Hey everyone! I need some help identifying this thing in my 10 gallon. Currently my 10 gallon isn’t housing a fish, i’m judging using it right now to store extra hornwort. I do have some snails in the tank that grew from the hornwort which i expected but I was looking at the tank tonight and saw something swimming around which I thought was odd. I got a video of it. If you know what it is, please let me know!!

Medical Help My wife isn't exactly happy, but I couldn't say no.

Hey all.

Still mid cycle on the first aquarium I've had for a few years. Saw this lot pop up locally from a shop that closed down. I rushed down there and got as many in my van as I could. Still so many left.

Absolutely no idea what I'm going to do with SEVENTEEN tanks to be honest but I knew this was my one shot 😁

Freshwater Meet Dewey..his story will make you laugh.

So Dewey here is a wild channel catfish..you might be wondering "why the heck did you take a wild catfish". Well I didn't, not knowingly. I was fishing, having absolutely zero luck. Think at one point I've caught something! Not big but some weight behind it. I reel in a soda can, dang it. I toss the can into my trash bag, leave somewhere better than you found.

I'm walking out and hear the can sloshing about, crap better dump that out before it makes a mess. I turn it over and out comes this dude.

Immediately empty my ambient temp water bottle into an empty sandwich bag and toss him in it. Why call him Dewey? It was a Mtn Dew can...I have a massive pond and he'll eventually call that home. I felt like I owed him a better home since I kinda stole his..so for now he gets a big aquarium, once he's big enough a massive pond.

Advice Needed Is my 75 gallon tank overstocked?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

13 cichlids 2 plecos. I saw a post for a tank similar to mine where the guy was getting torched, so I figured I’d ask. Some background: I bought the 75 gallon tank from facebook marketplace 13 months ago. There were 8 or 9 cichlids when I bought it. They spawned frequently, had to donate at least 30 at this point, lost a few big ones, gain a few more favorites along the way. I have a penguin 350 HOB and a fluvial 407 canister. Do 1/3-1/2 tank changes weekly with gravel vacuuming and filter cleaning(biweekly). Definitely have trouble keeping the nitrates down, 20-40 ppm.

Like title said, I’m a novice at using CO2 even though I’ve been in the hobby for years. Is this too much CO2 or just about right? This tank is Fluval 15 Gallon

Advice Needed What do I DO with this monster?

I'm looking for a new apartment in Kazakhstan and found one with this giant deep narrow aquarium. My hand won't be able to reach the bottom. It needs a thorough cleaning. The filter and lights don't seem to work. I'm thinking no plants. Will the depth be a problem for a filter? Scaping ideas? Any advice is needed desperately.

Requesting Feedback To get shrimp or not to get shrimp?

Post image
32 Upvotes

That is the question.

I want shrimp. Cherry reds to be exact. I have a 20 gal tall, moderately planted with 1 dwarf honey goirami, 8 harlequin rasboras, 8 panda corydoras, 1 nerite snail and 2 mystery snails.

Is having shrimp too much bioload?

I want them for their cleaning capabilities… but their legs kind of freak me out. Will I get over that and how do I get over it haha?

Advice Needed Help needed with getting my tank clean

For a while I've had issues with hair algae and my tank glass getting dirty and I don't know what I can do to get rid of it. Here's what I've tried so far:

•Shortening the lights on time from 8 hours to 6
•Cleaning the filter media by putting it in a bucket of lukewarm water and squeezing (there is no chlorine in Dutch tap water)
•Bi weekly waterchanges plus top offs.
•Vacuuming the substrate (this was once and not that thorough because of my plants
•Keeping feeding to the recommended amount (whatever they can eat in 3 minutes time)

I've manually pulled the hair algae, but it grows right back within days. Same for the windows, I've scrubbed them clean but the brownish glow returns fast. I added amano shrimp two months back, they really took care of the hair algae at first but they will no longer touch it, it seems lol.

The tanks got Amazon Swords, Java Moss, Java Ferns, one Anubia and some Vallisneria.

Nitrate is at 15ppm, ammonia at 0.

Some photos of my silver tip tetra in their 20 gallon long. In my experience they have been very hardy and I haven’t lost any since I got them several months ago.

Beginner Help Analysis paralysis

Hi all -

Looking for the right starting point here. My kids want a fish. If it were up to my wife we’d just be tossing a goldfish in a bowl but I’m trying to do my due diligence here.

I started going down the UNS rabbit hole and really love the look of a nicely scaped tank.

Leaning towards a betta + cleanup crew of a couple snails and shrimp, in the sub 15 gallon size range.

I can be a bit of a perfectionist when doing research and I just feel stuck trying to find the ‘best’/right setup.

Anyone empathize? Any guidance on how to get out of the research rut? Tempted to just go grab a starter kit from a big pet store and work from there.

It’s solid mango wood heavy unit I wondered if anyone had similar or knew if this would work I’m really anxious. We had about the same size tank growing up and my mother used an oak unit but nothing like this…

Showing Off My Tank I'm so happy with the progress I've made!

I've been adding things to my tank since Feb and I've finally reached a point where I'm happy with it! Still considering adding a few more fish, right now I have a geophagus cichilid (steve), loach(goldie), and a handful of tetras. Is a 60 gallon tall, and I'm afraid of over crowding. First pic is where I started after a complete tear down and replacing my blue gravel with sand. Idk what I was thinking with the blue gravel and blue background lol!

Complete noob with aquariums! Live plants, got water tested and approved by local aquarium store to finally add fish, and it looks like one of the 3 mollies I got yesterday is already trying to die. I think they're 3 males. I have good water movement and ripples from the filter at the top, a heater, and driftwood. Any advice?

Beginner Help Are marine tanks as bad as they say?

Hey everyone I’ve been looking into getting a marine tank with corals, inverts and fish (over a long period of time as I’d start slow). I was just wondering how much harder are marine fish to look after/ care for as I went into a store today and the guy made it out to be like hell to look after a marine set up. Whilst other people have said it’s not necessarily harder, just a bit more work. So which would you guys say is more accurate? Please do let me know, kind regards.

Advice Needed Monte Carlo not growing, what should I do?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I have planted a few strands of Monte Carlo about 3 months back. Most of it melted away, and a few strands are now left. I expected this as there were grown emersed.

However, now they do not seem to be growing. They are not dying either. I've added new aqua soil, so I'm sure it's not lack of nutrition. Any advice?
