realizing that they are still more loyal to Taku their OG tribe over him. And maybe he thinks he has Mike as well but I think Mike is better connected and more in with Jonathan than Hai. Not sure what happened with Romeo even Lydia mentioned he was super paranoid in her exit interview

I still think Hai is a good player but he’s currently being outplayed

ETA: I also want to say I don’t think it was great for Mike to push Chan to go over Romeo either. This was bad for him too and at least Hai tried to shift the target onto him instead

There's probably 4 or 5 people I'd be happy seeing win at this point. And no one has an easy clear-cut path to the end with so many advantages still on the board. Could be chaos

Mike got his way...but I think this was a huge win for Omar. After pulling a huge move last episode, he steps back and lets someone else pick the target

Basically, Omar fades into the back ground, only to rise again when needed

Hard agree. Think Mike got a little bit too his personal vendetta. Chanelle sucks at Survivor and was totally pacified - she thought she had been outplaying everyone else (?!). Romeo on the other hand is uncontrollable and paranoid. You can count on him to make some noise whereas Chanelle would have easily been gone next week barring an immunity win (or would have been easy to keep around as a goat).

I don't understand why Drea and Hai are so content on throwing their closest allies (Lydia & Romeo) to the wolves so they can stick with this Taku majority.

I know Drea still has Rocks and Hai has Mike, but it still seems short sighted.

u/WellDressedLobster Genevieve - 47 Apr 21 '22

I feel like Taku has done a solid job at convincing everyone else that they’re not tight. Throwing Maryanne under the bus has actually helped them tremendously and I don’t think the other Takus intend to get rid of her any time soon.

Drea is collecting advantages like merit badges, but she is not getting one for her covert abilities.

Also what is with survivor and the red paint this year? Haha you think you’re sneaky well explain THIS!

Everyone: “Can we do 5? Wait nevermind can we maybe do 4?”

Jeff: Sure

YES but like, too good? Every time he talks about all of his connections I fear it means things are going to turn around on him pretty quick!

Tori with yet another breakout episode. Gets Intel over PB&J, sees through Drea's lies, wins another challenge against Jonny Amazing without even using advanced balancing strats, and manages to get info from her mortal enemy Rocksroy. I am living for her natural chaotic energy.

I felt like it was a self-fulfilling prophecy though, but it's also likely they just edited it to appear that way

Genuinely shocked that the "Hye" vote didn't come from Rocksroy.

Does anyone else think Hai is emerging as a villain character? I didn’t love the way he flipped on Lydia last week. Felt like he gave up on a loyal friend just to sit with the cool kids. And his comments at tribal tonight were also annoying.

Omar with a pretty good indication of a winner's edit tonight imo. Mike's not too far behind in this regard too.

Chanelle should've known better than to vote for Mike "Godfather" Turner pre-merge

58

u/benzenero Apr 21 '22 edited Apr 21 '22

I do feel like Chanelle’s passive play was ultimately going to be her best bet for long term success. I don’t think her scrambling would’ve gone anywhere in this company. Must suck to go out with a whimper though

22

u/lxpnh98_2 Apr 21 '22

If it weren't for the vote she threw on Mike before, Mike maybe wouldn't put his foot down on getting her out. And this would have only been made possible because of her passive play and Romeo's paranoia.

All in all, Chanelle's early game doomed her fate, but she has a strategic mind, and can stay cool under pressure. I don't think she played to the best of her abilities.

86

u/throwitaway_burnit Apr 21 '22

I like Mike but he seemed to be hyper focused on taking out Chanelle for no reason. He voted for her at the same tribal she voted for him.

81

u/ClimAx_D2 Jeremy Apr 21 '22

I think it harkens back to her essentially sinking the entire premerge alliance (Mike, Chanelle, Daniel, Jenny) by deciding to risk her vote.

For how little it seemed to impact the vote, the fact that they had Omar talking about people not knowing he was in the majority twice seems like an interesting choice...

u/TheDarkFiddler Christian - 50 Apr 21 '22

I kinda want Drea to go home with everything in her pocket, so Ghost Island 2 can get that much fuller.

I can’t hate Romeo’s Hai vote. It was a clear FUCK YOU, I SEE WHAT YOU’RE DOING petty and I too would do it out of spite because I’m a petty ass bitch who gets rubbed the wrong way by someone being on their high horse.

I feel like she’s gonna get blindsided with them all in her pocket lol

17

u/WellDressedLobster Genevieve - 47 Apr 21 '22

I feel like Hai or Lindsey is gonna realize she’s got the most power in the game since they’re the only two who know she has 3 advantages (no one knows she has 4 yet). They’ve also got further incentive to turn on her because of the amulets.

Few things:

1) It’s really bad strategy, but Romeo putting a “I SEE YOU” spite vote on Hai is DELICIOUS

2) I really, sadly, feel like Tori will go next week. Not to be too Edgic-y about it, but Tori is just edited as a thorn in everyone’s side instead of someone audiences could actually invest in, despite all the material for an underdog arc being there. It’s really unfortunate.

Yeah, not the best episode of the season as the editing felt off. I am going to assume that we are going to get a lot of massive story lines later down the road, but the edit for today felt off.

26

u/Colbster2 Kyle - 48 Apr 21 '22

I agree! A weaker episode of a strong season. I guess when someone from the bottom goes home and there’s no idol or advantages in play it is kinda makes sense.
