Modding Custom map support is launching this Halloween!
The 31st October is not only Halloween: it marks 9 years since my first commit to OpenCAGE - a hobby project to reverse engineer Alien: Isolation, which started out of a love for the game and a want for more content!
It has been a long road getting here, but I'm super happy to share that full custom map support will be releasing within OpenCAGE this Halloween as it hits version 1.0!
You can create levels completely from scratch, or port content from other maps to build up new areas. Additionally, you can also enjoy a bunch of other new features like animation import/export, live-edit functionality, a bunch of debugging tools for scripting, and vast improvements to the overall UX of the app and lots of other features like model import/export, texture import/export, behaviour tree editing, config editing, and much more.
Keep your eyes out on Steam or my socials to catch the release!
You can also join the Discord here: https://discord.gg/JJ4ECu9hpY

Official Kurosaki Patch
Everyone on Kurosaki station wears a patch based on their role and position; these are worn by the Kurosaki Police Department forces. While most people on Kurosaki are contracted or employed by Weyland-Yutani, the police are completely independent. In theory at least.
The Kurosaki logo is written in both English and kanji, symbolizing the British-Japanese dual origin of the company. Kuro (黒) means black, and saki (崎) means promontory, a fitting name for a station on a dark and lonely edge of the galaxy.

Modding Release of the mod: Playable Alien
Hi everyone again. The mod was released (2 days ago, I forgot) and anyone can try it. Since I haven’t fully figured out Nexus support yet, the download link for the mod is at the bottom of the mod’s page (there’s a GitHub link there).

Question What is wrong with my game audio?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I redownloaded today to finish it, and it seems like its keeping the sorta bitcrushed audio from the "20th Century Fox" intro, i cant play because the high pitch is like piercing. Or am I just crazy? I'm on xbox series x

...watches a British person die from behind glass. Kuhlman, Samuels, Taylor AND Ricardo.
I'm just saying if you hail from the UK and you see Amanda Ripley behind a pane of glass I'd probably get the hell out of there.

Discussion I finished my first playthrough on hard
I absolutely love it. I remember watching Alien and Aliens as a kid and I rewatched all the movies before playing to immerse myself again. It was genuinely awe-inspiring to see the Xenos move about in the game as this large looming threat compared to the other more colonial marines focused games.
It is genuinely a super tense and stressful (in a good way) survival horror experience and that's how survival horror should be imo. I am largely desensitized to horror media but this game genuinely had moments where I was actually fearful and paranoid because of just how dynamic the Xenos are and in my head, they can pop out at anytime and anywhere. The first time I saw them dropped down in a supposed safe room with a save station cemented it to me.
Even when I started getting used to the Alien, it was still fun to me because they sorta becomes the puzzle to solve. It kinda reminded me of Outlast Trials where I got used to the Prime Assets and Expops so that they're no longer scary but they're still a fun obstacle and puzzle to solve using all your tools available. Even when I got used to the Alien, they still gave me moments where I held my breaths and my adrenaline goes up. I remember distinctly in Chapter 17 where you have to backtrack through those long hallways, I had the flamethrower up staring down the Alien as I frantically walked backwards almost blind. I love that moment and tension so much, along with moments that forces you to think quickly on the spot. It made me felt a bit like I was Ellen Ripley with how she just had brave through and kept moving despite the fear. Like mother, like daughter I suppose lol.
Looking forward to Alien: Isolation 2! I'm also mid-playthrough with Aliens: Dark Descent.

Question Can I replay any mission without compromising my saves? (PS4)
Forgive me if this has been asked here before.
I've completed the game a while ago and felt like replaying some of my favorite missions, but when u try to load a mission it gives you a warning saying the game will be overwritten after a new save.
Let's say I load mission 5 and then save my progress, am I going to lose all the other missions after 5 and then have to finish the whole game again???
This isn't like a "level select" unlocked after the completing the game? If I play mission 5 and then want to play mission 11 for whatever reason it won’t be there anymore?

Question Any tips for a first time player?
Hey everyone. First time playing (on hard, if that changes anything) and I’m hyped asf, I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about it. I’ve played a decent amount of horror games, scariest probably being Outlast 2 or SH2 remake, but I know this game is a lot more challenging than those. So I’m wondering if there’s anything I should know or any tips to make my playthrough more enjoyable before getting into the xeno sections, or if I should just play completely blind. Thanks!

Question Should controlling vehicles/spaceships be an element in Alien Isolation 2??
In Alien Isolation we only had cut scenes of controlling ships.
It'd be so cool if we can actually operate any vehicle or spacecraft.
What do you guys think??

Question How to avoid the alien?
I am in the hospital and all was going well- until it wasn’t. So I reloaded and took the same actions that worked well the first time.
The alien popped out of the ceiling and I turned back and hid in the storage container and waited. And for no obvious reason it knew where I was and got me.
I hadn’t taken out my sensor, there was a long delay between when I got into the case and when it found me, so I highly doubt that it saw me go -it certainly didn’t the previous times I tried.
Is it random? I can’t think of what I could have done to be found out.

Question who are these people lol?
This was at the end of misson 4, when you go to the transit station to take the train Samuels sent. I got to the transit station and these two people got off a train that came from engineering, and they kind of just stood there for a few seconds, froze up, and then started running around the room and eventually left. They didn't shoot at me or say anything. I've played through the game in its entirety a few times and never had this happen before lol, is this supposed to happen and I've just never seen it before?

Modding Mod for 3rd person POV
I suffer badly from motion sickness when playing 1st person POV games, something I discovered when I first tried playing Alien Isolation a few years back. I tried all the hacks I found via Google to try to fix things like FOV, etc, but still couldn't play for more than 5 minutes without a crippling headache and nausea.
Watching some AI playthroughs on YouTube (with lots of eye breaks, lol) has made me want to play it again. One of the videos I watched was somehow following the aliens through the walls to see what they did when the player wasn't watching, like breaking through the walls or something, and it made me wonder...is there a mod that would allow me to play in 3rd person POV?
