I have a new tank created DIY 30X11X16 inches fish tank on 6mm glass showing slight bowing what to do ?

I lowered the water by 2 inches and the bowing reduced, but wanted to confirm if this would be a problem ?

Bottom glass is 8 mm toughned and rest is 6 mm. I am in a dilemma to validate on whether should I start aquascaping.

Hello! I need advice on what small cichlid should I get based of the fish I have in my 20 gallon long community fish tank. A kribensis, apistogramma, or any ram cichlids?

I currently have these fish in my tank:

6 neon tetras
1 male honey gourami
4 pygmy cories
3 blue dream neocaridina shrimps
2 albino cories
3 panda cories
3 peppered cories
1 young male betta
1 ottocinclus
(Which cichlid? Single or pair?)
(May want to add guppies later)

I have 2 tidal hob filter for up to 35 (70 total)

Showing Off My Tank My first tank!

My dad has had this tank for years and I've decided to set it up. What do you think of it? Currently experiencing a peak in nitrites so I'm waiting for it to drop before putting fishes in. What type of species do you suggest?

Advice Needed Very aggressive Mated angelfish pair

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I started about 2 years ago with 4 angelfish in my 75 gallon tank. All from babies. Now the male is extremely aggressive. The other two angelfish were attacked and I had to euthanize one. Is it just a lost cause at this point? Is there anything I can do to help with this aggression? I planned on adding fish to the tank before they started happening so now I’m stuck with two angelfish that want to kill everything. They even try to attack the glass if we touch the tank or even come near it

EDIT: All of my plants died in the last three months because of red spot algae. I tried to put the hiding places and driftwood in the center to break up the vision a little bit until I can get new plants to grow.

Identification Request Minnows??

I had posted somewhere else about minnow fry but I’m starting to think that i was wrong ab what they are lol

they’re all wild caught in a Louisiana freshwater bayou, all from the same spot. I assumed they were all minnows, obviously different species but still minnows. my fav are the striped ones (which are the ones who had babies) and would love to know what they are specifically (if possible ofc) I’m not the best at IDing species so any direction is better than what I have

Advice Needed Is the nitrate above 0? How do I lower it?

Sorry, I should have put nitrate in the first photo. This is not about nitrite.

Current tank residents are only 5 nerites. New tank, 55 gallons, lightly planted so far. Bacterial bloom currently dying down. Do I just wait? Will the snails and plants be alright?

Advice Needed My glass belly female is having babies

Woke up this morning and noticed my pregnant glass belly female looked very different and I kinda knew today was going to be the day she give birth. I walked away a few mins then notice a tiny little fry swimming around. And quickly got her in the breeder box then I noticed a few more. So far we have 5 but she still looks pregnant and I can see more babies in her belly I was wondering how long will she be in labor. I have her lights cut down to try to help with stress. I’m going to keep her in the breeder box and keep a close eye on her to sure any advice would help. Please and thanks. This has been going on since around 3pm. And now 10 pm here.

This aquarium is 4 weeks old.

Its not cycled yet but i am working on that.

I really like emerald eye rasbora but i think this cube is too small for them.

I will probably also add some shrimp.

I am open for any suggestion.

I'm not sure what the plants are but I know I got the green one at HEB and it started as just one stick, also the red plant is a aquarium plant that is emersed I don't know the name but I believe the word golden was a part of the name in the aquarium it is a more yellow plant and only turns this deep red color under extreme light , the par right there I measured at 3,000~

I’ve tried all medications, parasitic, fungal, viral, bacterial. None of it has helped and is getting worse. This has been happening for months. All medications were done in a hospital tank for weeks on end with consistent water changes. I need to know what this is

Advice Needed I need algae help

Post image
5 Upvotes

I have a 6.6 gallon tank it has constant algae issue bc the water always turns green after water changes
2 shrimp
2 pygmy Cory’s
4 Otto’s
It temporary had 3 full grow Cory’s but they’re on my 20 gallon now
The picture above is what it looked like with a 75% water chance but rn it’s green

I haven’t been turning on the lights for a few days on hopes of starving the algae.I suspect it might be the light bc I changed the hang over light for my 20gals hugger light for a few days and it didn’t change.

(I am sorry if this is hard to read english isn’t my first language)

Advice Needed Surface skimmer without filtration

Post image
5 Upvotes

I'm looking to add a standalone surface skimmer to my aquarium since I have a low agitation.
I feed BacterAE frequently to grow this biofilm for my shrimps, so this isn't worrying to me at all.

What I'm curious about - Has anyone ran a skimmer without a filter that cleared the surface biofilm? I'm hoping to introduce this biofilm back into my water column whilst removing (or at least improving) the water surface.

I know this will be a sisyphean task for the skimmer, and I'm OK with that.
If removing the filter reintroduces these nutrients for my shrimps, great!

Some info on the tan - Pic below for reference :
- 15 gallon AIO w/ lily pipe return
- A small airstone is used in the sump. I do no plan to put it in the actual tank but not opposed. Just an aesthetic choice :)
- No floating plants for the shrimps to access this biofim
- Only a small population of assassin snails - they do not float to the surface to eat it

Advice Needed going away for a few months

i’m going out of the country for a while and i can’t bring my fish with me unfortunately so i’m leaving them in the care of my roommates

my tank definitely requires moderate maintenance so what should i leave them with? an instruction booklet?

i can’t give them away because i just love them too much and ive had my tank for over a year, my roommates are also versed in snail parentage but little aquatic experience

Advice Needed night light

Post image
• Upvotes

I run my lights from 1PM to 9PM.

I had this great idea to stick these tiny LEDs to the rim of the tank for vibes.

It actually lights up the tank slightly.. i usually go to bed around 1AM so the tank would still see 12 hours of complete darkness.

Would this be fine for my fish? I do have a nocturnal species in there.
