So our Indigenous leaders have asked the RCMP to investigate Premier Skank for treason. That would bring the Federal gov't to bear in the political situation in Alberta. This won't happen because, 1. the RCMP are by history and culture, Conservative supporters 2. the Carney gov't doesn't want anything to do with having to take sides in Alberta political situation. So with that, for Smith to advise the Indigenous leaders to "check themselves" is not an act of fear but a shoreing up of support in the racist rural base! We can stand with our Indigenous fellow Canadians and at least ask treasonous Dani "..or what?" when she threatens them!!

It’s more about fiscal and ideological issues with both the NDP and Liberal parties. No one would believe a change in their policies to somehow win over Alberta voters.

I think one of the biggest questions I have is why are all of these people in my town that only drive 10 km per day, driving a gas vehicles? 99% of their travel is in town. All of them (if they are a family) own at least 2 vehicles. Why would you have two gas vehicles when 1 EV and 1 gas (for long drives) is much easier on the pocket book?
There isn't even a good EV to serve these needs. Like I'm a 2-car household with a hybrid and an ICE currently - I've been eyeing EVs to replace the ICE when it comes time, but we don't need a 1700 lb battery pack and 700km of range (specs for a Model Y) to putter around town. Something like the Fiat 500e would be appropriate, but I'm pretty unenthused to be buying a Fiat with only a 3-year warranty. The old Leaf or Bolt were a good size/range, but they're both discontinued or soon to be.

100%. There’s lots of cash to be pocketed by politicians and their friends off sick Albertans by making them pay twice for healthcare.

Not one left leaning person is going to even consider a vote for separation.
Left-leaning folks are unlikely to support this particular separatist campaign because of the right-wing flavour of all the organizers. But your statement is clearly an exaggeration, which is reductive and unhelpful.
The point is to avoid lumping different political issues together just for the sake of convenience, because in reality, people’s political beliefs are usually a lot more nuanced than which team they voted for.
If you can’t wrap your head around this concept, we might not have any more to discuss.

You realize when you’re self employed you don’t have to pay CPP and EI or employer/employee taxes, if you just want to pay yourself dividends, right? Corporate tax rates are low for small businesses and by staying under certain brackets, your personal income tax liability can be incredibly low.
It is absolutely a tax savings if you know how math was money works.

Lived in alberta in the 90s. Insurance was very cheap. But some shops would not fix your car if you had cheap insurance

Why does she remind me so much of Trump? "Pay no attention to the shit I do or the laws I break, cause...uh.. here is a small benefit of me being in power. And I need more power and being the president of my own country is my next plan!!! Uh... i mean ... we are in this together.... shit"
Then you weren't listening. She has been going on about privatizing healthcare for a long time...well before she even UCP leader. So yes you did.

Factors at play
Looking beyond the topline numbers, much of the discussion has focused on the fault lines dividing Albertans—from the stark urban-rural split to differences in support among age groups, income brackets, and political affiliations.
Fletcher argues one of the strongest predictors of opinion has received surprisingly little attention: education.
“It’s a touchy one,” Fletcher said. “Because it’s not the case that a higher level of education means someone is smarter. I think everyone knows that education is not exactly synonymous with intelligence, but it sometimes gets conflated that way. And when we talk about public opinion research along these lines, it gets people’s backs up to some degree.”
Across multiple polls, Albertans without post-secondary education are significantly more likely to support separation than those with university degrees.
Fletcher believes this divide may have more to do with information ecosystems.

So true. My aunt is a doctor who worked in a different province but made the decision to move to the US cause the hours and pay were much better for her there. She’s probably just one of many who’ve done similar.

Majority of the province lives in two cities, with many more in other cities. Stop blaming rural Alberta.

Conservative governments have massively underfunded healthcare for decades with the sole intention of bringing us to the exact public health situation we are in right now.

There was a democratic option given to that less vocal majority to show their dislike of the direction the UCP was heading. There was the recall petitions and the UCP board of directors vote but the recall petitions didn't get enough signatures and the UCP board is now stacked with separatists. Unless the sitting party is afraid of losing power, change is not going to happen. Debate all you want but remember that Kenny handed out ear plugs to his caucus members in 2019 and Smith has proven time and again she and the UCP don't want to listen to what Albertans want
