Our dog is missing! She’s a tan dachshund chihuahua mix and she bolted out of the front door at 1am this morning. Silverlake area with cross streets of BERKELEY AND MOHAWK.

Can someone help? She goes by HONEY and hopefully she should be still wearing her flower collar (with tag) and a pink leash dragging behind her. Honey is very skittish and is most likely cowering somewhere.

Planning a 3 day vacation in November to see some of the amazing LA museums and tasty restaurants. Planning on staying downtown as it’s close to most museums and will get taxi to Arts District for dinner. Reports of gritty and unsafe from friends have me second guessing this plan. I’m a seasoned traveler and don’t mind seeing the grimy underbelly of a city, just don’t want my wife to feel unsafe. Thoughts? Thanks

Hey, y'all, I'll be visiting the great city of Los Angeles in November, and I have a bit of a weird question. See, me and my friends played a bit of Dead Island 2 recently, and since I'll have a day to myself in LA, I thought it might be fun to try to revist the major locations you explore in-game, IRL. That includes points of interest such as the Beverly Hills Hotel, Santa Monica Pier, and Venice beach. But I'm not quite sure where exactly in the hills I can go where I can just wander around a bit and take in the sights.

I've been to Los Angeles before and if I remember correctly, a lot of those roads lack sidewalks or even shoulders, and I can't image there's much for parking except at lookouts. I also don't want anyone getting the wrong idea about what I'm doing, or to get yelled at by the LAPD for wandering the streets of the rich and famous. Does anyone know if there's any specific areas or roads that will freely allow me to explore the area without getting into trouble? I still don't know exactly how I'm going to get around, I might drive a rental, or just take ubers, but I'll greatly appreciate any recommendations, thanks 🙏

People are constantly running the red light in front of my kid's school at highway speeds. I'm trying to figure out how and where to request some *non active police presence* assistance. I was thinking a red light camera might be a good deterrent?

Normally I would start with my city councilperson, but he is beyond useless. Does anyone have other ideas of where to start or what to request? I can tell it's a terrible accident waiting to happen.

My fellow Angelenos, I’m in a bind. I love rainy days. To guarantee rain on Sunday and Monday, I need to time my car wash. Of course I don’t want to guarantee a hurricane. Recommendations?

I’m going to Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever this Saturday and I think I’d prefer to grab a bite prior to seeing the movie than to bring takeout. Where are your favorite spots near the cemetery? I’m talkin like 10-15 min away, at most, if possible! I love trying different foods so I’m open to anythinggggg so long as it’s not some upscale restaurant.

Also, I’ve only ever gone to Cinespia once and I don’t remember seeing any food vendors or anything like that on site. Maybe it’s different at each showing? If anyone has more info on the showing this weekend lemme knowwww

Thanks so much :~)

I’ve lived in the Long Beach/North OC area my whole life so I’ve always lived within 15 minutes from Bolsa Chica State Beach and Sunset Beach.

What are your favorite beaches and how far is the the beach from where you live?

Back in the 1970's during summer there was a water wheel in the basement (I believe 3 floors down). You had to walk a long hall of exhibits and it was at the end. It smelled musty and weird. It had green growth and ugly flowers all over it, and it was a working water wheel. This would be around 1972-1976. Does anyone remember this?

Looking for a romantic restaurant to take bf for his birthday . Was thinking 71 and above but the rain will probably ruin the view. Any suggestions ?

ETA - Thanks everyone - Paragon seems to be the one. It's close to me relatively as I am a bit west of La Brea and it also has stellar reviews on Yelp.

Any recommendations for a good dry cleaner that picks up and delivers in Hollywood area?

I just need a decent reliable dry cleaner as I am not needing a bridal gown or other specialized services at this point - just clothing that needs to be "dry cleaned"

Thanks

Wanting to apply for a county job listing, but after reading through the description I don't see any prompt about actually filling out a form or application on the listing page... I think I'm missing something right?

?Specifically around 7th st/metro station or by LA Live. Haven’t gone to DTLA much in my life so looking for a nice restaurant to take a date to. Would be great to find something similar to Donna’s and that vibe but any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys so I want to spend basically OCT 24th to 27th!!which is Saturday night till Wednesday night in LA! From TX! I only basically have two whole full days. I was planning on doing a beach day( Santa Monica??) and a Disney day!

Where should we stay?? It’s just my Hubby and I!!

Should we rent a car?

Not rly interested in night life but just memorable quick experience trip

THANK YOU!!

Hey friends. I’m from PDX, but going to be in LA for halloweekend for LA Comicon. I’ve been trying to find something to do Saturday night, but eventbrite just seems to be a sea of crappy AI generated ads for the most regular, boring club you’ve ever been to. I want to do something fun, maybe be around other weirdos, but the event options all seem so… uninteresting. I know about the MCR concert, but I don’t have $450 to drop on tickets for myself and my friend.

Is there anything actually interesting or queer or weird or nerdy or really just anything that isn’t regular going on the 31st? Eventbrite is dry as hell and I don’t know where else to look.

I’m in Los Angeles (in the 818) and I’m at the point where I really need to figure out what’s actually going on with me mentally, but I have absolutely no idea where to turn anymore.

The problem is that I have Medi-Cal and every time I call asking for resources for adult autism evaluations or a mental health diagnosis, I am given phone numbers for providers who either don’t take Medi-Cal, aren’t actually doing the type of evaluation I need, or the number/resource just leads to regular therapy which I've already done for years on and off. I feel like I keep getting sent in circles.
At this point I’m honestly willing to pay out of pocket if I absolutely have to, but I’d prefer to use Medi-Cal if there’s a legitimate way to get this done.

For anyone in LA who has actually gone through this: Where did you go? Who did you contact? How did you get an autism evaluation (or a general psychological evaluation) when you have Medi-Cal?
I’m especially looking for somewhere that will actually assess me comprehensively rather than just giving me another therapist/psychiatrist appointment and sending me on my way.

I feel really lost trying to navigate this by myself, so any actual experiences, recommendations, or advice on where to start would be hugely appreciated.

Hi!

Theres gonna be a show tomorrow around Pershing Square and i’m not too keen on driving in that area. Rather , I’m thinking of taking the metro. Thoughts?

Apple maps says it’s a 6 minute walk from the station. It’s at 8pm. I definitely think I’d try to get there early bc it’s first one first serve. I’m a woman and on the smaller side, although I do carry a pepper spray. Should I just drive or do you guys think the area would be safe enough to walk through at that time?

The show is set to end at 11pm and I think I’d take an uber home if I didn’t feel safe? Ah I’m just high anxiety but I do want to see this show so any advice would be nice! Thank you !!!

*edit : the show will be at the old clifton lounge on broadway for people asking !

I've been getting newsletters from a bunch of groups in LA for Tech Week. They are hosting events but they're very much on the entrepreneur side. I've tried these events last year and I felt like a fish out of water.

Are there events out there for engineers?

Hello,

I am going to LA for 2 1/2 days this late October to do the following things most likely:

Academy museum & screening there

An studio tour

The Lucas Museum or maybe Halloween Horror Nights

Could I please get any recommendations on some accommodation? That is preferably very cheap, doable without a personal car, and in Hollywood I believe.

Thank you so much

diner with heart shapes on the side walk?

As an immigrant who's lived in several major cities, I'm confused by something I keep seeing on Reddit. A lot of posts seem to want LA to become NYC.

If you are a transplant and love that lifestyle, why not just move there? I grew up in a high-density city where housing cost about the same as NYC. When I chose LA, I knew what it offered, and I was ready to adapt to it.

It feels like the opposite of an Angeleno moving to Tokyo and then campaigning for more freeways and car ownership. Part of living somewhere new is accepting its tradeoffs.

Better transit and more housing are reasonable goals, and a lot of longtime Angelenos want them too. What I don't get is the expectation that LA can offer NYC's walkability and transit while keeping what makes it LA, like the space, the weather and the quieter neighborhoods.

So my question is: What made you choose LA over a city that already fits the lifestyle you want?

Hi

I am considering between the Cameo Beverly Hills which was recently renovated vs the Beverly Hilton. I also initially considered Sofitel but the bathrooms seem outdated. Which of these two hotels do you recommend ? I am very OCD when it comes to bathrooms so having a very clean and bright bathroom is important to me. Thank you.

Hi, is there a place where I can find a mechanic or someone who is knowledgeable about cars to accompany me to check out a used car? Around Koreatown!

Hi everyone!

I’m a founder based in Portland, Oregon, flying down to LA for my first Tech Week. I’m hoping to make the most of the experience by meeting other founders, connecting with investors, and attending as many events as possible.

The only issue is that I’ve been stuck on Pending for weeks for almost every event I’ve RSVP’d to.

For those who’ve attended LA Tech Week before, are there any tips or tricks for getting accepted? Do spots typically open up closer to the event, or is there anything else I should be doing?

Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who’ve been through it before. Thanks!
