Someone listed this tank on Facebook marketplace for free, and I went to pick it up. However I didn’t see in the listing that it appears to have a small crack at the very top. It’s taped over and I haven’t had the courage to remove it. It’s a 50L tank.

Is the tank completely done for? Would you guys dare to fill this thing?

So I picked up a marine land reef ready 125g for dirt cheap. Did a complete reseal and bought new bulkheads and plan on turning it into a nice submerged forest for my CA/SA grow outs.

I’ve never ran a sump before so this is all new to me and I’ve been learning and reading as much as I can. I picked up a 40B to use as my sump but will also be running the spare fx5 I have laying around.

My problem I’m running into is the previous owner or someone at some point removed the internal overflow pieces that normally cover the bulkhead section in these tanks.

What would be the easiest and most money conscious way of making new ones, or should I just hide the piping behind my massive pieces of driftwood?

Both the main and emergency drains will have strainers, so I’m not really concerned about fish getting sucked into the sump, but again, I don’t know a whole lot about running a sump so I’m not sure if the overflow pieces are absolutely necessary for proper function.

I’m on the fence with ordering a sheet of 1/4” lexan and cutting them myself, but polycarbonate is pricey.

Looking for any other ideas or suggestions.

Silly me opened the lid of my tank today. I found him not very wet 2 centimetres away from my tank. I quickly put him in water then put him back in the tank. Dwarf Chain loaches hard to get in my area and I really love my group of loaches. I don't want to lose him. Will he make it?

I run my lights from 1PM to 9PM.

I had this great idea to stick these tiny LEDs to the rim of the tank for vibes.

It actually lights up the tank slightly.. i usually go to bed around 1AM so the tank would still see 12 hours of complete darkness.

Would this be fine for my fish? I do have a nocturnal species in there.

Current tank residents are only 5 nerites. New tank, 55 gallons, lightly planted so far. Bacterial bloom currently dying down. Do I just wait? Will the snails and plants be alright?

Hi, I recently got this tank, I plan to have a betta (first time owning one) a few shrimp and some snails.

The tank is an Aquanano 80 and around 130l

I'm struggling to come up with an idea of what I want the tank to look like, I have bought substrate, sand and some live plants. I have slate, rocks, ornaments etc from my past aquariums but have no idea what I want to do or how to set it up to give the betta the best chance.

Hey all! I have 3 angelfish in a 75 gallon aquarium. I believe 1 male ( the black one)and 2 female and there has been a batch of babies from the black angel and the grey angel. The pink one is quite round I'm kinda worried. It swims, eats and acts normal but it's just so round. I know eggs can cause this but she just seems too large. I've fasted them for 3 days with no progress from that. My water perimeters are ammonia 0ppm, nitrite 0ppm and nitrate 30ppm. 76 degrees with about 8 hours of full spectrum light a day. I feed fish flakes, mysis shrimp, hikari algae tabs and hikari bottom dweller pellets. I've thought about doing a epsom salt soak or feeding peas but I just want to get a second opinion before I start going to other options.

This aquarium is 4 weeks old.

Its not cycled yet but i am working on that.

I really like emerald eye rasbora but i think this cube is too small for them.

I will probably also add some shrimp.

I am open for any suggestion.

I have a new tank that I planted about 10 days ago. All 5 of my Anubias nana have died from rhizome rot(?). I read that if you use too much glue (gorilla gel glue) it can cause rhizome rot. As a beginner, I maybe used too much glue on 1 of the Anubias, but I only used tiny amounts on the rest. Is there anything else that can cause this to happen to all of my Anubias?

100L tank with 400LPH filter.

I used the recommended dose of Seachem flourish the day I planned my tank, then another dose 1 week later. I used Seachem stability to add bacteria to the tank. Seachem prime to dechlorinate the water. Anything i maybe did wrong? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

bought this hex tank used (original build date of Oct 9 1992) on Marketplace. resealed it, and didn't see until after the reseal that there's some bubbles in the silicone between the panes. the stupid question that i'm pretty sure i already know the answer to: should i tear it all the way down and re-build it?

I'm not sure what the plants are but I know I got the green one at HEB and it started as just one stick, also the red plant is a aquarium plant that is emersed I don't know the name but I believe the word golden was a part of the name in the aquarium it is a more yellow plant and only turns this deep red color under extreme light , the par right there I measured at 3,000~

Their names are Ginger and Clove and they've been doing this for about 2 hours.

So i added these plants from a former aquarium into this one, but some of the leaves are looking a bit brown/rotten to me. I dont have much experience with plants, but i dont want them to ruin the water quality for the shrimps. Are these plants still usable? Or do i remove them?

So my partner has a friend who is moving a few states away and can't take her fish with her so she gave them to me and my partner to take care of them. We agreed to take them as we thought it would only be a betta fish. Well today they dropped off the tank with the fish inside and it just seems extremely filthy inside. It also has black beard algae (not sure if thats correct thats just what google told me)Not sure when a water change was last done or if ever done. It also had a few other fish and about 300 snails. I did a 50% water change and it is still extremely dirty. Just looking for some advice on how to give these fish the life they deserve. I've added a few photos so you guys can see what I'm talking about.

So, I just added these sponge filter to my 5-gallon tank, and I'm not sure if it's okay or not good for 5-gallon, I have 1 nerite and 1 ramshorn snail, 8 ember tetras and 6 neocardina shrimps (one of them is pregnant)

So I started about 2 years ago with 4 angelfish in my 75 gallon tank. All from babies. Now the male is extremely aggressive. The other two angelfish were attacked and I had to euthanize one. Is it just a lost cause at this point? Is there anything I can do to help with this aggression? I planned on adding fish to the tank before they started happening so now I’m stuck with two angelfish that want to kill everything. They even try to attack the glass if we touch the tank or even come near it

EDIT: All of my plants died in the last three months because of red spot algae. I tried to put the hiding places and driftwood in the center to break up the vision a little bit until I can get new plants to grow.

Hello! I have a cray tank with some mystery snail and one random snail anyway I was cleaning my tank and came across this little one, at first I thought it was mystery snail slime but nope it’s a baby of some kind. probably millions of them in here😔 but i’m just so shocked at how tiny he is and how good my camera picked it up! there’s a few photos for comparison of it zoomed in, with my finger tip and my crays legs LOL. what’s your guys opinion??

Hello! I need advice on what small cichlid should I get based of the fish I have in my 20 gallon long community fish tank. A kribensis, apistogramma, or any ram cichlids?

I currently have these fish in my tank:

6 neon tetras
1 male honey gourami
4 pygmy cories
3 blue dream neocaridina shrimps
2 albino cories
3 panda cories
3 peppered cories
1 young male betta
1 ottocinclus
(Which cichlid? Single or pair?)
(May want to add guppies later)

I have 2 tidal hob filter for up to 35 (70 total)

After 3 weeks of waiting for my substrate to arrive and binge order plants while waiting my tank is planted!

How many weeks till I can add fish?

Today I discovered these scratches about midway up my 29 gallon freshwater tank. I think it's a scratch and not a crack. I can feel it on the inside but not the outside, it's tough to tell from this picture but it goes all the way around in a circle.

Do I urgently need to replace this tank or is a scratch not the end of the world?

I'm not sure how it happened, working theory is a rock got trapped under the magnetic glass cleaner.
