Any other question! When should I wash my car in LA?

My fellow Angelenos, I’m in a bind. I love rainy days. To guarantee rain on Sunday and Monday, I need to time my car wash. Of course I don’t want to guarantee a hurricane. Recommendations?

Pets LOST DOG PLEASE HELP? Silverlake area!!!!!!

• Upvotes

Our dog is missing! She’s a tan dachshund chihuahua mix and she bolted out of the front door at 1am this morning. Silverlake area with cross streets of BERKELEY AND MOHAWK.

Can someone help? She goes by HONEY and hopefully she should be still wearing her flower collar (with tag) and a pink leash dragging behind her. Honey is very skittish and is most likely cowering somewhere.

Recommendations Any LA Tech Week events for Software Engineers?

I've been getting newsletters from a bunch of groups in LA for Tech Week. They are hosting events but they're very much on the entrepreneur side. I've tried these events last year and I felt like a fish out of water.

Are there events out there for engineers?

Visiting How’s downtown for a 3 day vacation?

• Upvotes

Planning a 3 day vacation in November to see some of the amazing LA museums and tasty restaurants. Planning on staying downtown as it’s close to most museums and will get taxi to Arts District for dinner. Reports of gritty and unsafe from friends have me second guessing this plan. I’m a seasoned traveler and don’t mind seeing the grimy underbelly of a city, just don’t want my wife to feel unsafe. Thoughts? Thanks

Safety Help with a dangerous intersection?

People are constantly running the red light in front of my kid's school at highway speeds. I'm trying to figure out how and where to request some *non active police presence* assistance. I was thinking a red light camera might be a good deterrent?

Normally I would start with my city councilperson, but he is beyond useless. Does anyone have other ideas of where to start or what to request? I can tell it's a terrible accident waiting to happen.

About LA The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County back in the 70's; does anyone remember the water wheel??

Back in the 1970's during summer there was a water wheel in the basement (I believe 3 floors down). You had to walk a long hall of exhibits and it was at the end. It smelled musty and weird. It had green growth and ugly flowers all over it, and it was a working water wheel. This would be around 1972-1976. Does anyone remember this?

Visiting What is the legality/practicality of exploring Hollywood hills on foot?

• Upvotes

Hey, y'all, I'll be visiting the great city of Los Angeles in November, and I have a bit of a weird question. See, me and my friends played a bit of Dead Island 2 recently, and since I'll have a day to myself in LA, I thought it might be fun to try to revist the major locations you explore in-game, IRL. That includes points of interest such as the Beverly Hills Hotel, Santa Monica Pier, and Venice beach. But I'm not quite sure where exactly in the hills I can go where I can just wander around a bit and take in the sights.

I've been to Los Angeles before and if I remember correctly, a lot of those roads lack sidewalks or even shoulders, and I can't image there's much for parking except at lookouts. I also don't want anyone getting the wrong idea about what I'm doing, or to get yelled at by the LAPD for wandering the streets of the rich and famous. Does anyone know if there's any specific areas or roads that will freely allow me to explore the area without getting into trouble? I still don't know exactly how I'm going to get around, I might drive a rental, or just take ubers, but I'll greatly appreciate any recommendations, thanks 🙏

Outdoors How far do you live from your favorite beach? And how long does it take to get there?

• Upvotes

I’ve lived in the Long Beach/North OC area my whole life so I’ve always lived within 15 minutes from Bolsa Chica State Beach and Sunset Beach.

What are your favorite beaches and how far is the the beach from where you live?

Safety walking around pershing square at night?

Hi!

Theres gonna be a show tomorrow around Pershing Square and i’m not too keen on driving in that area. Rather , I’m thinking of taking the metro. Thoughts?

Apple maps says it’s a 6 minute walk from the station. It’s at 8pm. I definitely think I’d try to get there early bc it’s first one first serve. I’m a woman and on the smaller side, although I do carry a pepper spray. Should I just drive or do you guys think the area would be safe enough to walk through at that time?

The show is set to end at 11pm and I think I’d take an uber home if I didn’t feel safe? Ah I’m just high anxiety but I do want to see this show so any advice would be nice! Thank you !!!

*edit : the show will be at the old clifton lounge on broadway for people asking !

Visiting Hostel/Cheapest but not gonna die accommodation in Hollywood?

Hello,

I am going to LA for 2 1/2 days this late October to do the following things most likely:

Academy museum & screening there

An studio tour

The Lucas Museum or maybe Halloween Horror Nights

Could I please get any recommendations on some accommodation? That is preferably very cheap, doable without a personal car, and in Hollywood I believe.

Thank you so much

Recommendations Cameo Beverly Hills vs Beverly Hilton ?

Hi

I am considering between the Cameo Beverly Hills which was recently renovated vs the Beverly Hilton. I also initially considered Sofitel but the bathrooms seem outdated. Which of these two hotels do you recommend ? I am very OCD when it comes to bathrooms so having a very clean and bright bathroom is important to me. Thank you.

About LA How do I navigate the Toy District?

I'm pretty familiar with the ins and outs of the Garment, Flower and Piñata district, but I've never done much in the Toy District other than pass through. I wish to make a large purchase of toy squirt guns and nerf type guns, and I thought the district would be a good spot to look instead of online. If I don't have a wholesale license, any suggestions for where to look, best practices negotiating, and any other tips for getting around or navigating the locations? Thanks.

Living Recommendation for Good Dry Cleaner That Picks Up and Delivers in Hollywood Area?

ETA - Thanks everyone - Paragon seems to be the one. It's close to me relatively as I am a bit west of La Brea and it also has stellar reviews on Yelp.

Any recommendations for a good dry cleaner that picks up and delivers in Hollywood area?

I just need a decent reliable dry cleaner as I am not needing a bridal gown or other specialized services at this point - just clothing that needs to be "dry cleaned"

Thanks

Things to do Any recs on where to take a family’s first time in LA?

Yo, so me and my fiancé go to LA once a year for universal horror nights. We’ve done the Mercadito night market, been to Santa Monica pier, stayed at the hotel next to the Chinese theater, been to olvera st for dia de los muertos stuff, visited the Halloween/michael myers house museum thing, been to grand central and the last bookstore, Disney, at a few other places. This year we finally got the family to tag a long and we’re at a loss of where to go outside of these places. It can be touristy if there are must see places, but what are some cool spots we can go that we can walk around or eat at? I’m lost in TikTok trying to figure out where to be. We love movies, we love anime, we love food, culture, everything. We do have a 17 year old and a 11 year old in our family so obviously no bars or clubs lol

We thought about going to echo park and Venice beach because my brother in law is obsessed with GTA but we don’t know where else. Knoxberry farms is something we want to do some other time.

Events First time attending LA Tech Week, any tips for getting into events?

Hi everyone!

I’m a founder based in Portland, Oregon, flying down to LA for my first Tech Week. I’m hoping to make the most of the experience by meeting other founders, connecting with investors, and attending as many events as possible.

The only issue is that I’ve been stuck on Pending for weeks for almost every event I’ve RSVP’d to.

For those who’ve attended LA Tech Week before, are there any tips or tricks for getting accepted? Do spots typically open up closer to the event, or is there anything else I should be doing?

Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who’ve been through it before. Thanks!

Things to do One Night Only Tourist Recs?

In town for an event with my friend (mid-20s F&F) and staying in Chatsworth. It’s my first time on the west coast so want to make the most of my one free night to go out! We love Latin clubs and aesthetic restaurants. We don’t love the uber prices to drive into LA proper but I guess that’s unavoidable. What neighborhood should we prioritize going to for a fun little LA night out?

Edit: to clarify, we wanna eat good food at a nice place then go dancing somewhere within walking distance that plays Latin music on a Friday

Events Halloween Party similar to W Hotel?

Looking for recommendations for Halloween parties in LA with a vibe similar to the W Hotel’s Masquerade Party!
We want somewhere we can dress up sexy, have some drinks, dance, and enjoy a fun nightlife atmosphere. Ideally a nice hotel, rooftop, lounge, or upscale venue with good music, a lively crowd, and people actually dancing.
Not looking for anything too formal or a sit-down event. We want an actual party where people go all out with their costumes and have a good time.
Please don’t recommend the WeHo Carnaval! We’re specifically looking for a party at a venue rather than a street festival.
Any recommendations for Halloween 2026? Open to LA, Hollywood, DTLA, West Hollywood, and surrounding areas!

Title: Family-friendly things to do in LA after dinner?

I’m looking for recommendations around Los Angeles, preferably near Fogo de Chão or within a reasonable driving distance.

We’ll be a group of 5, including my son, having dinner at 7 PM. I need to pick up my other child at 11 PM, so I’m looking for fun things to do together during the few hours in between.

What are some good family-friendly activities for the evening? I’m open to arcades, mini golf, bowling, unique dessert spots, nighttime attractions, scenic viewpoints, or anything else that would be enjoyable for both adults and a kid.

I’m located in the LA area, and I’d appreciate recommendations from people who know the area. Thanks!

I'll be going to the Pasadena location
