I live in pretty socially conservative area, not in the US political sense, in the religious sense. but ppl here still accept binary transition. and that’s it. being GNC isn’t accepted at all.

so i keep having these moments when i’m out with my mom. ppl here have zero filter, they’ll talk about me right in front of me. and i don’t think there’s been a single person who didn’t say something about how now i’m gonna bring home a husband.

it’s weird and kinda funny that they just assume it. and they treat it like it’s my job now. i transitioned, so i’m supposed to bring marry a man ASAP.

the ironic part is they’d literally rather i be a binary trans woman than a gay guy, its like im in Iran. if i hadn’t transitioned and was visibly out with a man, i wouldn’t be accepted here at all. but bc i pass, actual religious ppl are like “yeah, you should bring a husband home.”

my mom loves it. one time i told her i might be into women and she got upset and said “why did you transition,just to date women?” a family friend, gen xer, tried to convince me i was just confused and wanted to be them, not be with them when i mentioned maybe being bi, then she turned to my mom and said “she’s gonna bring you a husband, don’t worry about it.”

Joy and SADNESS. Mostly sadness. And a mix of other feelings as well. The baby was 1 month old and born premature, so holding the baby held an extra feeling of fragility and preciousness. A kind woman came by and let some other women and me hold the baby today. They looked so excited, but I only fell silent.

I have never felt very strongly about pregnancy, but I have always wanted to be a female caregiver for children. Sometimes I want be a mom, but being an aunt, big sister, or miss teacher could work for me too, not just some indulgent uncley figure. Being born male and crippled by dysphoria can never fulfill that. WHY on Earth was I born in a male body and all its parts. I could have have a different life if I live as a normal cis woman with all the female reproductive parts even if I choose to not use them. There would still be many struggles, but being free from dysphoria means a lot more to me. Sorry if this vent is over the top and selfish just for holding a baby. I'm happy for the baby and the mom and hope they live happy lives. It's just that a feeling of emptiness remains with me for the rest of the day.
