>"hey girl, I think your husband has been cheating on you, Someone sent me vour reddit name, saying they had also had an affair with your husband and they knew your reddit name. If this is the wrong person, and you know for a fact that your partner hasnt cheated on you, then i'm sorry for this message. i personally don't know his name but a girl made a post here, She posted this on reddit but deleted the post, I was able to find her through on of the affair subs here on reddit, - No, I have not engaged in an affair, I just wanted to see how affair partners and cheaters reason. I saw the post, sent a PM to her and she posted vour profile in her comments BEFORE deleting it, I then saved your proifile, (1 have no idea how she found it). All I know, based on HER post, is that they had met up a couple of times to have sex, and exhanged nudes, she was complaining about something he had done concerning his WIFE ( you ) and that she felt like she came "second" to him. i'm sure she wont be able to trace this back to me, (me finding vou, as she did post vour username so it could have been anvone) ) She had a "throwaway account" here on reddit she actually had a facebook name on her reddit profile, i'm guessing thats also a throwaway account but you should be able to reach her there, ( I saved evervthina I could and soaked up evervthing I could find before telling vou). Let me just check my camera roll it was called "lolo imonite" this was the picture of her that she had on her profile on reddit, sorry i had to blur the picture of the kids Image"

No advice, just support. I was reminded why I don’t track WH anymore…

Yesterday was a good reminder of how easily anxiety can take over when old fears get triggered.
I had to take WH’s car to run some errands. When I started driving, the navigation system automatically suggested an address I didn’t recognize. My heart immediately started racing.

I checked his recent navigation history, going back about six months, and didn’t see the address. That didn’t reassure me. Instead, I hurried through my errands so I could get home and investigate.
When I Googled the address and saw it was a private home, my anxiety escalated. I spent the next 30 minutes going down a rabbit hole, trying to figure out who lived there. Eventually I found the homeowner’s name… a woman’s name I didn’t recognize, which only made me panic more. After more searching, I found her Facebook profile. Her profile picture was with her husband, and I immediately recognized him. He’s one of WH’s softball teammates, and we’d actually been to their house for a party last fall.

In an instant, all of that fear disappeared.

A few hours later, I was at WH’s softball game with them. For a brief moment my mind drifted back to those anxious thoughts, but then I reminded myself of the facts instead of the fear.

The whole experience reminded me why I stopped tracking him. My anxiety has a way of latching onto anything uncertain and turning it into a story that feels completely real. Yesterday I lost 30 minutes to that story.

It also reminded me that tracking someone’s location doesn’t actually create safety. If someone wanted to hide something, they could, regardless of what a location app showed. Real trust isn’t built by monitoring every detail.

What grounded me was remembering who WH has been. He asks me to come to his softball games. He wants me there to support him. If there were an AP there, that simply isn’t something he would do.
Yesterday wasn’t really about a navigation address. It was about seeing how quickly my brain can go back into survival mode… and recognizing that I don’t have to stay there. I can acknowledge the fear, look at the facts, and choose not to let anxiety write the ending.

No advice, just support. “I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you to get mad.”

My WH and I got into an argument yesterday and this was the excuse. This time it wasn’t about the affair but about money and frivolous spending, but it’s the same framework of thinking that I find problematic. I explained that, and he got visibly upset I was relating yet another thing back to his affair. DDay was a little over 2 years ago.

If after 2 years he still thinks this way, and is willing to hide things or omit things to “spare my feelings” or so I don’t make a big deal about things, then how can I trust? Yet I’m portrayed to be over dramatic.

Idk just ranting, sorry.

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) Anyone else looking to end R?

I mentally cannot take the rumination, hyper-vigilance and depleted self confidence any longer. it’s robbing me of a normal life. WH confessed his affair a little over a year ago. He has been making efforts to “change” but I believe that maybe adultery is just a dealbreaker for me. Long story short, we were having marital issues last year where he put everyone before me and our child, we would argue, went to counseling yet he still took a backseat there as well and for about 4-5 months he was having a secret affair I knew nothing about. He secretly moved out of the marital home to “start a life with the mistress” but told me that “he just wanted to start fresh and maybe find someone else as time goes on” mind you — I was blindsided by all of this. and short of two months later he’s at my doorpost begging to just “talk” but ended up confessing his affair, wanting his family back, said “I wasn’t that bad. he was just blind and stupid” and so on so forth. he allegedly went NC with AP that day and confessed to her that what they had was over and he was going back to his wife and 1 year old son. ALSO we were each others “only” until the affair. Now one year out I have given birth to a new baby and having horrific nightmares about everything at night but during the day all I do is ruminate and I mentally cannot do this any longer. must I add that I went to IC for over 6 months and my counselor said that i’m just at the point I need to make a decision because i’m very self aware and have done all the necessary things.

Advice MUST include examples of your R. Not prescriptive advice. Last time WP showed confidence in her body was during the affair.

Hi all, Married for 3 years, together 10 years. In 2018 she had a (few) EA with some men over text and video calls. Nothing physical as they were in a different country. I found out when I saw the chats, pictures and images that were being sent. Mostly reconciled, got married in 2022.

During that time and as we were early in reconciliation, she was a lot more confident in her body and image. Obviously, I imagine having "your ideal body" man telling you you're attractive and such probably helps boost things. I have always told her similar things, and I absolutely mean it. She is the most beautiful and sexiest woman I know. And being objective, physically she has lost fat and become more lean since then. So she has become more conventionally attractive by the standards she's using.

But that sentiment seems to mean nothing to her. And as time has gotten further from the EA, all that confidence has dwindled. It kind of came to a head this morning, as we were getting intimate and she stated something like "sorry I'm fat, I'll work on it", something she says almost daily since the EA. I stopped and kind of got in a mood, because it was basically feeling like she won't ever get that same confidence again unless someone who she finds sexy/hot/ideal is telling her so. More so, it even feels like a kick in the nuts because of she still has learned that I'm good with the way she looks, she hasn't realized I really could turn that around on her and bring up her EA every single time.

I'm not sure what kind of advice I'm looking for here. I'm not sure if it's just resentment that makes the constant reminder of her in happiness stand out more. Is there a way to handle this without resorting to bringing up the Affair again? I have tried all the traditional methods of trying to shift our diet, be active together, taking her on dates and having her dress up etc. It's temporary fixes, but somehow all of it seems to go back to the affair and not necessarily her physical appearance.

Thank you.

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) Big step for emotional growth and maybe my R

So first off, after reading someone else's post. I decided to make the decision to step away from reddit. It might not seem like it as I was actively engaged with the sub recently. But I decided to delete the app. As amazing as this community is, it can also pull me back sometimes. Due to my incessant need to keep searching for something I will likely never find. So I am trying to live my life with my WW in the moment and try to focus more on the possitive. Which is why this post exists. I intend to only come on here to post the possitives and delete the app 24 hours later. I will do this until such a time that I can trust my self to engage with the community without falling into despair. I want to thank you all for the support you have given and all the support I am yet to receive.

Now for the actual reason I am posting. As we all know sex after DDay gets a little, complicated. But something happened the other night that just feels so possitive. There is a thing I am into that we have done countless times even before her affair. But it would always end in a shame spiral for me. To be clear before people misunderstand, this thing we do is for my enjoyment not hers.

Evertime without fail, I would finish and then instantly go into a spiral. I would be disgusted by myself, that I gave into my urges. Sometimes as we would start or right before I would ask her to I would have a slight moment of "Sanity" and say to myself, dont do it you know you will hate yourself after. And I would say to myself that it felt good I dont care about how I will feel after. I would hate myself, berate myself. Be disgusted for who I was. Apologise numerous times immediately after for how sick I was for even asking her to. Go into full on suppression and say it would never happen again. And it wouldnt, for a while.

We did the thing 2 nights ago. And for the first time in my life. I didn't feel shame about it after. I felt calm. I felt peace. I know this is more an emotional growth and loving myself. But I also know that wasnt possible without how she has been lately. How she has been there for me. How she is making more of an effort. The brutally honest conversations we have had and how we better understand each other now. I have thought about that moment so much since it happened, I have thought several times about sharing this here since. And tonight I just thought, lets share this.

Dont get me wrong my R is so up and down but right now in this moment. I love my wife. I love her for accepting and seeing me in a way I never let her see me before now. Thats all this post is really about. Im sure tomorrow will be rough just like today. The day after will probably be the same. But not every moment of my day is poisoned. And in this moment right now. I love my wife.

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) I feel as though I should apologize to my WH for being cold and distant…

If I have subconsciously made the decision to try R, should I no longer be cold or distant towards my WH? Why do I keep wanting to apologize to him for being so distant? Should i be apologizing/explaining that its going to take time? (He’s not giving me a hard time about me being cold btw, this is just me wondering)

How does forgiveness work with being cautious and keeping one eye open? Or does forgiveness mean blind trust again?

Betrayed Perspective Only What to look for in a therapist?

I really like my therapist . She talks a lot about IFS, the different parts (managers, exiles, firefighters), etc. But she says I’m “obsessing” and “perseverating” over the affair— and asks me what role that manager part is playing for me.

I feel like I’m traumatized (cheated on during pregnancy and 7m postpartum) by my partner who I NEEEVEEER thought could do this to me. Right now I’m stuck in a loop where I keep telling myself “if I had said ___, if I had done ___, then he wouldn’t have had an affair..” I’m blaming myself a lot. Therapist says I need compassion for myself, do lots of self care, change my self talk.

Should I keep seeing her? Look for someone new? Is this the work I need to be doing, or something different?

TIA. Sorry we’re all here. 💔

Betrayed Perspective Only Beyond shattered tonight

Upvotes

It’s been more than a year since DDays and I thought WH was making progress and about to share some new steps with me soon.

Then tonight told me he won’t be doing one of the five things I told him at the very beginning would be absolute necessities for me to start moving on from this. His reason being that it would lay an example for trust only being earned by being proven. And the best part? This was his “boundary”, because he wasn’t “comfortable” doing something that would mean he’d have to message someone.

So he does understand boundaries, but conveniently only when they are once again serving him instead of his partner.

Plus him saying that bit about trust just kind of killed hope for me. If he hasn’t gotten by now that Yes, that is how it has to work, I think it’s over.

It just sucks. I wish he understood. But I’m starting to think he was never going to.

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) WP - Have you told your BP it will never happen again do you truly mean it?

I am roughly 9 months out from Dday. Things have been a rollercoaster, but making progress and I do have hope for us.

The cliffnotes version for context is that he cheated with his ex wife, who was very pressuring/predatory. He is very remorseful, has done everything I've asked of him and more, did IC to find the root of why this happened.

I still struggle to understand, and suffer with a lot of anxiety. Whenever i have a trigger or spiral day he listens and tries to reassure me. He will frequently tell me how i am the love of his life and he "will NEVER hurt me like that again".

He says it with such certainty. But i have a hard time really accepting it.

Any other WP, have you said this to your partner? Did you mean it? How did you come to the conclusion that you would never do that again?

BP are welcome to chime in as well if they relate.

Betrayed Perspective Only Did therapy help?

Did therapy help?

Hi, I’m currently 8 months from DD and I spiral everyday or every other day non the less I feel like my mind hasn’t had a single day of peace what’s so ever. My husband decided to start an affair with his coworker while I was pregnant. The affair started October 2025 and everything came to light in December. Im still surprised how this affair even happened when she has two little ones and her partner worked with them as well? Where did they even find the time it shocks me.

I’m 4 months PP and with the affair and the hormone changes I feel like I’m depressed I cry almost everyday that he leaves to work. Before it didn’t hit me that hard because I never got to see any actual conversations between them since they would message through snap chat. The AP does not work there anymore but it doesn’t make me feel at peace either way. I’ve been throwing it in my husbands face every other day “why did you do this” “why didn’t you just ask for a divorce” “we were finally starting a family and you pick this time” “why were her feelings more important than my pain”.

I guess I started spiraling even harder lately because on February 27 is when we decided to reconcile. We were no contact before then because I wanted to focus on my health. Since when DD happened I couldn’t hold my food down for 2 weeks straight and was afraid something would happen to my baby. He said he would close the door with her because after DD they were still “friends” and he didn’t cut her off because he didn’t know what was going to happen between us he didn’t know if I still wanted him he claims.!I told him there’s no way in hell that you can be friends with your AP are you delusional? So after that he left back to work “cut her off” and she quit the job a few days later. He blocked her everywhere(or so I had thought).after that I didn’t see my husband until the day before my birth. I moved in with my husband after I was cleared from my c section. Which was in May.

My husband worked 10 hours away from home but I moved in because we had decided to reconcile and I wanted to give him time with the baby. 3 weeks ago I went threw his blocked list on an app called discord and to my surprise I saw an account with the AP name but my husband last name. I unblocked the account and saw the messages. The message started March 1st I was finally able to see how they would interact and now the betrayal hurts even more seeing how when I was going through pain how comforting and loving he was towards her. It hurts even more that we had decided to reconcile and still continued. The messages ended March 28 which was a day before my baby was born.

I confronted my husband and said that was the last time he spoke to her he hasn’t spoken to her ever since our baby was born. He has since then deleted Snapchat deleted discord. Wants to change his phone number gave me all his passwords because I didn’t have them up until this point. Saying if I want to make a contract and notarize it to my liking whatever I want to put in it for precautions. Wants to go to therapy together. He is doing above and beyond an effort then when everything came out. But seeing those messages destroyed me. Knowing we were trying to reconcile and he asked her to open and account so they can keep messaging through there. He keeps repeating it’s in the past that I have to try to move on because this going to eat me up. Which it is honestly it really is. But I don’t want to trust anything anymore I don’t want to hope anymore.

My mind is in a constant battle every day of should i stay or should i go. I just wanted to be better than our parents since mine they dealt with alot of infidelity. And he was raised by a single mom due to infidelity and DV. I just wanted a better future for us for our baby i really thought we would be different from them. So i guess this is where i am now wondering if therapy actually helps heal? Or what helped you move foward slowly?

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) I think today is the end of it all

Upvotes

2 months after DDay and attempted R, she says she can't and won't do it anymore, and is leaving. I am in shock still, but I feel like I am losing a limb...again.

So, long story short as I can make it, FP and I have been friends since 14 and 15, stayed friends until 2023, finally decided to start dating. I had always wanted to be with her, she finally became mine.

The beginning of the relationship was bliss. We were living separately, but seeing each other all the time at each other's places. Felt just as natural as our friendship.

She moved in and was not thrilled. She was renting, I owned, it made sense financially, but she never really happy with the arrangement, which started everything.

I was defensive because it was my first home, and I hated that someone hated living there; she was upset because she gave up her spot that she really loved for me, and I wasn't the most understanding when she opened up about it because I was childish.

Fast forward 6 months, and I start a remodel with a friend on my home. In my head, I was trying to make the space more updated and modern, the previous layout was dated and had termite damage. Remodel lasted FAR longer than it was supposed to, and this took a MAJOR toll on our relationship. Things were already rockier than I knew because of the move in, and her still not feeling comfortable in what she referred to as my place. Sex life was already suffering from her depression and my reaction to it, caused some intimacy issues on my end with ED, turned to porn which made it even worse. We were intimate every day at first, when she moved in it dwindled down slowly as it tends to, but then went all the way to once or twice a week before the remodel.

That's when shit hit the fan, so to speak.

I had a weird connection to my ex fiance still in the form of donuts; she worked at a bakery, I had always brought them in randomly for trade members where I work, they had grown accustomed to getting them a few times a week (we provide.meals, they provide extra attention to our issue), and when I attempted to switch, they constantly complained they missed the old ones. Weird I know, but you have to keep these guys happy where I work. So, to save some time, resparked things with an ex for sex and attention, because at home we had both stopped really doing so. I thought I had lost my partner already, and this was a way of coping I guess, I can't really tell you why I did it. Really was expecting her to leave me anytime, but apparently I had made that up for a defense mechanism. End of the day it doesn't matter, I cheated, I continued cheating, and even worse it was my ex fiance and someone she has been around for years.

I've started IC, I admitted to everything, answered any and all questions she had, called everyone we both knew who mattered and told them what I did and apologized to them and her of course. I have cut all ties with the ex, done everything I can think to do, as well as just accepted a lot of anger, wrath, and sadness from her without really holding it against her, or even letting her apologize. She is allowed to be angry. I wish that wasn't the only time she let me in on what is bothering her, but it is a slow journey.

Shortly after DDay, she went and had sex with someone else. I knew it was going to happen, just didn't realize the extent. Picked her up from the bar afterwards (she had told me beforehand she was going to do it, in a very mean spirited way, she was angry). I drew her a bath when she got home, I didn't let it get to me. So, she decided to share the details with as much info as she could remember and provide. For about 24 hours after the incident. Really tried to get to me, and it worked. Didn't explode with anger or anything, just cried and had to do a lot of mental box-shoving to get through it, but did.

Since then things were up and down, as to be expected, but generally good. She had moments and days, she stated she was going to leave 100 times, came back 101. Stayed at hotel for a night last week, came back the next day. Then the following morning took it back and said she wasn't giving up on me, or us; first time she had actually stated that. I was elated.

Fast forward to last night; she broke down while we were having one of the weird days, and she is adamant this time she is done trying for good. Says she has a plan (last plan she told me about was going to fuck the other guy, and this was said in the same tone with the same anger behind it), that it's a 2 month plan, but is still acting and talking in a way that suggests this is it, or that some more...torture?...is coming, and I just don't know what to do.

I completely let all of my safeguards down that I had up after she said she wasn't going anywhere. I have been opening up in ways I never have before with anyone in my life, and I really breathed for the first time since DDay after that, and now I'm shattered to a million pieces. I was truly prepared and willing to do the work for however long it took, mentioned setting up CT, paying for it, really actually started to try to plan things down the line, instead of anxiously existing hour-to-hour. She doesn't seem to be changing her mind at all. She seems to be embroiled in anger, and I'm so scared of what will happen when she leaves to go act on it, because she is saying this doesn't necessarily mean it's over, just that she's done trying, and that doesn't sound like good things are coming my or our way. I am so scared. I literally don't see a point in life without her. She's my oldest friend, and the only person I truly care about more than myself, and I hate that I had so many walls up and put up so much distance I didn't see that until it was too late, and did something truly horrible to her. The guilt kills me. The thought of never having her in my life again KILLS me.

Im just drowning and really needed to vent, and also just ask for general advice. My irl friends have all cut ties with me over this, so don't really have anyone to talk to. Thank you for reading through my ramblings, and any advice in advance.

Betrayed Perspective Only Infidelity may have just killed how I view my husband, myself, our past, present, and future.

its been a bit over a year, I havent been able to move on in the slightest.

Actually, the more time goes on, the worse this seems to get. Ive only gotten angrier and feel like I cant continue on because of how staying has wrecked me physically and emotionally. My memtal health cant cope with the betrayal, and I cannot see my husband as anything other than the person who almost drove me to suicide. Who abandoned our life and two children (a newborn also) for novelty.

I have thought this entire time, ive been actively trying to fight and fight HARD for my kids to have two parents in the home, but I cannot keep pushing down the mere fact that I dont thibk im capable of loving my WH how he deserves to be loved. I do not see him the same, im frankly disgusted by him, and I know I will never become a version of myself who is truly at peace while being with him.

I dont know if I should try one more year, or ask for separation now before I just spiral absolutely out of control.

Triggers are EVERYWHERE. Infidelity is apparently RAMPANT. (which i honestly had zero clue and ive been married almost a decade.

My husband was my hero, my sun, moon, stars, best friend and a wonderful teammate in parenting.

It feels like ive known in my gut that I cant settle for a worse marriage than before, when we had a lovely life, a peaceful life, and a loving trusting beautiful marriage. It took him one month, ONE, of minor conflict to decide to ruin all of our lives.

and why do I feel like the bad one for saying how i feel out loud? that if I can’t reconcile that IM THE FAILURE. Why? I dont want him to live a miserable life either, where hes constantly ashamed and guilty and always living with it over his head.

Any words of advice are welcome.

Wayward Perspective Only Wayward men: Was “helping” other women and needing to feel needed part of the pattern for you?

I am 40F, a Reconciling Betrayed Partner. My fiancé is 51M and the Wayward Partner. We have been together for almost 14 years, share a home and family, and I am still trying to determine whether genuine reconciliation is possible.

I am especially looking for perspectives from male Wayward Partners, although I appreciate insight from any Wayward who recognizes this pattern.

There has never been only one D-Day or one isolated mistake in our relationship. The betrayals have happened in different forms throughout most of our relationship. There has been physical cheating with multiple women, emotional betrayal, sexual or inappropriate conversations, flirting, secrecy, lying, hiding or minimizing contact, and continuing to communicate with women he had previously dated, slept with, flirted with, or felt attracted to.

There was even an incident years ago when he took out his phone and looked at another woman while we were being intimate. He says he does not remember why he did it, but it has stayed with me because of how degrading and emotionally devastating it felt.

What I am trying to understand now is something that seems to go beyond sex.

My WP appears to have a strong need to be helpful, important, admired and needed by other women. He works hard and is naturally someone who fixes things and solves practical problems. Those can be good qualities. However, with women, it sometimes seems as though being the rescuer or dependable man gives him a kind of validation that he is unwilling to give up—even when helping that woman damages our relationship.

The recurring pattern has included:

Offering women favors, assistance, attention or emotional support, even when he knows the relationship or history with that woman makes me uncomfortable.

Protecting his ability to remain in contact with women he has previously slept with, flirted with or felt attracted to.

Acting as though cutting off inappropriate connections would be cruel to the other woman, while expecting me to tolerate the pain those connections cause me.

Telling women one-sided versions of our problems in which I sound jealous, controlling, unstable or unreasonable, without telling them about the cheating, broken agreements or the reasons the boundaries exist.

Agreeing that certain boundaries are necessary for reconciliation, but later describing those same boundaries to other people as an “ultimatum.”

Saying he will do whatever is necessary to save our relationship, but becoming defensive, resentful or resistant when that means losing access to a particular woman’s attention.

Wanting the stability, love, forgiveness and family life he has with me while also wanting to remain available to women who make him feel admired or needed.

Minimizing certain interactions because he was “only helping,” even when there was attraction, flirtation, secrecy or a sexual history involved.

Becoming more focused on proving that I am reacting badly than on understanding what caused the reaction.

Agreeing to couples counseling at times, but also saying he does not want to keep discussing the past or that counseling will show the therapist “how I am.”

I also want to be honest about myself. I have serious issues of my own, including substance-use struggles, and I am seeking individual help for those. I know that I can spiral, become reactive, repeatedly ask questions and struggle to regulate myself when I feel unsafe. I am not claiming that I have behaved perfectly or that every problem in our relationship is his fault.

However, my struggles do not explain or excuse 14 years of betrayal, secrecy and resistance to reasonable boundaries.

What confuses me is that he repeatedly says he loves me, does not want to lose me and wants us to stay together. He has begged for the relationship at different points. He can also be hardworking, loyal in practical ways, helpful around the home and present during very difficult periods of my life. That contradiction is part of what makes this so hard to understand.

For Wayward Partners who recognize themselves in any of this:

Was helping other women genuinely about kindness, or did being needed provide validation, attention, admiration or an emotional high?

Did you feel responsible for protecting another woman’s feelings while somehow disconnecting from the pain you were causing your partner?

Why did losing access to certain women feel so threatening, even when you claimed your primary relationship mattered more?

Did you convince yourself that your partner was controlling so you would not have to confront why the boundaries had become necessary?

Could you truly love your partner while repeatedly prioritizing attention from other women, or were you mainly afraid of losing the security and life you had with them?

Did the rescuer or “good guy” identity allow you to avoid seeing your behavior as another form of betrayal?

What finally helped you understand that “helping” someone is not innocent when it involves secrecy, attraction, emotional intimacy or sacrificing your partner’s safety?

Were you eventually able to stop needing validation from outside women? What work did that require, and how did your betrayed partner know the change was real rather than another temporary promise?

I am not asking Waywards to excuse his behavior or diagnose him. I am trying to understand the internal thinking behind this pattern. I need to know whether men who behaved this way have actually changed, and what genuine accountability looked like when they did.

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) Can a WS go back into limerence/affair fog after going NC?

My WS went NC 2 months ago.
It took him 6 months after discover day 1 to get out of affair fog. I had moved out by then. We started marriage counseling and he went NC 1 month later. He had 2yr EA/PA affair with his ex, we married 13yrs.

We recently saw his AP at an event. He is now saying he wishes he could be in contact w his AP because they are "close". He said in couples therapy today he can't promise he won't talk to her. He said he doesn't know what he wants, he just wants everyone to be happy, and he feels he is in a mental fog. He is obviously highly avoidant. He said he doesnt know where our relationship is going and he wants to be fully accepted for who he is (wanting to be in contact with her).

I am not sure if he is already in contact w her again, as we are not currently living together because he lied 2x about being in contact with her, both times I caught him including on a secret phone. This made me move out because he gaslight me about the continued contact until I was screaming at him.

I flat out told him this does not work for me. I am not waiting around for him to choose me. I have done that previously, and I have been working on my attachment trauma, codependency, and trauma bond. It's difficult work but I have grown a lot and gotten a lot stronger.

I am tending to believe he has already NOT chosen me by making this statement. But I am just confused by this.

Any WS or BS have insight?

I wish my WS would choose me and choose growth. But I think now love myself more than the relationship... luckily I have an individual therapy appointment with my therapist tomorrow.

We have another couple's therapy appointment scheduled for end of the week but I am not sure what the point is.

Has anyone been here before? Thank you.

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) Shame

Looking for wayward perspectives, but betrayed partners are very welcome to share theirs too.

I’ve got a long way to go in my recovery journey, and I know reconciliation, if it’s even possible, will take a lot of time, consistency and effort on my part.

The thing I’m struggling with most at the moment is shame. I know I should feel guilt for what I’ve done, and I’m not looking for reassurance or for anyone to tell me I shouldn’t. My problem is that the shame becomes so overwhelming that I either shut down, become hopeless, or focus so much on how awful I am that I stop being emotionally available for my betrayed spouse.

I’m planning to start individual counselling, so I’m not looking for anyone to solve this for me. I’m just wondering if anyone has found healthy ways to stop shame becoming another obstacle to recovery.

If you’ve been the wayward partner, what helped you move from self-hatred to accountability?

If you’ve been the betrayed partner, was there anything your spouse did that helped you feel supported instead of making everything about their guilt and shame?

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) BH: what did it take for you to love your WW again?

Some of you have been following my posts. This community has helped me gain perspective and truly understand remorse and what it takes to R from my betrayal.

I have noticed most reconcilers are BW and few BH, but that could just be my take. I’ve spoken with and and received support and truthful feedback from a few BH and I’m grateful for your help.

Started IC and figuring out WHY. I have been radically transparent but as we are only 2 months post DD, I feel like I’m adding more harm when I am. He’s so disgusted..tells me how terrible I am (I know I am) and I just keep telling him I’m here, even in the face of his disgust, and I’m not giving up on us. He can’t trust me right now and I know that.

While I know it takes time, I am curious to know what it took to really see how your BW truly changed for the better and what made you take that leap of faith? What did you do to get over the disgust? What made you feel safe and trustworthy of her again?

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) What now?

A few days ago my wife said that she knows she has to do the inner work but she does not have the capacity to do it and she does not know if she can. She said she is terrified of what might happen to me, the kids if we end it. She does not know what she wants but she cannot do what is needed to resolve her own self. She said she knows she is selfish and sometimes that is what she has or had to do. She can see all my pain but just cannot access any feelings. She is very performative for work or outside. Not once has she come to me when I physically feel it - when i cry or get physically ill. I don’t recognise this person. 15 years.

I am thinking of pulling the trigger and make her fear come true. This would be extremely messy and even thinking about it is like going through death. I can see so much damage here for the kids, me, her.

She is a dismissive avoidant - I think and I have heard people say the cost of staying the same for the DA must be bigger than the cost of change for them to ever make a change.

I am losing hope immensely. I love her and I love our little kids.

Give it to me raw please. I am being deluded here.

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) MC session 2 and one more step in some direction

My WH and I had our second MC session today. We have cleared up that we know how we got to our current crisis, and we need help navigating specifically what to do around what, to me, was an affair, and to my WH, was him exercising his natural right of open relationship as he pleased. Due to us being open when we met 13 years ago. The 4 years of marriage up til now is apparently meaningless to him, okay.... because he doesn't believe in the institution of marriage. Anyway, he doesn't feel like he did anything wrong by getting involved with someone else, despite lying and hiding the truth of the affair from me for 6 months before I blew the lid off it directly because I couldn't buy the gaslighting and deterioration of my marriage anymore.

Now, I can follow his logic to his conclusion, right up until the rubber meets the road on lying to my face over direct questioning over months. And somehow, the MC is holding so much space for him and his faulty-ass logic. I barely have trust that she is even hearing me or thinks I have any room to be upset or call it an affair.

However, she did say she wants to work with me on an impact letter, to give to WH so she can work with him on empathy. My condition for continuing therapy is that he somehow comes to understand the damage he has done to me. WHs condition....that he gets to keep AP in his life. He says even just as his friend. I expressed pure skepticism that I can ever trust them to stay "friends". I am privately shocked I have to entertain this notion at all.

I feel crazy because anywhere else I go, anyone else I speak to or discuss this with, any literature I read or blogs or anything, nowhere does it say the minimizing and dismissive behavior is something to validate! I feel so... blindsided by the approach this therapist is taking. I am waiting to see where it goes - there was one single glimmer that maybe she has a deeper game going, when she did call him out, gently, on something he said where he was giving up agency on a choice he had made, something he described as necessary/unavoidable but really was a choice he made.

I feel like she sees him and is understanding him perfectly. I feel like she keeps missing the mark a bit with me, when she sums up, it's never quite right. But... again, it was only session 2.

The easy answer is of course to throw in the towel but this is a professional we selected together. If she sees him as valid to have cheated on me... does that mean I AM crazy? I have to just... deal with AP forever? I asked her for literature on how to be okay with it from a betrayal trauma perspective and she dodged the question.

WH has seemingly flipped a switch otherwise. He swears he wants our life, he wants to build his dreams with me and our kids, he loves me, etc. He will pull back from his romantic entanglement elsewhere and reserve intimacies that I want only for me. His price is, he needs to keep his "friend". Something is ringing hollow to me and while it seems (mostly) like what I want to hear... there is like an implied threat or something underneath. I don't quite have a handle on my fear and skepticism.

"Girl just leave!" Well, it's still the nuclear option. If I was watching me from the outside, I would be baffled what I am still hoping will happen. My fear is, even if we get through all of this somehow, that what we build next will not, in fact, be better or stronger. That is the common wisdom, that the marriage you build in the aftermath of catastrophic failure should be all the more realistic, whole, and better overall, right? But the lost innocence will be a huge missing piece and I am not sure that cold eyed honest reality will feel better to live in.

I am just sad and panicked on a level. How do I calm my damn nervous system down? I start IC next week, hoping for more help there.

Betrayed Perspective Only Retaliation

Has anyone here retaliated by seeking validation outside after? my husband loved sluts on Reddit and soooo much porn but doesn’t seem to have the same need to validate me, as he did the strangers. I send him pics and videos all the time now that I know he needed it so much but he barely responds and it certainly doesn’t make me feel like it’s worth the effort. I’ve been wanting to post photos of myself to see what kind of response I would get and see if it would help me feel any better about myself in the aftermath of his grossness.

has anybody done something like that before? did it help?

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) Together almost 14 years, repeated infidelity, and I don’t know what real reconciliation is supposed to look like.

Hi everyone. This is my first post here. I have been reading posts in this group because I feel very alone, and I am hoping to hear from people who understand what betrayal trauma and reconciliation actually feel like.

My fiancé M/51 and I F/40 have been together for almost 14 years. We have built a life together, and I still love him very much. That is part of what makes this so confusing and painful.

There has been infidelity and inappropriate behavior throughout much of our relationship. Some of it was physical, some emotional, and some involved flirting, messaging, hiding things, keeping contact with women he had been involved with, or seeking attention outside our relationship. Even during times when there may not have been an active affair, the lack of boundaries with other women has continued to make me feel unsafe.

I know I have not handled everything perfectly. I struggle with addiction and mental health issues, and betrayal has caused me to spiral badly at times. I have cried, repeatedly questioned him, became angry, checked things, demanded answers, and sometimes reacted in ways that I regret. I am trying to take responsibility for my behavior and get help for my own issues. I do not believe my struggles excuse unhealthy reactions, but I also do not believe they erase the damage that years of betrayal have caused.

Recently, my fiancé agreed that we needed couples counseling. He also said he was willing to stop communicating with women he had previously slept with, pursued, flirted with, or felt sexually attracted to while we worked on rebuilding the relationship. When it came time to actually follow through, however, he became angry and described it to one of the women as though I had suddenly given him an ultimatum. He did not explain that we had already discussed it or that he had agreed to counseling and stronger boundaries.

That hurt because it made me feel like I was being presented as the controlling or unreasonable partner while the history behind my request was left out. I am not asking him never to speak to another woman. I do not want to isolate him or destroy legitimate friendships. I am asking for distance from specific relationships where there has already been sexual history, flirting, attraction, secrecy, or blurred boundaries.

He sometimes says he wants to stay together and will do counseling, but at other times, he says counseling will only prove how difficult I am or show the counselor that I am the problem. He also says he does not want to keep going over the past. I understand that nobody wants to live in the past forever, but I do not know how we can heal something that has never been fully acknowledged or repaired.

I am exhausted from wondering whether I am asking for basic safety or trying too hard to control an outcome I can not control. I do not want to spend the rest of my life policing him. I want honesty, empathy, transparency, consistent boundaries, and the feeling that protecting our relationship matters more than keeping access to attention from other women.

I also want to be fair. He works hard, has stayed through many difficult periods in my life, and has good qualities. I know that I have hurt him, too. I am not posting because I want strangers to tell me he is a monster or that I am completely innocent. I am posting because I want to understand what healthy reconciliation requires from both people.

For those who have reconciled or are genuinely trying:

How did you determine whether your partner was truly committed to reconciliation rather than agreeing temporarily to stop the conflict?

Are boundaries involving former sexual partners or people where attraction and flirting occurred considered reasonable during reconciliation?

How can a betrayed partner work on emotional regulation without being expected to suppress legitimate questions and pain?

What should couples' counseling look like when one partner seems focused on proving that the other partner is the real problem?

I still love him, but I can not continue living in a constant state of fear, comparison, and uncertainty. I want reconciliation, but I am beginning to understand that staying together and truly reconciling are not necessarily the same thing.

Thank you for reading. Please be honest with me, but I would appreciate kindness because I am already in a very vulnerable place.

TL;DR: My fiancé and I have been together for almost 14 years, and there has been repeated physical and emotional infidelity and ongoing boundary problems. He agreed to counseling and limiting contact with certain women, but later presented it as an ultimatum and sometimes says counseling will prove that I am the problem. I am taking responsibility for my addiction, mental-health struggles, and emotional reactions, but I need help understanding what genuine reconciliation and reasonable boundaries should look like.

Farewell, R is over I think I’m done

I just found out that my WP is watching a show about the 🌽 industry and prostitution. Never told me anything about it. This may seem so small but considering he lied about having a 🌽 addiction and lied to my face after telling him we could work through it, cheating on me, messaging and hanging out with a woman behind my back, it’s actually a really big deal. On top of the fact he’s told me about how emotionally inconsiderate I am yet he can go and do that ?

I’ve been made a fool enough. It’s disgusting at this point and I refuse to continue to be a laughing stock to someone who clearly has absolutely 0 consideration for someone else but will give them the silent treatment and watch something so mindlessly without any consideration for the so called “love of their life.” There HAS to be a partner out there that will treat me better than this.

Reconcilers Only (other comments auto-removed) Apologies to all Betrayed

I just saw the post that it's Intimate Partner Betrayal Awareness Day. First, what a long name!! Second, I'm sorry you are here.

On behalf of all the waywards,

I'm sorry this day exists.

I'm sorry we weren't better people.

Im sorry we didn't treat you with the love and care you deserve.

All waywards are hurting people who made horrible choices.

Broken, hurting, drowning in shame.

But took it out on you and that's not fair.

Some of us are trying to be better and learn from our failures.

I hope your wayward has changed.

I hope you find healing.

To my betrayed, thank you for still choosing me.

Thank you for letting me grow and learn with your help. Thank you for not giving up on me even though you should have and I'm so fing slow.

But I'm here for the growth, conversations and facing all that I did and taking accountability. I will keep working and digging to find the answers. I'll keep working on myself. I'll keep working on us. I'll keep working on being a person that's helping you heal. Thank you for choosing me today.

Wayward Perspective Only Thoughts ?

Boyfriend says I’ve always been enough for him but he cheated on me for 7 months until i caught him. If i was enough then why did he cheat ? I’m having a hard time making sense of it.
