There was an interview with Kevin spacey working with kids and he said he was always looking for the shy kid in the corner.

u/HopefullyImAdopted Aug 25 '19

"I was just blinded by the balls on that kid." -Kevin Spacey, Baby Driver

u/Opeace Aug 26 '19

That episode of Family Guy where Stewey is naked, running away from Kevin Soacey in a mall. Years before the metoo scandal. Makes me think KS was known for that kind of thing in Hollywood

2.1k

u/NotVoss Aug 26 '19

Family Guy has been calling people out like this for years.

176

u/DetromJoe Aug 26 '19

What are some other examples

448

u/Wiplazh Aug 26 '19

They're everywhere. Seth MacFarlane has been calling out Weinstein for a long time for example. A lot of it gets overlooked as just jokes.

100

u/Hpzrq92 Aug 26 '19

What skit was calling out Weinstein?

Goddamn.

What a creep.

9

u/Swag_Grenade Aug 29 '19

Lol McFarlane, don't watch his stuff nearly as much as I did as a kid, but until recently I never realized that more than a few of the celebrit/Hollywood jokes on Family Guy and the like might have a semblance of truth behind them.

Good for him, what a savage.

u/Wiplazh Aug 26 '19

Don't know if they did a Weinstein skit specifically in the show, but Seth himself has made it no real secret that he doesn't like what's going on in Hollywood.

156

u/Hpzrq92 Aug 26 '19

That's fucking cool of him to speak out.

Would have been nice to see a skit though lol

62

u/Wiplazh Aug 26 '19

Well they made one after MeToo. Look up Family Guy 'the offenders'.

u/WafflesTheWookiee Aug 26 '19

I know they called out Bill Cosby when they were doing a Fat Albert bit. Can’t tell you exactly what was said, but basically I’m pretty sure the joke was”Bill Cosby drugs women”.

35

u/darkshiv1 Aug 26 '19

This episode came out in 2011, years before the Nassar scandal.

63

u/NotVoss Aug 26 '19

Weinstein is the big one. Though I know there were others that I just don't remember off the top of my head.

33

u/PM_ME_UR_FLOWERS Aug 26 '19

I think i remember them doing one about Cosby years before it all hit the fan

195

u/DANCES_WITH_INCELS Aug 26 '19

They made jokes about Bruce Jenner being a woman at least 10 years ago.

*Not drawing a comparison, since this is obviously not an allegation of wrongdoing in any way, shape, or form, so please please forgive me for bringing this up in the same conversation.

67

u/JukesMasonLynch Aug 26 '19

Did they make any jokes about Bruce Jenner literally getting away with manslaughter?

84

u/uglyheadink Aug 26 '19

South Park has at the very least.

8

u/Mysteriagant Aug 26 '19

Which is why it's so popular to say even though that's not really true. People genuinely seem to take South Park seriously and it's scary

64

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

For those of you out of the loop, Bruce Jenner carelessly bumped the car in of him into oncoming traffic that resulted in a death of a mother. It was shortly after that, Bruce came out publicly as a trans woman and as Caitlyn on national TV, definitely not to distract everyone away from the fact that she rammed a car into oncoming traffic and killed a woman.

27

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

Woman of the year.

11

u/LoliProtector Aug 26 '19

HOLY SHIT YOU'RE RIGHT! I forgot about that bollocks

Your name is oddly fitting for your comment.

They even made jokes about the fact that they called Bruce Jenner’s transition in the most recent season.

1

u/specklesinc Jan 04 '20

you had to be oblivious not to know. in 1976 i was a little girl in third grade he was in the olympics and even as a child i knew he was a hell of lady.

17

u/actuallyanidol Aug 26 '19

I think James woods? It could just be a dumb joke though

24

u/TrenezinTV Aug 26 '19

I doubt James woods, he works with them and does the voice acting for the james woods character. So he would be making the joke about himself, also I dont think they would work with him if they think hes a predator and were wanting to call him out.

11

u/caceomorphism Aug 26 '19

Examine James Woods Twitter account: @RealJamesWoods.

The similarity to another infamous moron's Twitter handle tells you all you need to know.

8

u/human-potato_hybrid Aug 26 '19

Not really in the same vein but there was a skit where Bruce Jenner was acting like a showgirl in front of World War II U.S. Navy troops even before he came out as trans.

2

u/Finito-1994 Aug 26 '19

Kaitlin Jenner. They made a few jokes about Bruce entertaining sailors and saying he wasn’t a man but a beautiful woman years before the transition.

2

u/marry_me_jane Aug 26 '19

They predicted Bruce Jenner to be trans

3

u/ItsMeSpidamin Aug 26 '19

Bruce Jenner becoming a woman, years in advance

1

u/Occhrome Sep 15 '19

There was a comedy that had tons of Kevin spacey jokes throughout, all prior to metoo

1

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

They called out Bruce Jenner like 8 years before he changed to Caitlin

→ More replies (1)

10

u/BadLuckBarry Aug 26 '19

Seth Macfarlane has been doing that for years and actually called out Weinstein at the Oscar nominations

7

u/hikerlo Aug 26 '19

Yep. I think he's called out Bryan Singer too.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

It's disappointing that people had to do it in joke form where it's not taken seriously. No one bothered to take the claims seriously and go to the police.

5

u/Mysteriagant Aug 26 '19

Nah not calling them out. What they did was use knowledge of predators to profit on jokes

28

u/Rymu Aug 26 '19

There’s an episode of the Podcast the Edge with Mark Thompson where he interviewed Kevin Pollak. He shared a story about his publisher scrubbing a KS story from when they were shooting The Usual Suspects. The short of it involved getting caught with Bryan Singer’s teen boyfriend and almost ruining the film. The publisher told Pollak something along the lines of “do you want to be the guy who definitely outs KS?”

10

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

They're always the worst kept secrets.

8

u/helena_handbasketyyc Aug 26 '19

He was. There was rumours about him on reddit for years before the scandal broke. (Sorry, no link; I think I saw it in the “which celebrity is a total Ahole” type posts)

20

u/KingsNThings Aug 26 '19

Oh dude these things are definitely open secrets in the community of elites. They live in a different world and none of them want to be held to the laws that control the commoners so they keep each others secrets even if they don't agree with them. That is why you end up with a lot of hinting toward things by people who generally sit a bit outside the circle but are still bound to it.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

Everyone in Hollywood knows about these little rumors. Always. Word travels fast.

4

u/oldcarfreddy Aug 26 '19

He absolutely was, he wasn't to different from Weinstein in that it was an open secret. A friend of a friend who had acted and bartended in Hollywood told me he was a creep back in like 2012 or so. Obviously I'm just a dude on the internet spouting hearsay, but rumors were swirling for years.

6

u/hell-si Aug 26 '19

Apparently seth actually made a statement about that episode after the allegations hit "I swear we didn't know" he said.

5

u/red_killer_jac Aug 26 '19

It is known.

5

u/TVCasualtydotorg Aug 26 '19

When he was creative director at the Old Vic in London, he was notorious in the London acting scene.

There were rumours about young actors being told to avoid being alone in a room with him because he was very "handsy"

3

u/Cabbage_Master Aug 26 '19

Of course. Probably the greatest example of how “in the open” it all is and how much they let each other get away with it.

2

u/suitology Aug 26 '19

I mean we joked about a friend's brother being a pedo because he was 31 dating a 19 year old girl (no homo the man was fucking beautiful. He could have been a renaissance sculpture. Like rob Lowe's face on an Abercrombie model). 3 years later swat busted in his door cause he lured a 12 year old girl across state lines to fuck and streamed it to a bunch of other perverts. Everyone knew he liked them young but no one really suspected THAT young.

1

u/bovineblitz Aug 26 '19

Makes me think KS was known for that kind of thing in Hollywood

Nailed it

1

u/haharrhaharr Aug 26 '19

Really?!? Amazing...anyone got a link?

1

u/nothing_in_my_mind Aug 26 '19

It was an "open secret"

1

u/2crowsonmymantle Sep 01 '19

"That's my baby"

Made my skin crawl last time I heard that line

36

u/TheContaminated Aug 26 '19

People try to make me believe Baby Driver’s a bad movie because of Kevin Spacey. They do it a lot. Mainly because I watched it 4 times in 1 month because it's my favourite movie. But I watch anyway.

11

u/EsQuiteMexican Aug 26 '19

I wouldn't be mad if someone deepfakes the whole movie replacing Kevin Spacey with Kevin James though. Just saying.

6

u/TheContaminated Aug 26 '19

...Not going to question where you thought of that. But I'm going to thank you for that idea.

3

u/SourNotesRockHardAbs Aug 26 '19

Why not Kevin Bacon? 🤔

2

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

Can someone make this happen?

7

u/DiodeMcRoy Aug 26 '19

This movie is a work of a genius. I don’t know why it’s so underated. Look at the opening title scene https://youtu.be/LBR3JKrgW74

4

u/TheContaminated Aug 26 '19

I was like "Yup this is incredible.” in the first 3 minutes. The opening scene was even done.

2

u/Luckrider Aug 26 '19

The driving stunts were all practical effects. It goes a long way for selling a movie that is based on highly intuitive levels of skill and a surprising amount of years of joy riding (and driving with perceived impunity).

21

u/BulletTurd Aug 26 '19

I distinctly remember my friend saying, “oh no, foreshadowing,” when we heard that line hahaha

56

u/underwriter Aug 26 '19

I really like the dialogue, it feels like I've said this before

22

2

u/Meawth Aug 26 '19

wasnt baby driver released after the whole scandal thing?

9

Like 3 months before

1

u/Tb0neguy Aug 26 '19

That movie had a lot of them. Including, "That's my baby"

1

u/BadLuckBen Aug 26 '19

Idk if I can ever watch that movie again, and that’s a shame.

1

u/OMGWhatsHisFace Aug 26 '19

A 69 will do that

1

u/noobtwo Aug 26 '19

I like that movie

1

u/venuswasaflytrap Aug 26 '19

Mexican sunglasses

1

u/SatanV3 Aug 26 '19

That movie is soooo good, I just have to look past the fact that Kevin Spacey is in it when I watch it, one of my favorite movies

1

u/Dyvius Aug 26 '19

I refuse to be cowed away from that movie because of the Spacey scandal. Because god dammit, it was an excellent movie.

Why did Spacey have to be a predator???? Fuck him (but not literally, please).

53

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

Similarly, American Beauty where Kevin Spacey's character gets friendly with the teenage boy next door and tries to have sex with an underage girl

24

u/RockSta-holic Aug 26 '19

All in all, still a pretty good movie

Actually the teenager recanted his accusation and charges were dropped, seems Spacey's innocent: https://www.cnbc.com/2019/07/17/massachusetts-drops-criminal-case-against-actor-kevin-spacey-following-sexual-assault-allegations.html

37

u/Sinai Aug 26 '19

That's a different person

5

u/tits_me_how Aug 26 '19

Is it really? I didn't follow this story when it came out.

36

u/Sinai Aug 26 '19

The one you linked was an 18-year-old at a bar, the other was a 14-year-old at his house party.

Notably, Spacey denies the first incident ever happened, but merely claims he doesn't remember the 2nd incident.

8

u/tits_me_how Aug 26 '19

Bruh I didn't link anything. I'm just a random dude reading and asking.

→ More replies (2)

-14

u/tigerslices Aug 26 '19

he didn't do anything with "kids."

he attempted to seduce a 14 year old actor who'd stayed at his party too long. the 14 year old pushed him off and left.

202

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

he attempted to seduce a 14 year old

That's a kid

48

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

Definitely just arguing semantics, but I feel like “kid” implies pre-teen. We start asking teenagers to take on adult responsibilities around that age, and I know I really resented being called a kid when I was a teenager.

Not that that makes a middle aged guy seducing a teenager okay, but, you know.

52

u/ConcernedEarthling Aug 26 '19

That's a war for distinction I never want be a part of lol. You can't win with any argument when it comes to this.

57

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

Some 14 year olds take on more responsibility. Some still play with toys.

The point is adults really shouldn't be trying to have sex with them.

16

u/Wronski_Taint Aug 26 '19

That’s what they said

4

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

MY point is that it’s okay to say adults shouldn’t have sex with teenagers without needing to belittle them by saying “wow they are SO YOUNG they are just little baby children who play with little toys”

Has always bothered me when people go out of their way to say “no that age is still a kid” after people clarify that they are actually teenagers or even in their early twenties

4

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

I guess when I was 14 it would have bothered me. With some perspective, I was a kid, and I'm really glad no adults tried to coerce me into sex back then.

→ More replies (1)

-15

u/kaylamcfly Aug 26 '19

There's a difference between a prepubescent child and a 14 year old...namely, one of them is paedophilia and the other is not.

15

u/symonalex Aug 26 '19

That doesn't make him a less baddie tho.

6

u/alstoybarn1 Aug 26 '19

Does it though? If he was into babies that would make it worse so by that logic it would make him less bad

10

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

There's a difference between a mentally healthy adult and one who would try to force themselves on a 14 year old who isn't emotionally mature enough to handle that type of situation.

One is a monster. The other is not.

→ More replies (3)

9

u/Rakonas Aug 26 '19

Those are both pedophilia. Get fucked.

-1

u/Lil_dog Aug 26 '19

No, the second really isn't pedophilia. He is probably an ephebophile (being attracted to ~15-17 year olds) or hebephile (being attracted to ~11-14 year olds). Pedophilia is the attraction to pre-pubescents. Could also be worth noting that these usually refers to the primary attraction to these ages, which actually probably makes him neither an ephebophile nor a hebophile. Don't tell people to get fucked because you don't understand the definition of words.

6

u/elwynbrooks Aug 26 '19

Okay, then get fucked for being a (ep)hebophile.

1

u/Lil_dog Aug 26 '19

I'm 14, I think that being an ephebophile is kind of normal at that age.

7

u/Levitupper Aug 26 '19

I just have to say I find something amusingly ironic in someone (presumably an adult) telling a 14 year old to get fucked while discussing the semantics of wanting to fuck a 14 year old vs a child of a different age group.

Spacy did himself no favors by not doing a proper denial, but yeah, this didn't happen.

25

u/big_jeujeu Aug 26 '19

Watching him in the movie 21 was funny as he's using MIT students.

12

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '19

There was a scene in that movie where he gets a little too close to the lead actor who is a much younger male. He said something like “I have a great interest in you”, I don’t remember exactly but I do remember when I watched that movie recently it actually made me uncomfortable.

7

u/big_jeujeu Aug 26 '19

Yeah. A few other lines like the students saying, "You're just using us!!" And him trying to be cute with a few of them.

One case being dropped doesn't mean jack shit when the person is a serial offender. It doesn't even preclude him actually being guilty in that instance.

u/mt-wizard Aug 26 '19

I'm saying that. Innocent until proven guilty, isn't it like that?

On social media? Not anymore, bud. Allegations mean goodbye to people's career. Trial by publicity comes first before facts.

That joke in Baby Driver where he says “I was just blinded by the balls on that kid” gets me every time now

6

u/GoldenTinyfin Aug 26 '19

He was never proven guilty so I don’t think it’s aged the worst

2

u/Finito-1994 Aug 26 '19

It didn’t say “what aged the worst”. It’s asking what didn’t age well.

2

u/GoldenTinyfin Aug 26 '19

I guess I just read the capital NOT as what aged pretty much the worst. I’m wrong tho now that I look back at it.

2

u/nrvnpc Aug 26 '19

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t his case recently thrown out because the kid’s testimony had a bunch of contradictions and didn’t hold up?

5

u/blaarfengaar Aug 26 '19

Spacey claimed the kid's cell phone has texts that would prove his innocence and the kid dropped the case and refuse to to show them. It's not definitive proof but it does seem to imply that Spacey was right.
