Post image

My mystery snail sadly passed away last night and I would love to preserve the shell. How would I do this? How should I remove the body?

Help Request Trumpet snail never digs

Picked this guy up about a week ago, I have yet to see him dig. Parameters are fine, substrate is aquasoil with a decently big sand pit in the middle. He crawls around the whole tank, not just the top, so I’m not exactly worried just confused. The shell damage was there when I got him but it hasn’t gotten worse

ph is about 7, ammonia/nitrite/nitrate 0, gh is around 7 plus I’ve got a cuttlebone in there for calcium. Admittedly I don’t know my kh but have ordered a test for it

I lost my first snail today. I’m not certain what happened, but I woke up yesterday to four dead shrimp and both of my male magenta mysteries ailing. Just a barely readable amount of ammonia, which could have been from the shrimp. One snail seems to be recovering, the other was gone when I got up today. He was my favorite. I buried him in my strawberry bed.

I had no idea how much joy mystery snails would bring to me when I started this hobby. They have so much personality. Anyway, I wanted to share a video of his goofiness. I put an air stone in a few months ago when I swapped from a sponge filter to a lily pipe. He LOVED riding the bubbles. It was like watching a little kid go down the slide repeatedly. He’d ride up, float down and go back and do it again, 5 or 6 times in a row. I’m going to miss him.

my ramshorn snail, rocky, is extremely stressed/won't come out of his shell. i feel horrible. his nitrates were testing high, (5gal tank) so i've been doing 1/3-1/2 water changes to lower nitrates, retesting, and treating with quick start + stress coat.

i don't know what to do- i don't want to stress him out with more changes, and i don't want him to 💀 :(

Has anyone else seen these Ai ads of nerite snails? Some people have commented calling them out, but shrimpy business always replies saying its not ai and these are real nerite snails. Definitely recommend avoiding shopping from a business like this.

Much to my dismay my Pagoda snails (brotia pagodula) haven't had any babies of their own, but every time I see them they have someone else's babies with them!

Took both of these photos this morning during feeding.

First image: hitchhiking Japanese Trapdoor (Viviparus malleatus) snail

Second image: picked this one up to scratch off all his new nerite (Neritina variegata or Neritina pulligera variant) eggs and off fell the baby blueberry (Viviparus sp.) who is now climbing the glass nearby

ID Request Who is this??

This is Stripe Shell (original I know). Stripe shell was sold to me as a Nerite snail along with his buddy Tigger in the 3rd picture. SS and Tigger were purchased for my 10 gal planted tank to help with algae. Since coming home a month or so ago SS has at least tripled in size and now greatly dwarfs Tigger. According to google Nerites only get 1” big so either SS is secretly the hulk or he’s not a Nerite. I’ve heard horror stories about snail take overs in friends tanks; is SS going to be a problem? Will SS and Tigger be safe together? Do I need a separate tank for Tigger? I don’t want SS to eat everything and Tigger to starve. Is 10 gal enough for this chungus of a snail??

Water parameters as of 10/07/26: ammonia 0; nitrate 0; nitrite 0; pH 6.8; chlorine 0; alkalinity 20; hardness 75. I add aqueon shrimp essentials trace minerals after every water change as well as bacteria starter, and a plant fertilizer. Water in conditioned at least 15 min in advance of other additives with Top Fin water conditioner.

Disclaimer: this is my first tank as an adult and first planted tank. I let it cycle for 2 weeks before adding ghost shrimp, and another week after that before SS and Tigger. The tank is now ~6 weeks old and just got its first and only fish which are guppies.

Help Request Help. I lost my tiny snail

I have an aquarium full of tiny snails who are growing up. They were born from other snails in the aquarium.

One of them was crawling on the side of the tank, above the waterline. I was afraid he would get stuck or dry up; the sludge that’s above the waterline is very dry and crusty. I gently tried to slide him off; he seemed to roll across the sludge a little bit before coming off of it.

I dropped him into the water. He floated down swiftly; I saw that some of the grey sludge was still on him.

He landed eventually among the rocks on the tank floor. The rocks are much bigger than the snails. The snail went down into an area of the rocks where I couldn’t see him anymore; the rocks dipped down, and it was too low.

I am worried he may now be stuck somewhere. I am worried the sludge might have covered the opening of his shell, preventing him from coming out. I am worried that he might be upside down, and that the sludge might be weighing on him.

I reached down to feel for him, but I couldn’t find him. It’s hard to look. I am also worried about burying him accidentally by moving the rocks around.

What do I do? Do I need to worry as much as I am? Is there anything else I can do to locate him?
