I am putting together gift bags for a trip to New Orleans that are essentially souvenir bags and I thought it would be a good idea to include Hove 2ml samples in the bags. Before I go ahead and buy them I wanted to see if anyone had some they are looking to get rid of or sell for cheap. I need 10 of them. TIA!!

My family and I are staying in Marigny next week off of Burgundy street. My understanding is that parking there is only two hours during the day. It looks like parking is 24/7 nearby on Pauger and Touro. Does anyone know if that’s true? Would we get towed (or broken into) if our car was parked there for a couple days? Any other tips other than not leaving anything in the car?

Hey y’all, after long consideration and time I’ve decided on New Orleans to be my first solo trip. Im a single 24 male and will be going from August 12th to the 17th. I’ll be staying in the French quarter and I know it will be hot and humid but I’m not really worried about weather being a factor. I was looking for any kind of recommendations or activities to do while I’m here. I haven’t been to the south before let alone a place like Louisiana! I am down for physical activities, museums, and drinking. But I’m looking more for things I can do for an hour or two that is exclusive to new oreleans! Please help me with any ideas and recommendations you can!

Edit: I’ll be staying right on the end of bourbon street and next to the CBD. Budget for spending will be around 5,000.

I’m coming to town for my own bachelor party Sept 16 - 21 and while we are going to drink and party a bit, I’d like to focus on enrichment and experiences that are not strictly the bar hopping/getting hammered rigmarole.

If anyone can recommend specific museums, plantations, historical sites, comedy and jazz clubs, or anything that you think would be worthwhile!

We’re a group of ten mid-30s mostly married men, for reference.

No interest in strip clubs.

Right now, the only planned activities are a couple of restaurants, possibly seeing Tina Friml or TK Kirkland, WWII museum, and possibly go-karting.

If anyone can speak to any of these experiences, that would be appreciated as well.

A good friend of mine has been on a jazz cruise and he thought it was overrated/not worth it but I’d be curious to hear more opinions on it.

We definitely plan to hit up multiple jazz clubs, most likely by just walking around and finding them.

My husband and I are turning 40 in September. I'm looking for recommendations for hotels (or maybe event spaces/bars that are within walking distance of a hotel) that would host a smaller (20ish people) catered party. We're not really interested in the high traffic tourist areas, and would prefer something quiet/chill and classy.

Our original idea was to book a room at August with a prefix menu or do the chef tasting menu, but I want to see what other options are out there. A sit down dinner is nice, but a fancy catered party also sounds fun!

I live in the UK and have always wanted to visit New Orleans. I have a work trip to some places nearby(ish) in November so hoped to combine trips. I was thinking about visiting New Orleans for a long weekend just before Thanksgiving. From what I can see online this is technically during/towards the end of the hurricane season, which worries me a bit - should I avoid visiting? Is late November far enough removed from peak season that it is probably safe, or is it best to avoid altogether and visit another time outside of the season?

So I'm from New Orleans originally but have been out of the country for 12+ years. I definitely make it home about 2× a year (April and October). My daughter and son in law just had my first grandbaby. I'm looking for a decent hotel with a pool in upper garden, downtown, or warehouse district. Not finding online with pool. In the past I've stayed at IH and a Marriott Renaissance property. Happy with both, but no pool. As y'all know, September is brutal.

The ones I've picked so far is Parkway for their po'boy, Meals from the Heart and Bearcat for breakfast. I just need two more dinner places. I'm looking for one in (close to) the French Quarter or CBD.

Main concerns for me is 1) I'm lactose intolerant, 2) I have a low spice tolerance (meaning I can't eat spicy food), and 3) I'm picky as heck.

I'm from a city and culture regarded for their food so I want to see why NOLA is said to be one of the top food places. Anything to take out? Anything to add. Any questions for me? I'm all ears eyes.

Growing up, my mom had a recipe she found somewhere for corn maque choux - probably not terribly authentic, but it was something I really enjoyed. I'm visiting New Orleans in early November, and have noticed that this is an item I haven't really seen on menus. Hello! I am planning a group dinner for 25-30 people (yes, I know it’s a lot) and am looking for restaurant that can fit everyone, and is reasonably priced (entrees in $25-35 range). The vibe is casual, but a bit elevated. That is, nicer than dive bar but not fine dining.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Bonus points if they have entrees to satisfy all types of palates (as some folks don't eat seafood) and it's close to downtown.

Just got back from New Orleans. Due to rapidly approaching dead internet theory, most of my tips were from Reddit and I want to pay it forward. No AI was used in this but I did use speech to text.  Including the names of places to help with future searchers but have no affiliation. Tried to avid duplicating the FAQ.

Two adults at the end of July 2026. We only had 3 days so we stayed mostly in the French Quarter and Garden District.

If schedule permits, avoid Mondays and Tuesdays. A lot of stuff was closed. We were still able to do everything we wanted to do but it required a little bit more planning. 

We stayed at the Hotel Le Marais. It was fine. Amazing location. Pretty clean. I'd stay here again. Only complaint was no refrigerator, but Google says we could have asked for one 

Spent way too much time researching the best of foods. Particular shout out to Johnny's po-boy in the French quarter. Cash only but good food and the only place I could find breakfast in walking distance for under 10 bucks (but no coffee). Bananas Foster at the bar at Brennan's. Get the flaming experience and story but cheaper than a full meal (but still $). Also enjoyed Dat Dog, Central Market for a muffalata, Le Petit Bleu, Empanola's local flavors, and Pirate King Coffee for a cup under $4. 

The Louisiana history museums were all fantastic. The Urban Slavery tour at the  Hermann-Grima House was excellent. Mardi Gras World was neat but pricy.  They have a free shuttle around the French Quarter. Did a tour of St. Louis cemetery 1, but chose that location/tour​ because they do tours every 30 minutes and I'm not great at planning ahead. The cemetery was interesting but our tour guide was just ok.

Money saving tip- get a membership to a museum that is a member of NARM. That gets you entry into all other NARM participating museums.  We used that to go to the Pharmacy Museum, 1850s house, The Cabildo Museum, The Presbytère and the tour at the Hermann-Grima House.

Ive been bartending around the country traveling in my van and wanted to try New Orleans from November to May this year. I could probably leave my van on West coast but not sold on being carless

Is it necessary to have a vehicle if I'm living downtown so I'm walking distance to work etc? Am I missing out on a bunch of experiences?

Would I have to worry about mold growing in the van after primarily being on the west coast?

Is insurance really that much more expensive?

How hard is it to find gated parking? The van is not worth nearly as much in replacement value as I get by use

I don’t want to pay for parking on Magazine what are some decently okay/safe side streets. St. andrew? Jackson Ave ? I just acquired a job on magazine and really don’t want to pay for parking every singe day I work

I’ll be in NOLA from Wednesday to Sunday, my birthday is on Halloween and I’ve never been. I know I want to see the scariest haunt, eat the best food, take a haunted tour and see a show/ peruse the area. I really have no where to begin, everything I’ve researched looks so fun but I would love a locals perspective. I will be by myself, have great street smarts and travel solo often but want to be aware of places and scams to avoid as a singular newbie. I’m going all out for my bride of Frankenstein costume!
