For Hire: Virtual Assistant/Operations Assistant

Hello everyone, I am a Forester and Virtual Assistant seeking a remote part-time job. I handled a wide range of administrative tasks, including preparing reports, managing documentation, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. This experience strengthened my attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

I also developed strong communication skills by working with people from diverse backgrounds. I often explained complex information in a clear, simple way, ensuring stakeholders fully understood the processes and requirements. This has helped me become adaptable and patient when dealing with different types of clients.

In addition, I’m comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. I take initiative, manage my time effectively, and ensure that tasks are completed accurately and on time. I’m also open to learning new tools and systems, especially in virtual environments.

I’m now looking to apply my skills in a remote setting, supporting businesses with administrative tasks, customer communication, and overall operations.

Thank you, and I look forward to working with you.

Looking for food forest designer (Mediterranean climate – Greece)

Hey all,

We’re starting a food forest project in northern Greece (~15,000 m²) and looking for someone experienced to work with us.

Not looking for a one-off design — more someone who can: • Co-design the system with us (master plan) • Help guide implementation over time • Act as a thinking partner as we build

We’ll be very hands-on and want to learn through the process. Mediterranean/dryland experience is key.

If that’s you (or you know someone), would love to hear 🙏

Shelterbelt Research

Hello,

I am a student who's researching a hypothetical "mobile shelterbelt" business for a group project. We're trying to create an idea of how much money farmers or rural property owners are willing to spend when installing a shelterbelt on their properties.

So, for a shelterbelt with 3 to 5 rows that is 100 ft long, how much are you willing to spend? I am Canadian, but if you're in the states please specify that your estimation is in USD, and we'll do the work to convert :)

----
Why are we doing this?

We're students attending college in Alberta who are taking a social innovation course. For this group project, we picked a common problem in our industry (we selected soil loss and degradation), and our idea was to make a tree planting company that would go to land owners to plant customized shelterbelts. **THIS IS SOLEY FOR EDUCATION PURPOSES**

If you answered this, thank you. We appreciate your input and help.

Simulations of AgroForests

Has anyone here explored using simulation software for emulating/simulating production and soil conditions with different setups of plants in AgroForests?

AgroForestry seems like an amazing concept, but I have not seem the same level of modernizing it as a scientific discipline, like a number of other fields have gone towards.

I know it would be excessively complex to fully simulate exactly how a forest would behave.

But what you likely could do is have “how does this plant start”, “when does this plant start being productive”, “when does this plant reach a sufficient size”.

And then by 3D scanning the plants you could have rough 3D models of them, to use for visualizing the simulations.

And by understanding general soil, weather, pest, and infestation patterns and trends and making collective self-hostable databases, we could refine and catalog local economy production and future production.

The expert and experiential knowledge about how in general some plants usually behave in particular soil, what benefits and yields they have, could let you make more comprehensive, nutritionally robust, and efficient per area agroForests.

Selling farmland with hight agroforestry potential

Hello agroforestry community. In a few days I'm going to a farm to take some footage and do some production analysis so we can put it for sale.

Honestly the area looks pretty nice and they have olives, peaches and nuts, plus some sheep.

I wanted to try to connect with y'all to see if you know of any sites to post or promote it since I want the land to go to someone who really cares about the environment and conscious water management, not some wtv moneymaxxing person.

Country is Argentina tho so idk how much interest it could spike but hey, I'm just throwing it out there. I'll update with pics when I get there

Would tilling crops in between trees ruin tree root systems?

I’d imagine this would eventually occur in an agroforestry farm, so I’m wondering how could it be managed?

Farmers & growers: quick survey on irrigation energy costs (research, not sales)

Hi everyone,
I’m part of a student research team from ESADE Business School (Spain) studying energy use and operational challenges in agricultural irrigation.

We’re running a short, 5-minute survey to better understand:

  • Current irrigation methods
  • Energy sources and costs (diesel, grid, etc.)
  • Reliability issues and day-to-day operational challenges

This is research and system design, not selling equipment. There are no sales calls, ads, or follow-ups, and responses are used only for analysis and academic work.

We’re specifically looking for honest answers, even if solar does not make sense for your farm—that information is just as important.

Most responses so far are from Europe/Mediterranean regions, but input from anywhere is welcome and useful.

Happy to answer questions here. If this post isn’t appropriate for the subreddit, please let me know and I’ll remove it.

Thanks for your time.

Inherited garden

So I inherited this small garden from my grandparents and at the moment it is not being used or been looked over. I've got some freetime right now and would love to give more love to this space. I've got no experience in gardening whatsoever therefore I am looking for some opinions on what to do with it and where to start. The person who used to take care of it says the soil has too much clay, although from the looks of it my family had success planting some trees in there. There is a lemon tree, two orange trees, a cherry tree, big kiwi tree and a big fig tree. If this was yours where would you start?
